26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Buttery, that's a great point 🙂

I had my 1st jab today. I'm 37, but got called up because I've got ASD. I was surprised by that. It was all very slick at the centre. I was impressed.

@Hork

I had mine yesterday along with a couple of friends and we all feel rough today.
You're getting no sympathy for your vaccine hangover from us lot still waiting 😂
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/03/2021 20:04

@Mumoftwoinprimary

This compares to 37k who have tested positive.

That means that for every positive test we have done 100 jabs.

Mum I always love your maths❤🥳
PurpleWh1teGreen · 20/03/2021 20:18

I've done 216 in the last 2 days. Just a little contribution Wink

Acesulfame · 20/03/2021 20:26

Had my first jab this evening. Really impressed with how efficient it all was and busy - they’re clearly ploughing through people at quite a pace.

WombatChocolate · 20/03/2021 20:27

Purple....that’s amazing. Thank you. And to all the others doing it...a whole army of people.

I’d imagine delivering this is something you won’t ever forget. I’ve read if GPs and nurses and other medical professionals involved in the programme saying it’s one of the most satisfying things they’ve done.

It’s a big moment for many people. We hear of people dancing jigs or crying with relief. Thank you for helping it happen. And thank you to all the logistics people behind the scenes arranging orders and deliveries and storage and all the many many things we can’t even think of.

I’ve been asked to volunteer in the coming weekends. Haven’t been given any slot yet but I suppose I’ll get a few. That’s my local gp and they’ll be doing second doses til end of may

I've never heard of Lord Bethell before but for some reason he had to take his shirt off to get his vaccination. Hmm

Checking in. Best thread on the site at the moment, some other ones have gone a bit Confused and I need to stick to this one!

YouTediousShit · 21/03/2021 08:22

Had my AZ vaccine 11.30 Friday morning, by a lovely retired GP called Jenny who was just 'doing her bit'. I felt utterly wretched for 24 hrs, but have woken up this morning having come out the other side feeling so happy and grateful.

Congratulations! Smile

How is everyone on this sunny(ish) Sunday? I’m hugely looking forward to breaking the 27 million point today. After that it’s onwards and upwards to 30 million (I do like a big round number!) and then on to 31.8 million - a huge milestone as that is the total number of people in groups 1-9!

Can you believe more UK adults have now had their 1st dose than not? It’s just so unbelievably fantastic! Grin

BigWoollyJumpers · 21/03/2021 09:51

Had my vaccination yesterday too. Think Saturday may be a bumper day too, so many friends, and Mn's seem to have been done yesterday.

No symptoms for me at all, feeling a bit spacey, but that's it. Maybe I'm a slow burner 😂

DD's did dusting, hoovering and dinner for me yesterday in anticipation......feeling a bit mean now.

BigWoollyJumpers · 21/03/2021 09:52

Also still in bed with coffee and breakfast. How long do you think I can keep the pretence up 😂😂😂😂

Fantastic @BigWoollyJumpers. Ooo this has got me even more excited for today’s numbers now!

Goingferalonfurlough · 21/03/2021 09:56

I had my jab yesterday at my surgery and I was SO impressed with the speed of things. They must be doing hundreds an hour - join a snaking queue, get given a vaccine record card, into the first available room (I was room number 15), two minutes later I was back in my car and on my way gone. Can’t have been on the premises more than 4/5 minutes. I feel like I’ve got a bit of a thick head this morning but that could be because I kept waking through the night to see if I felt ill

mrswhiplington · 21/03/2021 10:42

Had my first one yesterday too. Feel fine today. Felt a bit achey and cold late last night, that's it. It was wonderful to get to the vaccination site and see it so busy. It is a huge site in Manchester and there were people coming and going constantly. In and out really quickly. So pleased I've had it done.

rosie39forever · 21/03/2021 11:13

My 17yr old dd who has learning disabilities has her phizer jab on Wednesday, can't wait, the peace of mind knowing she'll be protected is massive😀

PuzzledObserver · 21/03/2021 11:19

I'm looking forward to today's numbers too - Saturdays tend to be good, don't they? It is lovely and sunny here today - but this thread keeps me going on the days when it isn't.

I am also counting down to my imminent retirement - 16 weeks to go.
