So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Wow wow wow
Absolutely incredible

thatgingergirl · 21/03/2021 14:16

So, so good to see!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 21/03/2021 14:16

That figure is staggering!
I had my second jab today. That means I can start a new treatment for my condition in April. :)

CaveMum · 21/03/2021 14:21

Fantastic numbers!

I see our friend Hugo thinks we could see a similar pattern of numbers for the coming week, so the usual drop at the start and rising again by next weekend.

Just imagine how quickly this would all be over if we could maintain 800-900k every day, we have the capability just not sufficient supply.

EasterIssland · 21/03/2021 14:22

So good to see these numbers!!! Congrats to all those involved !

Lockheart · 21/03/2021 14:27

A phenomenal figure, excellent to see. I know we can't keep it up long-term due to supply, but I hope Sunday's figures don't fall too much and we see a return to 500k+ a day in the week.

Starlitexpress · 21/03/2021 14:41

Wowser, those figures are phenomenal, a big thank you to everyone involved in the effort!

Apart from everything else, it is the volunteers that are responsible for these figures (and all the medical staff that trained them) in countries like Italy it is only doctors and other medical staff that can do the jab, and only at a hospital or surgery, no church halls or cathedrals for them!

BigWoollyJumpers · 21/03/2021 14:46

I couldn't believe that when my relatives in Italy told me that. It's another reason why the EU is so far behind. Meanwhile in the States you turn up in your car and are jabbed through your window! It can be done with a bit of planning and a lot of goodwill.

EasterIssland · 21/03/2021 14:54

In Spain a friend was jabbed in a car as well

Mumoftwoinprimary · 21/03/2021 15:13

873k translates to over 10 jabs Every Single Second all day and all night!

Motorina · 21/03/2021 15:21

And over 4m for the week! That's 6% of the UK population (and rather more of the adult population). In a week!

Blimey.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 21/03/2021 15:36

Phew! Found you all. Just going to read back and catch up 😀

EasterIssland · 21/03/2021 15:42

Wonder how many of those 800k got stickers Hmm

Bookriddle · 21/03/2021 15:43

I'd like to add, my wifes trust, which consists of 2 hospitals had over 400 covid patients back in January

As of last night they had 1 patient in ICU with covid, and all the wards are now green

WaverleyPirate · 21/03/2021 16:06

Wow. That's amazing!

I'm in that 6% Smile

Frazzled6 · 21/03/2021 16:10

Super stats and deaths recorded were very low today.. Now we wait for the EU to throw their dummy out of their pram and react to the UKs success over the last few days ...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2021 16:19

Incredible numbers yesterday!

I've heard that a couple of our local centres are open today and tomorrow, this isn't their usual pattern of opening.

DdraigGoch · 21/03/2021 16:30

And for those still worried about the upcoming shortfall, just remember that what we were getting before was more than enough for all of the second doses (one of the newspapers had a handy graph) plus some more. On top of that, we've received an extra five million doses from India, we're just short of the remaining five million. So April won't be as good as this week has been but it should still be better than the first two weeks of March.

DdraigGoch · 21/03/2021 16:42

Just to put into context just how amazing the UK's logistics have been; the UK averaged 6.74 jabs per second over the last week. Only three countries did more than that: The US, India and China. Three huge countries (the smallest is five times our population) followed by the UK. We're in a different league to developed countries our own size! Truly punching above our weight.

The UK has the 21st biggest population (behind five of the G8 - we're not just talking developing nations here) but are the 4th fastest vaccinator. That's no small achievement.

psychomath · 21/03/2021 17:18

God, remember three months ago when they were talking about getting up to a million jabs a week, and we were all cautiously saying that it would be great if they managed it but it all sounded a bit optimistic? And now they've done almost that many in a DAY! Unbelievable!

PuzzledObserver · 21/03/2021 17:24

I’m thinking back to the threads along the lines of “at this rate it’s going to take three years to jab everybody.” If I had a quid for every time I’d said the rate would accelerate....

Parkandride · 21/03/2021 17:37

Wow what an amazing day Grin

The rates so high now that when I put myself in the calculator I could be offered a vaccine before I've got this baby out, that would not be something I'd expect! I know it'll slow down but very happy to see these high figures for as long as we can
