Looks like Europe may have got their way

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 17/03/2021 21:56

@donewithitalltodayandxmas

The EU has exported 41m doses to 33 countries, how many has the UK exported too?

What the UK did was to specify its requirement for vaccine took priority over all other contracts..... in effect a ban on exports until the UK gets 100% of its supply.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 21:57

@happypuppymummy well if your 50 in april then you should be able to book online as soon as you hit 50

Wakeupin2022 · 17/03/2021 21:58

jas I am a fan of the EUnand normally I wouldn't mind helping them out.

But, they have pretty much made it impossible for us to do that now with all the crap threats coming from Brussels, and the bully boy tactics.

I don't know what the answer is, but I think the EU would have got further if they had dialled down the rhetoric in January. VDL especially has almost made it impossible for the UK to help the EU.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:00

@jasjas1973 we only produce one here at the moment and don't we export components for pfizer and its still to do with contracts, think usa is same
I would have no issue with az being exported for older and vulnerable in the eu of they are using them and us being a couple weeks behind
But as it stands eu are not really behind is if they say 70% by summer and I assume they mean 2 doses , where as we are 1 dose by july , so seem quite similar targets really

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:00

Which Bully Boy tactics exactly?

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:01

@greenlynx ah makes sense I forgot pfizer was younger , makes sense as my ds insisted his friend 16 had ,hada vaccination

ChameleonClara · 17/03/2021 22:01

Think this is a bit concerning: There is also speculation that some GPs could now decide not to take part in the extension of vaccinations to the under-50s, whenever it comes, as they have patients to see at their surgeries who need help with medical problems. Primary care networks have until Sunday to opt in or out of that phase of the deployment. from a piece in the Guardian tonight.

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:02

I don't think EU has any expectations at all of assistance from the U.K., and hasn't stopped any exports to there. They do however expect their own contracts to be honoured at some point though.

Wakeupin2022 · 17/03/2021 22:02

Avon constantly threatening our supplies. If that not bully boy tactics I don't know what is.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:03

@Avondklok threatening to block exports I guess of contracted supplies
All this comes down to the contracts which none of us have full privy too

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:03

Which supplies have they threatened?

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:04

@Avondklok pfizer is the only one they can at moment as only one from the eu

KeepWashingThoseHands · 17/03/2021 22:04

@Avondklok

You’re talking nonsense and adding to the UK v EU rhetoric.

Wakeupin2022 · 17/03/2021 22:04

Avon have you being living under a rock for the last couple of months?

sleepwouldbenice · 17/03/2021 22:04

Because its been much promoted that they could keep on with the pace of first doses and also do second.....

Evanna13 · 17/03/2021 22:04

Wow, this is very interesting.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:05

@Avondklok have you not seen the comments made today, but your right only one shipment blocked so far and that wasn't to uk

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:06

Absolutely not. These threads are filled with the same old posters claiming evil EU are useless and trying to prevent supply/slag off AZ as its British / use the situation for political purposes.

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:07

I,posted today's comments further up in the the thread.

Group6CantBook · 17/03/2021 22:08

Thank you for suggestions. I'll try and find a local homeless service to call tomorrow. I don't want to change GP when away just temporarily. Maybe that's the problem.

Dongdingdong · 17/03/2021 22:08

To summarise: we were ahead of schedule, we’re now back on schedule and are still on track to meet the mid April target for the top 9 priority groups.

Talk about a storm in a teacup! Hmm

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:08

@Avondklok she clearly said she may block supplies to countries ahead in vaccination programme , thing is uk contract with pfizer/ moderna are just that with the companies and the same with eu and az the eu do not have a contract with az and the uk don't have one with eu
Its the companies that have the contracts which they need to fulfil

Dutchesss · 17/03/2021 22:09

Do I need to panic buy toilet roll?

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 17/03/2021 22:10

@Dongdingdong exactly I think people need to remember that we were ahead and its ever changjng , we may have a few weeks slower then it may pick up again

Avondklok · 17/03/2021 22:10

And I agree with UVL. Why should U.K. be vaccinating under 40s without risk factors when other countries have not got the vaccines yet to do so? Unless us people in foreign climes are some how less important?
