So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

I have a friend who an one epileptic fit 20 years ago that was called in last week as well.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 22/03/2021 18:10

@HildegardNightingale

I drew up 120 jabs today (morning) and consented 130 people this afternoon. I’m knackered (sorry for the swear word). Am currently having a Wine. Hope everyone gets their jab soon.
Thank you thank you thank you for the hard work you are doing. ❤️

Motorina I’m jealous of you ... for the sticker :)
Hope you don’t get side effects

buttery81 · 22/03/2021 19:26

Great news @DdraigGoch and @Motorina - congratulations to you both! Smile

The surge should last for just over another week before vaccinations dial back down again. Then we await Moderna.

Daisysway · 22/03/2021 20:55

It's interesting in a very nice way how all sorts of people are getting called for vaccinations... My 21 and 23 nieces have no idea why they were invited but were jabbed last week.

Let’s enjoy it while it lasts... and get over 30 million!

buttery81 · 23/03/2021 09:34

Anyone else looking forward to surging past 28 million today? The big 30 million is really in our sights now. Jab jab jab jab jab jab jab! Grin

yellowspanner · 23/03/2021 10:59

I am really excited to get to 30 million.
I just wish there was a big countdown somewhere.
I clearly need to get a life.

Frazzled2207 · 23/03/2021 11:09

Beyond 30m (which could be confirmed thursday/Friday I think) ....

31.62 m will be 60% of all adults

33.5million will be half of the entire UK population

35 million will be 2 thirds of all adults (not that far off!)

It would be great to get to these milestones before or during the supply dip/2nd dose push

PuzzledObserver · 23/03/2021 11:23

My new favourite graphic is the uptake one. Anyone care to speculate where it will end up?

I think that eventual adult uptake will definitely be over 80%, probably closer to 90% and maybe even over 90%.

lurker101 · 23/03/2021 11:28

I think over 90%, I’m in the last age group to be vaccinated and don’t know anyone that doesn’t want it. I think that can only increase especially if certain restrictions are placed on international travel/concerts/sports matches etc.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/03/2021 12:39

I am in favour of no compulsion; but when it starts to be massively inconvenient not to have had it done, I suspect a lot of people who have doubts at the moment will notice how only a very few thousand out of hundreds of millions worldwide have had anything even approaching a serious side-effect, and decide that it isn't dangerous after all.

buttery81 · 23/03/2021 12:48

Great milestones Frazzled, especially the 35 million one!

If we got to 90% take up I think that would be phenomenal Puzzled. So that would mean 47.7 million adults would be vaccinated out of a total adult population of 53 million.

buttery81 · 23/03/2021 12:57

If we could get to 50 million adults vaccinated that would be unbelievable, but that is 94% so very high. If we get close to 50, I wonder if they’ll do a big advertising push near the end to try and get there?

DdraigGoch · 23/03/2021 13:14

It looks like herd immunity for covid requires 80% of the whole population vaccinated. To achieve that will definitely require children vaccinated too.

Bordois · 23/03/2021 14:09

A further 412,197 jabs done yesterday. Not bad for a Monday!

Which excludes NI...

CaveMum · 23/03/2021 14:15

That puts us on something in the region of 335,000 1st doses which is not bad for a Monday (think it's our 4th highest Monday so far) - slightly lower than last Monday but look where we ended the week!

PuzzledObserver · 23/03/2021 14:15

Good for a Monday I’d say, @Bordois. We need our 30 million!

Yes, there or thereabouts!

Does anyone think the doctors have got around the Gov's over 50 by inviting everyone in who has any sort of health problem no matter how long ago. Quite a few of my friends in there 30/40's have been jabbed and are to be jabbed and wondering why. They have accepted of course.

I did wonder that about my phone call yesterday, I'm mid-twenties, my condition could possibly fall in to one of the categories listed under group 6 but it's not something that's ever affected my life in any way (except for a load of bureaucratic inertia when applying to join the forces). Just something diagnosed as a young child but harmless in 95% of cases. Maybe some GPs are taking a more liberal interpretation. I'm certainly not complaining.
Lockheart · 23/03/2021 14:47

Does anyone know why Mondays results are so low compared to the rest of the week (in most weeks, not just specifically the one just gone). I can understand a Sunday dip, but surely we should be firing on all cylinders from Monday - Saturday as a minimum?

My personal preference would be for 24/7 vaccination but I appreciate that's unrealistic with logistics and supplies.
