Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

I haven’t been able to book either. I read somewhere that the group 6 were being contacted by their GPs.

I’m going to keep on trying though!

Rockbird · 15/02/2021 12:26

Nope. I check about every 15 minutes! Blush

samsonthecat · 15/02/2021 12:26

No but I got a text from my gp this morning and am having mine this afternoon.

Florelei · 15/02/2021 12:31

Excellent news @samsonthecat! Can I ask what general area you are in please?

SendMeHome · 15/02/2021 12:32

I’m midlands and we’ve been told that group 6 will be contacted by GPs rather than the online booking form, at least for the next fortnight or so.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 15/02/2021 12:33

Our GPS are contacting group 6 directly.

I think this is a national approach.

samsonthecat · 15/02/2021 12:37

I’m West Midlands

Boulshired · 15/02/2021 12:38

Group 6 is huge it would clog the booking system before group 5 could be completed. Just hoping it’s not alphabetical order from gps or I could be a while.

fizzyp0p · 15/02/2021 12:38

nope, i keep checking, use my NHS number etc

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 15/02/2021 12:38

Group 5 are being handled by the national system and group 6 by GPs, for the next few weeks at least so it’s likely to be a call or text from your GP rather than a letter.

RandomMess · 15/02/2021 12:39

My DH and various friends have been contacted by text over the weekend but not me yet 😭

Skap · 15/02/2021 12:41

The online booking site is not doing group 6. They can only be identified by GPs.
I imagine this is because there is no national database covering all the myriad groups who may be CV regardless of age, whereas the CEV were all on a central system.

quietyear · 15/02/2021 12:46

No.
My GP are doing 65-70s at the moment. No mention of group 6.

Bit of a downer if Group 6 can't book through the national booking system - plus logically it is a bit stupid since GPs are already overwhelmed without having sole responsibility for vaccinating this huge group (7 million?).

I also check the booking site each day and feel daily doom at reaching the 'Are you a healthcare/social care worker page?', which I assume means the computer says no, unless you are one of these workers.

quietyear · 15/02/2021 12:47

But actually I think the GP can code a person's medical records so that they can be detected for the national booking system (e.g. put a carer's code on your record? - is there something similar for severe asthma etc?)

Sweettea1 · 15/02/2021 12:47

My mums group 6 she got a text from gp with a link to follow to book last week an went next day for vac.

Butmiss · 15/02/2021 12:48

I got a text from my GP! My friend who also has severe asthma got a text but all the appointments have gone, I've told her to keep checking (London).

Rillington · 15/02/2021 13:00

No. My DH is in group 6. We got a text on Friday from our GP. I tried to book on the NHS one and it says not eligible.

ThatDamnKrampus · 15/02/2021 13:01

I'm group 6. I had my first jab as a walk up at our local hub (they were offering to carers without an appointment as they had capacity - it was empty when I went in), i had a nightmare sorting my second - constantly got computer doesn't recognize you after it told me I'd missed my second appointment (even though I'd only just had my first!). I have finally been recognised and have booked through the national system. I do appreciate that might be because I am on the system as I've already had a shot though.

FallenSky · 15/02/2021 13:07

Our GP said last week they were starting on 69 and 68 year olds. No updates since but I'm presuming this will now change with the new guidance? I'm group 6 but haven't heard anything yet. Not eligible through the national booking site.

pepperaunt · 15/02/2021 13:11

I’m Group 6. Consultant thought I’d be Group 4. Unfortunately it looks like my borough is behind, and GP has been highly unimpressive during the pandemic. Also tried online yesterday but was rejected.

Vanillaradio · 15/02/2021 13:13

I'm group 6 and it doesn't let me. However I know my GPs have nearly finished group 5 so hoping to be invited there soon.

x2boys · 15/02/2021 13:14

I just called my GP this morning to make sure I'm registered as a Carer ,he booked me in there and then for Saturday afternoon!

BrokenCircle · 15/02/2021 13:18

I’m group six and a teacher, and I am really, really hoping that I get a call for the jab this week. Are the vaccination centres open into the evening, does anyone know?

fizzyp0p · 15/02/2021 13:19

my mum is group 6 just called a number and has booked in. the number was a vaccine number for her area.

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2021 13:20

Can I please ask, how do you all know that you are categorically Group 6?
Have you got very clear cut conditions as the Green Book is quite vague...
