Positive update from Professor Tim Spector Smile

TeaInTheGarden · 01/04/2021 00:13

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum oh I hope that’s true! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

OrangeBananaFish · 01/04/2021 07:43

My fingers are crossed for early meals in pubs too. Its one thing we like to do as a family.

FourTeaFallOut · 01/04/2021 07:50

I wonder if that entire stage has been brought forward if that comes to fruition? Or if indoor eating might get an early pass?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/04/2021 11:58

Yay I have my jab appointment!

FourTeaFallOut · 01/04/2021 12:06

We wave goodbye to shielding today! Woohoo!

chri55ie · 01/04/2021 12:44

Oooo congrats! Are you under 50? I am so keen to get mine!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/04/2021 12:47

I’m 49.
Judging from the names and ages of local friends I have seen posting about it on FB I think the surgery must be working through the 40-49s alphabetically rather than by age.

EasterIssland · 01/04/2021 13:04

The Polish government unexpectedly opened registrations for people aged over 40 overnight.
said slower rates of registration among older Poles meant the government had decided to widen access.

Read few days ago that they were having problems re: covid cases, guess if people are not taking the vaccine, then it makes sense to open it to other ages

whatswithtodaytoday · 01/04/2021 16:51

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel By first name or surname? My names are at opposite ends of the alphabet :D

I've seen a lot of 40-something friends get their jabs in the past couple of weeks, and there are so many they can't all have underlying conditions.

louisejxxx · 01/04/2021 17:51

A friend who is 47 has hers the other day in my area so I think they are slowly plodding through, just perhaps not broadcasting the fact.

Lovely case number decreasing percentage again (16%) - fantastic the amount of decrease has increased over recent days despite kids being back at school etc. Also, less than 4000 people in hospital now...a 10th of how many there was at the peak.

BessMarvin · 01/04/2021 19:18

I was reading a thread on here about people in their 40s getting their vaccine and where in the UK they were. But it seemed to be dependant on individual GPs.

HalleLouja · 02/04/2021 07:42

Good news on the Pfizer vaccine for antibodies. It even looks like it works on the SA variant. Although not so great on the T cells.

Personal good news - I had antibodies but must have been asymptomatic as I don’t think I had it.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 15:14

The UK has identified 30 cases of rare blood clot events following the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This makes up 0.0002% of the 18.1 million doses given in the UK and is in line with the natural rate of blood clot occurrences.

(From a Times tweet 😊)

springhasalmostsprung · 02/04/2021 15:18

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum thanks for that. I was just going to come on to ask if anyone has any links etc as to why we shouldn't be completely terrified of the Oxford vaccine blood clot situation?

My sister (32) is getting hers on Wednesday and is concerned. Not enough to stop her getting it, but I'd love to make her feel a bit less worried!

I’ll take those odds!
EasterIssland · 02/04/2021 16:12

Amazing numbers from yesterday

For comparison, Cambridge University academics tracking the Covid outbreak say the risk of dying of Covid for 25 to 44-year-olds is 0.04 per cent - 40 times higher than even Germany's incidence of CVST.

Frazzled2207 · 02/04/2021 16:32

Meanwhile, in Israel...
www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/02/really-good-place-israel-nearing-covid-endgame

Frazzled2207 · 02/04/2021 16:33

another tweet on the AZ vaccine issue....

Current MHRA numbers:
18.1 million doses of the AZ vaccine administered
22 CVST (1 in 820,000)
8 thrombocytopenia/clotting events (1 in 2,200,000)
Risk: 1 in 603,000

140,000 COVID deaths, countless more hospitalized.

Have we lost all sense of proportion?

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 02/04/2021 16:54

Thanks Frazzled. Am getting mine next week and feel quite anxious, info like that helps to keep it in proportion.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 16:57

Just had a look and my London trust. Which is made up of 5 hospitals. Only has 86 covid patients in hospital between them nowGrin

tobee · 02/04/2021 17:01

"Have we lost all sense of proportion?"

Yes.

TeaInTheGarden · 02/04/2021 17:01

Bizarre that they are only just considering scrapping masks OUTSIDE in Israel?!
Other than that it sounds like they are in an amazing place. Love it!

springhasalmostsprung · 02/04/2021 18:04

Just because I'm the kind of person who likes to know how and why for everything - do we know what it is about the vaccine that COULD be causing blood clots?
