26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:17

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

🥳 slow and steady.

I would guess that once we are over the 2nd jab surge going on now things may start to level out? Or do you think they'll start ramping up 1sts again and run an "alternate" cycle?

OP posts:
lunar1 · 27/04/2021 14:52

I think they will level out, I don't think they will risk second vaccines needing do be done late. Unless they are pretty certain of an uninterrupted supply.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 27/04/2021 16:10

I am 7 weeks too young for a vaccine!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 27/04/2021 16:30

We have now hit 25% of adults having had 2 doses! That is amazing - a quarter of the adults are as protected as they can be.

We are also at 64% for first doses. 64 + 25 = 89. Getting so close to “halfway there”!

I’ll make sure to be ready with my Bon Jovi parody...

I will be in tomorrow's figures Grin

TruelyWonder · 27/04/2021 18:10

A quarter of Adults FULLY VACCINATED 😉
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

The sun is out, 42 year olds can book now (subject to availability), deaths are still falling and schools are still open ❤

TruelyWonder · 27/04/2021 18:11

🥳

But tell us the important stuff. Did you get a sticker and if so where have you stuck it?

TruelyWonder · 27/04/2021 18:12

Well that is a bit of a bugger isn't it.

Soon mum soon ❤

Mumoftwoinprimary · 27/04/2021 18:40

*Well that is a bit of a bugger isn't it.

It is - it reminds me of the 1997 election when I couldn’t vote but practically everyone else in my year at school could. But at the same time it is amazing that it is so close. I’m completely healthy, fairly young, not a frontline worker and yet very close to getting a vaccine. Really makes it clear just how many people have been jabbed now.

saucermilk · 27/04/2021 18:47

@TruelyWonder yes I did get a sticker and I thought of this thread when they gave it to me GrinGrinGrin!

PuzzledObserver · 27/04/2021 21:12

I just got a text inviting me for my second jab and leapt straight on - so I’m joining the 25% tomorrow! Perfect timing for a visit to my Mum when things open up further on May 17th :-)

EasterIssland · 27/04/2021 23:08

Request your sticker puzzle !

Bordois · 28/04/2021 08:31

Do you get the same sticker for your second jab?

Bordois · 28/04/2021 08:44

As we are nearing the end of this thread i thought I would do a quick recap.

This thread was started on Saturday 20th March, and the figures we had on those days related to jabs given up to and including Friday 19th March

26.8m first vaccinations
2.1m second vaccinations.

As of Monday 26th April it is now

33.8m First vaccinations
13.2m Second vaccinations

64% of the eligible population have a high level of protection against covid. 25% have the highest level of protection 🤩

Bordois · 28/04/2021 08:47

And, i know its churlish, but to those who were doomplopping and predicting a disaster with the vaccination programme. To those who kept banging on about people being pArTiAlLy VaCcInAtEd...

Don't forget they are now saying that the evidence is around 50% cut in transmission after just one dose of AZ or Pfizer ❤

Not bad for a vaccine that apparently according to some would not even help to stop transmission 🤪

Anyway more seriously we have done so well in such a short time with this thread. So many people with some protection now.

I think the queen should give us all a special gold vaccination sticker. Our work here along side Hugo has obviously been instrumental in the roll outGrin

And that research now shows the most usual side-effect of AZ or Pfizer jab is a sore injection site for as much as twenty-four hours, with a headache for less than that time being the second most common.

PuzzledObserver · 28/04/2021 12:04

I am now fully vaccinated Smile

I told my vaccinator (Sally) that I wanted to complain about the lack of sticker after my first jab. They immediately pulled out a sheet of stickers, so I have one. Grin

When I got home, I had a text telling me that the test I did on Sunday as part of the ONS survey was negative. All good here.

Haha great post about the doom-spreaders @Bordois, I wholeheartedly agree! And wonderful to see how much the numbers have increased since this thread began!
