Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

@Myalternate Probably only using the original data on the table at a guess. Things have moved on a fair bit results wise since then. Else it is the effectiveness after one dose

I can't see it properly at the moment from my phone. So just a guess

Appreciate your response. I was just curious regarding the efficacy rates. I'll admit I've no clue even after reading the various tables I've seen on several threads. I'm totally ignorant when it comes to maths/science 😏
I'm happy to accept whichever vaccine I might be offered.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 21:18

@Myalternate At the moment we are only using the Pfizer and AZ. In real life there doesn't seem to be much difference between them. The data collected from those first vaccinated in Scotland shows you really are ok with either

Once ee start using the Moderna we will get to see how that goes. I need to read up more on that one. Think the Americans should have data already

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 21:38

The 7 day rolling average for cases is now 5995Grin

I've just managed to book 54-year old DH his jabs - yay!

ILookAtTheFloor · 08/03/2021 09:35

About AZ vs the mrna vaccines- I believe in the trials Pfizer based their efficiacy data on presentation of symptoms only (much like every other vaccine developed for non covid diseases) whereas AZ based it upon negative tests results, therefore counting asymptomatic people who gave a positive PCR test. That's my theory, I'm no scientist though!

54 with no health conditions? So it might be worth my 54 yo impatient dh having a go?
carolinesbaby · 08/03/2021 10:33

Yep, he would be group 9 due to being over 50 but no other conditions. So yes, try it.

TeenMinusTests · 08/03/2021 11:14

I'm 53 and have just tried but no luck.
Happy to wait another week or 2 to book.

ilovenuts · 08/03/2021 11:36

Just managed to book DH it is for over 2 weeks away but I suppose by then it will be the "proper" turn of 55 year olds. He has no health conditions.

I had mine yesterday, the AZ one. I am 51 with health conditions.

Welikebeingcosy · 08/03/2021 12:07

I just booked my mum , 56 for hers. Asked my dad 55 if he would like me to try for him but he said to leave him alone and that the doctor will phone him when it's time.

Now I'm just wondering if when it gets down to the younger age groups and people don't show up or aren't as quick to book, will that slow things down or dy have a system

Welikebeingcosy · 08/03/2021 12:08
  • do they have a system where people can say yes or no straight away so they can make sure the times slots all get used efficiently?
ACovidofWitches · 08/03/2021 12:31

I really cheered to see the numbers yesterday.

Bordois · 08/03/2021 12:32

I had my first jab today. Was volunteering at the vaccination centre and there were a couple of no shows so I got one 🤩

FourTeaFallOut · 08/03/2021 16:38

Numbers look good:
Cases 4712
Deaths 65

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 08/03/2021 16:42

Excellent. It’s not such a big fall in cases as we have sometimes seen but there has been a big increase in testing because of schools going back so it’s understandable.

TeaInTheGarden · 08/03/2021 17:01

Definitely good case data considering all the extra testing going on!
Great to see the deaths just continuing to fall. Incredible progress and thank you science and vaccines!!

Pearl97 · 08/03/2021 19:37

The online booking system has gone from over 56 to over 55.

This might be as bad as it gets...

I was wondering if this was the case so good to hear it probably is
Ifyourefeelingsinister · 08/03/2021 20:10

That's interesting newtothenet.

This is very good to read
Inastatus · 08/03/2021 20:56

@newtothenet - I didn’t understand half of that but it sounds really positive 😅 As ever I’m in awe of these scientists!

OrangeBananaFish · 08/03/2021 21:25

Yeah it was a bit too clever for me. I think it was saying that Covid can't really mutate much more than it has for it to have any big effect. Is that right? If so then that is good news as that means it won't get any worse. As always time will tell I suppose.

Hope everyone has had a good first day back at school. It was like Christmas eve last night for DD2. DS doesn't care at all and DD1 is back tomorrow.
