which of the following best describes your experience?

  1. You had no side effects.
  2. You had side effects, but are no longer experiencing any side effects.
  3. You are still experiencing side effects.

I know there have been lots of threads about side effects, but am hoping to create one where it's quick to pick out whether people are talking about very short-term side effects or something that lasted longer. If you're a 3, would be interesting to know which vaccine, your age, and whether you have a pre-existing medical condition which you think might have affected your body's response to the vaccine.

AZ, 3 weeks ago.
Felt flu-y for 48 hours, then my arm was a bit sore and stiff for 4/5 days.

LilyPond2 · 12/03/2021 19:08

I should probably also have said that of the 7 responses that gave Answer 3, 5 mentioned a pre-existing medical condition.

I'm not at 2 weeks yet but think I am out the other side. 2. AZ Jab 1. No previous covid as far as I know.

I had all the symptoms except nausea (mild headache, aches and pains, hot flush, chills and shivering, feeling poorly, wiped out with no energy, sneezing and slight cough. Felt bad enough to give myself a covid test which was on hand due to DC being back at school, but tested negative). I never get flu or react to the flu vaccine but I now know what it is like. Went to bed at 7pm on the second day just to get away from how I felt and slept 18 hours which is unheard of.

Felt really grim for 2 days then not quite right with hangover style headache for another 24 hours. Managed to keep working with the help of paracetamol except at one meeting where I had a complete hot flush and brain fog and had to ask to be excused, but it was an endurance slog. I am never normally ill and never off work sick. I have booked the week off work for Jab 2. Still better than Covid and showed me how terrible I would have felt if I had had it!

imyournextdoorneighbour · 12/03/2021 19:56

2/3 - AZ felt really rough from about 8 hours after for 2 days (2 days off work) then for 2 weeks had a painful arm, not a jab pain but muscle pain.

minchinfin · 12/03/2021 19:56

2

4 weeks ago, AZ, the usual post vaccine side effects, same as I normally get with flu jab, maybe slightly more prolonged, I felt under the weather for about a week, but only significant for first 24 hours. I had a lump.and red rash at the injection site which lasted for about 2 weeks.

Glad I now have some immunity.

shinynewapple21 · 12/03/2021 19:58

1-2 I had Pfizer - I had a sore arm for around a day but didn't feel unwell otherwise .

  1. Was in a bad way for 24 hours. DH sent me back to bed the next day, he said I'd tossed and turned all night long and was a sweaty mess through the night.

How I felt the night after getting my jab was exactly how I felt when I had covid 6 weeks before. Like a horrendous flu.

Cissyandflora · 12/03/2021 20:16

1 - Pfizer

Crunchymum · 12/03/2021 20:24

I had the Pfizer jab two weeks ago, no side effects.

LizzieSiddal · 12/03/2021 21:06

3 Pfizer

Sore arm for two days but then on 3rd day woke up with horrific headache, exhaustion and aches. Spent 4 days lying on sofa doing absolutely nothing. Started doing little things the following week but still felt very tired and joints aches and it will be 3 weeks tomorrow. My legs feel like lead and can now just about manage a short slow walk (usually do 45 min walk every day at fast pace). Last time I felt like this was when I was very anaemic and needed prescription Iron for 12 months. I contacted my Dr yesterday and they’ve ordered full blood tests to check what’s going on.
Will also mention I do the Zoe app and they’ve asked me twice to do Covid tests because of my symptoms. Both came back negative.
I’m healthy weight, no underlying conditions and am 55.
