Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Varients unlikely to stop the UK getting back to normal in summer.

Great. I need to log in to laptop to read but sounds promising

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - that video is great!

squashyhat · 07/03/2021 09:42

I haven't RTFT so don't know if this had already been shared but liked this positive story about a community coming together BBC News - Covid: 'How being a delivery man helps my autistic son'
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56253109

Disclaimer: I have no personal knowledge of autism so if anyone doesn't think this is appropriate (can't think why but you never know) I'm sorry.

Inastatus · 07/03/2021 09:53

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - I just had a little tear in my eye at that video. I am feeling ridiculously emotional about them going back to school! I’ll miss them both but so pleased to get some normality back.

@squashyhat - that’s a very heart warming story 😊

Just in case you thought all teachers not looking forwards to Monday. Make sure you watch the YouTube video Grin

Oh my goodness I love this. Made me shed a tear too to see them so kind and happy.

Really emotional. Lovely teachers (it’s been brutal on mn!)

Oh no, what are the doomploppers going to do now? Sad

not 100% effective
no protection from just 1 jab
dont prevent transmission
but variants

Any bets on the next sorrybut cry of doom?

What a great tweet.
And I'm also so grateful that my DH (56yrs) has just been booked in for his first covid vaccine next Saturday.! He's pretty healthy, but mild asthma & BAME group. His younger sister, who is thankfully mostly recovered (but not quite) was admitted to hospital last month with covid. Just such relief to be moving forward with vaccines and protecting more & more people.

OrangeBananaFish · 07/03/2021 10:29

I love that tweet. Brilliant.

Just got so excited about 0 covid deaths today. I see now it's technical difficulties or something.ShockBlush

WombatChocolate · 07/03/2021 16:17

The vaccines are over 400,000 again though. That’s good news. Means we’ve done about 2 million over 7 days.

Frazzled2207 · 07/03/2021 16:22

also we are on 22 million plus first doses. What % of the adult population is that? It won't be long until we get to half.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 17:05

I know 21.2 million was 40% of all adults.

When we get to 23.3 million that is a third of the UK population

Xenia · 07/03/2021 17:07

Yes, UK population about 70m and we will not be vaccinating children and I think nor pregnant women so we are getting an awful lot done of those will be vaccinated.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 17:12

Sorry that is 22.3 is a third of the UK population

great already past that then . Have googled and about 53 million adults in UK. So 26.5 million will be 50 % of adults. Less than 2 weeks to get there at this rate.
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 17:14

@Xenia

Sounds like I was closer the first time 😂
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/03/2021 17:17

Yes it is surprising how close to half of all adults we are. Shocking to realise that half the adults in the UK are on the priority list. I think that is something some of the opening up to soon people haven't realised. That and not clocked the speed we are vaccinating people. Though cases extra do need to continue to tumble downwards to of course

BigWoollyJumpers · 07/03/2021 17:52

Everyone I know in the 55+ locally have now booked as well, so in addition to those still waiting in the CV category, and various laggers from older age groups, we are really clattering along. Eagerly awaiting my 50+ call Grin.

I truly respect the posters here for their positivity and really enjoy reading this thread. I would however like to ask something about the table in that Twitter link. The efficacy of the various vaccines seem really positive all bar the AZ one. 70% against 90-95% for the others. have I misunderstood it?

Bordois · 07/03/2021 20:47

Deathshave really dropped now Smile

OrangeBananaFish · 07/03/2021 20:48

Just seen on the Data thread that deaths are 82. So back to double figures. Obviously condolences to the friends and families. We were wondering if we would see it this weekend.
