DH is having his riiiiiiiiiight now!

Furries · 17/03/2021 16:06

Popping back to mark my place. I don’t contribute much, you’re all much better (and quicker!) than me, but just reading this thread helps enormously. I’m 48, so hoping that it won’t be too long now until I’m eligible - fingers crossed that supplies remain at a steady rate.

Really hoping that other countries continue to look to our data to maintain/increase confidence in the vaccines.

Furries · 17/03/2021 16:06

@JemimaPyjamas 🍾💐

Sixmonthson · 17/03/2021 16:12

Furries My daughter is 47 and has her appointment next week. South West

Furries · 17/03/2021 16:31

@Sixmonthson - that’s brilliant, great that she’s got it booked in. System still says I’m not eligible, but I’m in an area that has a fairly large elderly population so probably taking longer to get through them. I’m hoping by mid-April, which would be brilliant. Don’t think I’d have believed that six months ago, am so impressed with the vaccine rollout.

pinkearedcow · 17/03/2021 16:38

I had the AZ vax on Monday, felt a wee bit rough, fine today. Very happy to have had it!

louisejxxx · 17/03/2021 17:03

I’ve found you all again - you’d dropped off my I’m on list. Got my vac booked for early morning Sat Smile - guessing it’s AZ as it’s not at the “hub” surgery that’s been doing all the Pfizer’s but at my own surgery.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/03/2021 17:21

Matt Hancock’s revealed details of @PHE_uk analysis of real-world data.

A single dose provides this protection:

60% against getting COVID
80% against hospitalisation
85% against death

You’ve a 30% lower risk of contracting COVID if you live with someone who’s been vaccinated.

springhasalmostsprung · 17/03/2021 17:21

This thread is just what I need sometimes, it's been a week of 'friends' on social media complaining about isolating and how they 'don't understand' why they have to do so.

Love all the positive news shared here Smile

Inastatus · 17/03/2021 18:07

Checking in as I also lost you. I’m a bit worried about the reports that vaccine supply is going to be significantly reduced after the end of the month but apparently Matt Hancock was playing it down in the briefing (I didn’t see it). Has anyone got any more info?

There is a thread but basically no more 1st vaccines for 6 weeks from end of the month. That’s any under 50s
springhasalmostsprung · 17/03/2021 18:27

That's not good, why is that?
I was hoping I might get mine by the beginning of may (35) but I guess not now Sad

OrangeBananaFish · 17/03/2021 18:29

6 week's, thought I'd read 4 somewhere, though I could be wrong. Either way groups 1-9 will still get vaccinated and they are the most vulnerable. Plus someone said something along the lines of even with having this break we will still be on course to vaccinate everyone within the timescales we had hoped.

I'm hoping it means we can do a big push to get everyone their second vaccine so 25 million (or whatever the figure is) will be fully vaccinated and there wont be issues with them having the 2nd vaccine. I say that as a 42 year old who isn't vulnerable so not able to book yet.

Inastatus · 17/03/2021 18:30

@EasterIssland - thanks. That’s not great news but hopefully it won’t be as bad as that. Surely some of the other vaccines - Modena and J&J will be available soon too 🤞🏻

Mindymomo · 17/03/2021 18:31

At the briefing they said that once the over 50’s have had first dose, they would concentrate on getting those in vulnerable groups vaccinated, who haven’t yet.

TeenMinusTests · 17/03/2021 18:32

I don't think they are saying that there will be no more 1st vaccines for 6 weeks.
More just they mustn't book in anyone not in groups 1-9 for the moment until they can ensure all of those are done everywhere and what the supplies turn out to be.
I got the impression they don't want:
a) to have to cancel appointments
b) one area to get ahead and do 40-49s when other areas are struggling to supply group 1-9s.

Also note it doesn't mean they won't meet their original targets. Fluctuations in supply were always expected.

Inastatus · 17/03/2021 18:42

@TeenMinusTests - thank you for that. I think we are about 2 weeks ahead of schedule too so you are right, even if there is some fluctuation in supply, we should still be on target.

tobee · 17/03/2021 19:11

They've said about drop in supply before. Not sure how it will play out but might not be too bad.

TJ17 · 17/03/2021 19:26

I remember when the vaccine calculator said I'd be vaccinated January 2022 (turning 30 soon and no health conditions) so for me the fact it now says end Apr-May is good enough for me!

We've come a long way in a short time SmileWine

springhasalmostsprung · 17/03/2021 19:34

That's not so bad. I guess with the way things were going it it looked like those of us in our 30/40s might get it a lot sooner than we were expecting, and so now this seems like disappointing news. It's not really though
