To think the EU countries are utter fuckwits over the AZ vaccine?

annonnymous · 16/03/2021 08:32

Words fail me at the utter stupidity and reckless behaviour of many EU countries over the whole vaccination thing and in particular the AZ vaccine.

40 people with blood clots with AZ ..... which is statistically lower than the average number of people who get blood clots anyway and the same as the Pfizer one! And the twatty french president saying AZ was quite ineffective in the over 65s and the whole of the EU slow the give it to over 65s because there was no evidence (because it wasn't tested on them) that it worked. It does, and sheer logic says it will. Your immune system doesn't fold up at 65.

With covid cases rising, Paris hospitals shipping out seriously ill patients to other areas, Italy in serious problems again, they need to stop this.

On no real evidence they are putting the lives of thousands of people at risk and putting a question mark over an effective vaccine which makes no profit and can be used worldwide cheaply.

The WHO say it's safe. FFS Europe, get a grip and stop the politics.

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

it does appear like sour grapes
It isn't sour grapes, can you imagine their poll ratings if they did something just because they were annoyed?

We ordered early, it was a gamble that paid off. But essentially we have a PM who is a high-stakes gambler, and most European nations don't so much. Some of them are only pausing for a day or two.

Here in the Uk we have a very skewed view of European politics because we have been engaged in a fake war with themf or over twenty years.

In most EU nations the average voter really just couldn't give a shit about us and are probably glad we have fucked off out of their lives.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 16/03/2021 11:33

they have done better than us, however we dont want british people to be worried as it is our way out
i hope they restart soon

@BigBamboo

The cynic in me has been stirred.

The EU wants the block to remain intact at all costs. It is not in their interests for the UK to be fully vaccinated and start economic recovery before anyone else. If we do, other countries in the EU will question their membership. This could be the start of the break up of the EU or at the very least the final straw for some already teetering memberships.

They aren’t questioning the Pfizer jab which has equal deaths. Why is that?

The EU have 2 options. The start of its breakup or at the very least internal tensions, or, throwing their own people under a bus to save the EU.

It’s not actually that far fetched.

They aren’t questioning the Pfizer jab which has equal deaths. Why is that?

Oh for... I think this is the sixth time I've posted it just in this thread.

The incidents in Denmark and Norway were extreme, the body of the Danish woman who died had a very abnormal level of damage from the clotting. Likewise the incidents in Norway didn't appear in line with standard sickness. That's why.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 16/03/2021 11:34

no they are not glad we have fucked off, they feel offended

Cornettoninja · 16/03/2021 11:34

Why are people getting the hump over a variang being referred to as the British variant? It is in that we identified it and had it spread throughout the country. Are we as offended over the reference to the Brazilian variant or South African variant? It’s just a label to distinguish and track.

The only reason we’re talking about variants now is because of concerns over the vaccines. There have been loads of variants since covid took off it Europe.

A lot of this offence and outrage is purely in the heads of those alluding to it. It’s like a budgie arguing with its mirror.

Worknoplay · 16/03/2021 11:35

Oh dear, you would trust the BBC to choose a clip which goes in favour of the government wouldn't you?

From Politico magazine: 'there are now 1.4 million doses of the (AZ) vaccine in Germany, while only about 240,000 have been administered. "We are working quite hard … to try and convince people to accept the vaccine and really to build ... trust in the vaccine among the population,"

This comes from the ground up. A very high percentage of people in Germany don't trust the AZ vaccine. THey don't trust it for many reasons. The public confidence in the vaccine is very low. The government is trying very hard to convince people to take it.

FourTeaFallOut · 16/03/2021 11:35

Never been happier to be in such a trial. Thanks.

grapewine · 16/03/2021 11:36

No-one is ganging up on Britain- that’s absurd.

Of course it is absurd. But it fits in with the general anti EU sentiment.

it’s a success because of NHS logistics.

With significant help from the Army. The Royal Logistics Corps to be specific.

Our elderly and late middle-aged family in Heilbronn were delighted to receive it 🤷‍♀️

What is the “high percentage”, do you know?

BehindMyEyes · 16/03/2021 11:39

@FatCatThinCat

Who has died as a direct result from the vaccine?

There have now been several deaths due to blood clots shortly after vaccination. Italy has launched a manslaughter investigation following the death of a teacher after vaccination.

Crazy !
StormzyinaTCup · 16/03/2021 11:39

Just to be very blunt, it's arse covering nothing more nothing less with more than a whiff of a political undertone.

EU countries can do what they like but I think they are being very shortsighted. The evidence is not there for a justified pause but 'you do you'.
In the meantime the U.K. can continue to 'crack on' a pace and get our economy up and running again.

I will be having my vaccine just as soon as I can. My risk for blood clots was higher just by being pregnant (and I've done that twice) than it is from having the vaccine.

Cornettoninja · 16/03/2021 11:40

Tiring isn’t it?

Partly why I’m convinced MN is full of bots and agitators....

Yes, absolutely correct. My point though was, not Serco, hallelujahGrin

Crazy, isn’t it. Jo Public’s risk assessment is diabolical.

deliciouschilli · 16/03/2021 11:43

I really hope, for the sake of the poor people of the EU in particular that they get this sorted out very quickly.

It seems obvious that the blood clotting is in line with what would be expected normally and scientists from across the world including the WHO are expressing their absolute bafflement over this.

I think that, if they are not using the vaccine, they should make it available to the Unicef vaccine charity where it will be gratefully received.

CaveMum · 16/03/2021 11:44

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

have such blood clots been reported in the UK?
Yes. 28 cases (note these are “blood clot events” not deaths) out of over 10 million doses given.
To think the EU countries are utter fuckwits over the AZ vaccine?
mumsneedwine · 16/03/2021 11:45

Astra-Zeneca, that well know British company 🤪. Oxford only teamed up with them because they promised to make it at cost on every continent, other drug companies all wanted to make it for profit. I don't care where the vaccine was developed, I just care about the dangerous reporting. Already on here people saying it's caused deaths. No it hasn't. There is no link and until one is proven then it's dangerous. It's like saying 17 million people drank milk and one person died because they had a milk allergy. So everyone should stop drinking milk. Time is not a luxury we have if we want to save lives. Stop and test again if required but layoff the language making out this is lethal.

requitalissima · 16/03/2021 11:45

OP, you are behaving like a hysterical twat. Do you really believe EU governments give a shiny shit about playing politics with UK over the safety of their citizens?
Such utter cockwaddle is spouted only by fucking covert UKIP morons.
The self-importance of some in UK is fucking astounding.
It's NOT about you.
Arrgghhhh.

mumsneedwine · 16/03/2021 11:46

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom and 25 cases of clots reported after Pfizer. But these clots are not linked to tyres vaccine - people get clots all the time normally.

Circumlocutious · 16/03/2021 11:47

It’s not the governments but regulatory agencies covering their backsides. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
