So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

HildegardNightingale · 21/03/2021 22:22

I drew up 120 jabs today (morning) and consented 130 people this afternoon. I’m knackered (sorry for the swear word). Am currently having a Wine.
Hope everyone gets their jab soon.

lurker101 · 21/03/2021 22:29

@Mumoftwoinprimary

873k translates to over 10 jabs Every Single Second all day and all night!
Love this stat 🥰

@HildegardNightingale as someone who today had jab #2 early at my consultant's request so I can start treatment that might keep me out of a wheelchair, thank you Flowers

I hope your treatment works. Good luck!

Had mine a week ago, just one of our DD's still to go (other 3 qualified under group 6)

Bordois · 22/03/2021 12:52

Just as a comparison for when yesterday's numbers are released, last Sunday 282381 jabs were given.

@Tiddlywinkly

Buttery, that's a great point 🙂

I had my 1st jab today. I'm 37, but got called up because I've got ASD. I was surprised by that. It was all very slick at the centre. I was impressed.

Can I just ask a quick (possibly silly) question?

I had my jab last month, initially thought it was because I'm a carer for my ASD son, but I received a text message while my partner who cares for his Mum was contacted by the gp. My text message said to ask a member of my support bubble to help me book, so I'm in 2 minds as to whether I was actually contacted because of my ASD (I am perfectly capable of booking for myself and did)

Did your message say something similar???

Great numbers again! I think that is our second highest "first doses on a Sunday" total (highest first dose for a Sunday that I can see was 31st Jan at 319,038).
CaveMum · 22/03/2021 14:21

Ignore me, I was just looking at the England figures Blush Those numbers are our highest Sunday total so far.

CaveMum · 22/03/2021 14:26

I also want to give kudos to the guy who replies to each of Hugo's tweet with a comparison as to how many equivalent pints/barrels of beer have been given through the vaccination programme Grin

His latest calculation puts it at 37 hogshead barrels in the UK (Wikipedia informs me that 1 hogshead barrel holds 245.5 litres of beer) and 820 barrels globally. Which is, as he throws in a new measurement, 5.4% of an Olympic sized swimming pool!

Bordois · 22/03/2021 14:29

The replies to Hugo and also the "open the " responses to the daily figures on ukcovid19stats twitter feed crack me up sometimes 🤣

Had my jab yesterday. Was so pleased to get the invitation from my GP. Just want to say thank you to the wonderful staff at the vaccine centre. Many were volunteers and it's fantastic that people are giving their time to help keep things moving.

Frazzled2207 · 22/03/2021 15:39

assuming these great numbers carry on this week I think we'll be over 30 million first doses very soon which is just tremendous

buttery81 · 22/03/2021 16:04

The official numbers for today are in!

First dose: 27,997,976 (sooo tantalisingly close to 28 million!)

Second dose: 2,281,384

buttery81 · 22/03/2021 16:05

Those are big numbers for a Monday aren't they? It seems like the ramp-up is continuing, at least for now!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 22/03/2021 16:07

27,997,976!!!!!

So close to 28 million I can practically touch it!

And only 17 deaths reported. (I know it is the weekend effect but even so - the lowest since 21st September.)

And even more excitingly - deaths are now falling by 41.5% week on week!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 22/03/2021 16:10

buttery81 · 22/03/2021 16:11

Fantastic news Mumoftwo!

Also, the figure for 1st doses on Saturday was 26,853,407 and today, just two days later, it's almost 28 million!

DdraigGoch · 22/03/2021 17:47

Wales has now exceeded 50 doses per 100k, almost 40 of which are first doses, and 10 are second doses.

DdraigGoch · 22/03/2021 17:49

I got a very surprising phone call this afternoon. Apparently a childhood condition I was only vaguely aware that I had puts me up the list for vaccination. I was expecting to receive mine in May but instead it'll be March!

Motorina · 22/03/2021 17:55

Just had my second dose. Got a sticker!!!
