So I am a primary school teacher returning to work after maternity next week and was given a box of lateral flows in preperation. Today I recieved a surprise phonecall inviting me for the covid vaccine on monday. The lady who rang me was unsure why I was recieving the vaccine as I am only 33. After some digging it is due to my mental health and health anxiety. Apparently there is an outreach programme in my area with an allocation of vaccines. Anyway I was so happy!!
Fast forward two hours to my DH coming home from work looking terrible with a banging headache and sore throat. I just had a horrible feeling so I gave him one of my lateral flows (I know I shouldn't have). It was positive. Used another to check. Also positive. I have booked pcr test for tomorrow but he is positive isn't he?
I am so worried for him although he is not too bad atm. Also the timing. Me returning to work, my vaccine on monday now can't go ahead and my kids can't return to school on monday when they were so excited! Can't quite believe our bad luck!

Also, should I use the other lateral flows on myself and the kids or not bother?

Yeah I have spoken to him. His temp was down to 37. He is still on oxygen. He has been for a CT scan for a more accurate picture of his chest. He didn't sound as breathleas as he did last night

That’s good news- hope he has a phone and charger with him?

Atalune · 10/03/2021 10:19

Sounds like he is improving which is really great. And it’s very fortunate he didn’t come home too early, he’s in the right place.

How are you coping? Are you still feeling unwell?

Mindymomo · 10/03/2021 10:21

Been following, good news, but how are you feeling now?

Frazzled2207 · 10/03/2021 10:24

It sounds like he's heading in the right direction.
If he's got pneumonia then they will want to keep an eye on him and speaking from personal experience complete recovery can be quite slow. But it sounds like he might be well enough to come home soon. Pleased you're feeling a bit better yourself.

YukoandHiro · 10/03/2021 17:50

Any news this evening OP? Glad to hear you seem to be doing ok with it yourself

alreadytaken · 11/03/2021 10:27

Sounds like he's getting better, hope you are improving too.

VaccineYayVaccineNay · 11/03/2021 10:31

He is still in and still having high temperatures which are causing a high heart rate. He hasn't needed anymore oxygen though. Blood tests have found an infection somewhere so on high strength antibiotics.
My DM collapsed at work yesterday and has been admitted with a heart problem. I am living on my nerves.

Oh no, you have been through it. Stay strong. Great news he isn't needing oxygen. The steroids are really making a difference in treating covid.

Your poor mum. Thinking of you. Keep busy with little tasks. Hope you continue to improve too.

Becca7910 · 11/03/2021 10:38

Oh goodness you poor thing! It's sounds like your husband is doing better, so that's great! Sorry he's still quite poorly though. Sorry about your mum too! Really hope she is Ok. Try and take as much care of yourself as poss. Leave things that really don't matter. Take care and keep us updated! X

TokyoSushi · 11/03/2021 10:41

Oh goodness, just come across your post, what a time you've had. Hope you're all much better very soon.

VaccineYayVaccineNay · 11/03/2021 10:44

I spoke to him on the phone this morning and he sounded okay. I heard the nurse say to him eee youngest one on the ward and the last one to get up. So strange it has effected him so badly

Covid is weird in the way it affects people and unfortunately does hit some young people badly. However he is improving and hopefully the antibiotics will have the infection under control in a few days and he'll be sent home. Just make sure he finishes the course if he comes home before then.

I'm sorry about your mother, you are having a hard time.

Atalune · 11/03/2021 11:18

You must be so tired with the worry and stress of this!

Do you think you’ll be able to see him soon?

VaccineYayVaccineNay · 11/03/2021 13:43

I spoke too soon as he is back on oxygen. He has had another temp of over 40. They are going to give him a drug as part of the recovery trial today or tomorrow

lubeybooby · 11/03/2021 13:45

Oh goodness OP, really hope he's properly feeling better soon x

grenadines · 11/03/2021 14:58

@VaccineYayVaccineNay What a worrying time for you. I think you are coping very well in the circumstances particularly when you are ill yourself.

I hope the meds will start taking effect soon and your dh's temp will come down.

Atalune · 11/03/2021 16:37

Oh love. What a blow. So sorry- but temperatures are fighting disease. Hope you’re managing ok on the hone front and your SIL etc are helping.

alreadytaken · 11/03/2021 17:18

At least it sounds like he is tolerating the oxygen and responding well to it. The antibiotics havent really had long enough to work yet.

Hope your mum is improving too.

AnxietyDrivingMyLife · 12/03/2021 09:01

Hope you are doing well. Any news about your husband and mom? Keeping my fingers crossed

Seasthedaytoday · 12/03/2021 09:26

OP. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, also sorry you hear about your DM too. What a hard time for you. It sounds like your sil is wondering and if it came to needing her to take your children for a while she would, very selfless of her. Sending love and please keep us updated. Xxxx
