26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Oh excellent news Easter🥳

My husband got a message to book his second jab this afternoon. He booked for next Friday Smile

It does sound like lots of people are getting messages today or able to book online. Hopefully those jab numbers will be very good over the next few of weeks.

People on my local Facebook are getting offered Moderna. It is causing worry as not been used in the UK for long. I told them to check out its record in America. It has gone through the same trails and approval process etc

Funny how different the outside world is to mumsnet sometimes. On here we have threads with people wanting to find where they can get Moderna instead of AZ. Whereas people around me want AZ because they feel they know the risks better (Pfizer to of course).

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 20:26

Spain has been using moderna for 2-3 months as well.

Funny is that husband forgot to mention he has received the text. How dare he omit that information. He wasn’t going to book til Monday as thought it’d be in a few weeks. I knew it could be tomorrow. So grabbed the phone ans booked him in :)

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 20:27

@lurker101

Fantastic! Make sure he gets a sticker 😉
They don’t give stickers in this gp. I’ve been volunteering there since February and haven’t seen a single sticker. I’ll get him a biscuit
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/04/2021 20:36

My kind of wife behaviour. You have to just take the reins to get stuff done sometimes

No stickers ☹ Do you get people turn up and realise. Then leave straight away without their jab. I mean what kind of a vaccination program are they running 😉

Haha. I volunteer outside with the car park so don’t know whether anyone has skidded when they’ve realised there is no stickers
yellowspanner · 23/04/2021 21:02

When I got my first jab I was told the time and date for my second one.
Do I just turn up on the day at the correct time, or do I have to wait to be called?
If anyone knows they are sure to be on here.

psychomath · 24/04/2021 09:59

We're surely going to hit 50% of the population (total, not just adult) having had their first dose by early next week? We're currently about half a million short and doing a bit more than 100,000 a day.

Yes, barely anyone I know IRL has even mentioned the blood clot issue with AZ, except in a few cases to say they're not worried about it. Going by the figures it doesn't seem to be heavily impacting vaccine take up either.

I too got the second appointment when I got the first; I plan to turn up on the day and at the time I booked. They don't have a phone or email for me, so they'd have to send a snail-mail letter to cancel me!
Shellingbynight · 24/04/2021 10:49

@yellowspanner
You just turn up, you already have the appointment. The major hubs/pharmacies give you the second appointment when you book your first. Whereas the GP led services do not give you a second appointment when you book your first, so you have to wait for them to contact you again.

EasterIssland · 24/04/2021 12:46

Happy wife here. :) husband ans in laws will be in tomorrow’s numbers. Been helping today in the vaccine centre (like I’ve since February) ans it was crazy today ! So hope for good numbers tomorrow.

Enough supply of vaccine without further deliveries for groups 1 to 10. Plus extra Pfizer available where needed. All positive news❤

TruelyWonder · 24/04/2021 15:20

From Hugo:

More than half of people in the UK have had a Covid-19 vaccine, according to official stats.

At least 517,914 new doses added to the total yesterday - only Flag of England & NI have reported so far, Flag of Wales no longer reports on Saturdays and Flag of Scotland is mysteriously late.

yellowspanner · 24/04/2021 16:02

Thanks folks, I will turn up at the time allocated on the 30th.

buttery81 · 25/04/2021 07:30

We’re past 12 million second doses, wahoooo!

DdraigGoch · 25/04/2021 16:48

640,645 doses today, 46,253,754 total.

Bordois · 25/04/2021 16:59

EasterIssland · 25/04/2021 22:51

I was out today so missed Hugo’s update.
Happy that out of those 640k it was 4 people I know and one of them my dh :)

Is 640 one of the highest number in a Long time ?
