They are still researching the whole blood clot thing. So no clear answer yet.

Just figures for likelihood.

TheChineseChicken · 03/04/2021 16:10

Numbers look good today. Deaths 10 compared with last Saturday’s 58!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 16:26

The 10 may be because of Easter weekend reporting but I will take itGrin

Israel are down to 10 or less reported deaths a day now. Hopefully that will be us soon.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 16:28

Vaccinations are still going strong nearly at 10% of adults with second jab

I have put my hand up as the thread pessimist then😂

We obviously are a jolly lot if that label is mine 🤣🤣🤣

FourTeaFallOut · 03/04/2021 16:35

So good that I haven't seen the words fully vaccinated here lately so many people are having their second dose now. I'm up for part two in three weeks. Good to see vaccinations carrying on at pace despite all the noise around the az jab.

louisejxxx · 03/04/2021 16:40

Case numbers great again today too and the decreasing percentage, but I guess everything over this long weekend has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 16:46

Agree re fully vaccinated 🔫😤

Yes I read earlier that some survey of appointments shows no bad effect from the AZ stuff in the media.

I still think the more other countries muck about with AZ. The more the Great British public will actually be encouraged to have it. We are a stubborn and loyal lot at heart. People see the AZ as the oxford. So are very loyal to it.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 16:53

The 7 day averages before the weekend have been going down nicely too. Even the cases which were looking like leveling off for a bit. So even with dodgy Easter weekend reporting. We are all good.

Apparently though school age children are now a larger percentage of the cases. The cases are still falling across the board way better than anyone thought though.

Therefore so far other than the extra tests adding to case numbers. Schools have not so far caused a big issue at all. Fingers crossed with masks and more testing it stays that way.

Just had my vaccine 😁 I'm 28 with asthma. My mum and brother had their 2nd doses today too.

The comedy night thing has just been debunked on Twitter. The comedy club is trialling a testing regime with everyone not passports.

Love this thread so much 💕

I’m just wondering, can any of you guys explain for my simple mind why the voices of doom and gloom are saying they think they’ll be another lockdown in the winter? I was under the impression that once the majority of people have had their vaccines then that will be the end off restrictions/lockdowns etc. I don’t understand why we’d need to go into lockdown again?

OrangeBananaFish · 04/04/2021 21:30

Do they mean actual lockdown or just some restrictions? I personally think people are expecting that they may put in place some restrictions over the colder, winter months, but not a full lockdown again. Maybe just not allow foreign travel (assuming they open it up again properly) or not let large weddings go ahead etc. Not only allowed to leave the home for certain reasons etc. Possibly mask wearing indoors again (assuming that it becomes a choice again rather than a must do unless excempt)

tobee · 04/04/2021 22:05

I think people think it will protect themselves from being disappointed. But it can be akin to superstition.

tobee · 04/04/2021 22:11

Just had fun looking up when other vaccines may come online:-

This is a fun and possibly useful one from America if someone's design is better than we are using. Though hopefully we can ditch the masks in the summer. We may need them for travel or hospital appointments etc.

tobee · 05/04/2021 13:54

Was just able to book my 2nd jab on nhs website. Am over 50 and was for June. They automatically know it's your second jab.

Chris Whitty said there won't be one and he is usually quite doomy. I don't think there will be but I don't think that means there'll be no restrictions either. Also although things are looking positive at the moment we really don't know what's going to happen about dodgy variants and how well the vaccines will keep them at bay. Nor how long immunity from the vaccines will last. We will have to be cautious for ages, years quite likely. But I'm very hopeful that by far the worst is behind us now.

Just posting as I had fallen off the thread.
Just need some nice warm weather so I can visit my DPs in their garden.

A selfish one from me. Our haven holiday to Poole is going ahead, the pool will be open and it looks like the weather might even be decent. I've managed to book some day trips with my preschooler in the Easter hols, plus haircuts for both of us! I can't wait to go to our favourite cafe too.

No sign of a vaccine yet for me but all my older relatives and my husband have had at least one.
