If they open up schools all at once, I'm done with every other precaution

If the 'leak' is true and they are stupid enough to open up all schools to all kids at the same time (thus leading to uncontrolled transmission of variants and increased risk of vaccine escape, further lockdowns and a redo of the vaccination programme) then I'm done with any kind of compliance.

I'm not staying at home like a fucking stupid sitting duck, waiting for my kids to come home with Covid anymore. The kids can see their friends, have sleepovers and we'll go out and about and visit friends and relatives and do the maximum we can.

You can pile in and call me selfish or whatever - I genuinely don't care anymore. I'm not putting my life on hold just for the government to fuck the recovery up again. I'm the most compliant of pretty much everyone I know but this is it for me, and many others I suspect (most of whom are already doing way more than me). If it's safe for my kids to go to school, then everything is safe.

mmm not sure i dismissed the deaths at all

i said 88% deaths were in top 4 vaccinated groups (so whilst some were younger, they were in one of those groups)

as such approx 14,500 were in groups 5 onwards

those top 4 will now be vaccinated - thats the point

Pastanred · 01/03/2021 17:26

so no matter the cases - potentially 88% wont be needing hospital treatment at all moving forwards

Silverthorny · 01/03/2021 17:31

@Pastanred no - I fumed! I don’t read properly...but I’m sure you posted yesterday that you and your social group of friends are ignoring guidelines and meeting up? Anything like that is making me bubble over at the moment. We’re so bloody close to getting out of this! I just don’t want things royally fucked up by people who can’t just wait a bit longer!

Problem is some people don’t understand their civic duty, you only have to look at what a bit of sunshine does to the public to see that.
Gov aren’t worried about our health they are worried about the state of the nhs that’s why on d day June 12 everything lifted and carry on regardless, most of us will have had jab and in their eyes that’s that.

some people still have vulnerable people in their households that haven't yet been vaccinated

I thought that the most vulnerable of dying have all been vaccinated by now?“

Asthma is a tricky one. Our son was originally on the CV list so would originally have been group 6. The criteria is changed now: to qualify as group 6 you have to take oral steroids (not via inhaler as he does) and have had several hospital admissions in the past year.

He also has severe hay fever so takes montelukast for 6 months of the year. This suppresses asthma symptoms too so he hasn’t had qualifying admissions for the past couple of years.

We’re partly relieved because hopefully now more is known it means he is actually less at risk of severe illness than previously thought. But at 18, he’ll have a long wait for his jabs and until then that underlying worry will always be there.
