So I am a primary school teacher returning to work after maternity next week and was given a box of lateral flows in preperation. Today I recieved a surprise phonecall inviting me for the covid vaccine on monday. The lady who rang me was unsure why I was recieving the vaccine as I am only 33. After some digging it is due to my mental health and health anxiety. Apparently there is an outreach programme in my area with an allocation of vaccines. Anyway I was so happy!!
Fast forward two hours to my DH coming home from work looking terrible with a banging headache and sore throat. I just had a horrible feeling so I gave him one of my lateral flows (I know I shouldn't have). It was positive. Used another to check. Also positive. I have booked pcr test for tomorrow but he is positive isn't he?
I am so worried for him although he is not too bad atm. Also the timing. Me returning to work, my vaccine on monday now can't go ahead and my kids can't return to school on monday when they were so excited! Can't quite believe our bad luck!

Also, should I use the other lateral flows on myself and the kids or not bother?

This is the graphic link - as you have been self-isolating you dont have to do another 10 days unless you get symptoms followed by a positive test. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/961291/Stay_at_home_illustration_Feb_2021.pdf

Glad your husband is improving. As it's a trial he may have got the drug or a placebo, so it could just be the antibiotics working. Once he has finished the course some probiotics might be useful, antibiotics and covid both mess up gut bacteria.

How’s everything going OP? X

Hi. Thanks for asking. My DH is doing better. He is mainly resting although did sit in the garden for a while today. He has lost a scary amount of weight and is very breathless after simple tasks but I can see he is improving. He is managing to eat now too! Our DS had very mild symptoms, as did I. Our other 2 children had no symptoms

Thank you to everyone on this thread. It really helped me during a scary time!

Pleased to hear things are improving. Sitting out in the garden is great, fresh air and soon it will start upping vitamin D levels do.
