@NicolaSturgeon
confirms the first batch of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Scotland yesterday.

fadingfast · 06/04/2021 17:28

I’m so hoping that some of those Moderna doses will find their way to Norfolk, and one of them in my arm. I’ve started to feel rather despondent about all the uncertainty around when the 40+ group will be (officially) called in. Does anyone know whether this vaccine is more likely to be given by GPs or the large vaccine centres?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/04/2021 19:42

I think I read that it would be GPs.

EasterIssland · 06/04/2021 20:07

@fadingfast you can have 2 if my husband can have another 2 :)

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 06/04/2021 20:35

GPs started each age group one or two weeks before the larger hubs. Definitely before the national booking system. So probably end up the same. Some areas have dipped into the 40s a little already of course. Before the supply started to slump.

If the government are wise when they push through to 40s they will stick to GPs and not putting on the national booking system for a bit. Politically it could cause more problems aboard if we are seen to be cracking on with people outside the priority list. We need the EU a start to start looking stronger. Health care wise we need jabs in arms. I say quietly continue but don't make a song and a dance (Never going to happen with Boris and our media)

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 06/04/2021 22:01

Do you have to book your second vaccine appointment yourself? My parents (78) had their first jab mid-jan and not heard anything about second vaccine yet.

tobee · 06/04/2021 22:35

No. My parents heard from their GP as per first dose.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 06/04/2021 22:37

@tobee thanks. It’s been 11 weeks today. Bit worried...

tobee · 06/04/2021 22:54

Yes. However, everyone I know who got gp alert/nhs text for dose 1 got it very much on schedule and booked for the next few days. The second dose is a worry because of the timing.

Would your parents be unhappy with using the book yourself in website? I've used it after my sister did it by chance and I passed it on to friends. However, my cev Dh and a couple of my friends want to wait to be asked. When I put my details in it recognised my nhs number and offered me early June and not before. It also confirmed, after I'd chosen, that it was my second dose.

tobee · 06/04/2021 22:56

I didn't have to input that information myself; about it being my second dose.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/04/2021 02:08

Moderna starting in Wales Smile

Also I read else where that Norovax being manufactured here ahead of approval. So if it gets approval in May as hoped. Then we should roll it out straight away.

The Janssen approval should also be soon. Delivery to start in May too.

All three probably have limited supply to start but we already have Pfizer and AZ. So looking good.

EasterIssland · 07/04/2021 08:06

Good news !!!

EasterIssland · 07/04/2021 11:10

3️⃣ IN 5️⃣ adults have now been vaccinated against COVID.

TeenMinusTests · 07/04/2021 11:23

@SaveWaterDrinkGin If it has been 11 weeks I'd get your parents (or you) to ring the surgery. My DF had 4 days notice for his second, my DM had 10.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 07/04/2021 11:39

Thanks @TeenMinusTests they actually got a phone call late in the evening last night to invite them tomorrow!

springhasalmostsprung · 07/04/2021 11:59

My sister had hers this morning! Very nervous due to all the blood clot worries as she's only 32, but had it none the less

Just a bit of personal good news. Everyone over 18 years of age is now eligible for vaccination in New York and I was able to book jabs for my 21 year old son and 19 year old daughter this morning.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/04/2021 14:16

Oh fantastic. New Yorkers definitely deserve to get jabs quickly now. After everything the city went through last year.

Lovely to hear ❤

MissConductUS · 07/04/2021 15:09

It was really horrible here last year, a truly frightening time. Our case numbers fell in March but have been stuck at the same level for the last few weeks. The good news is that we are getting a lot of vaccine supply. The US is currently doing 3.1 million jabs per day. I think about 12% of that goes to New York.

This is great! U.S seem to be doing really well.

We want everyone all over the world jabbed!
