Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

Wales here, group 6 bookings are being made available now.

pinkearedcow · 16/02/2021 12:59

Oh, and being done at hubs, not GPs.

vonny63 · 16/02/2021 13:00

Group 6, called the GP this morning, and was sent a link to book. I have managed to get a slot for tomorrow evening. In East London and they are being done at two vaccination centres

Whatever9999 · 16/02/2021 13:52

Finally managed to get the carer coding added to my gp file yesterday, got the text message this afternoon, getting vaccine on Thursday. Best birthday present ever!!!

(East of England and getting it at the (not so) local primary care centre in the nearest town to where I am.

ImAncient · 16/02/2021 14:28

Just spoke to GP category 6 here in 2 weeks so a while.

MyBossIsATwat · 16/02/2021 15:18

I am so ridiculous. I know that group 6 are being done by GPs. There’s no doubt about that all. It even says it on the booking site now.

So why have I tried it twice today, telling myself ‘I’ll have a quick look just in case’? Just in case what, they’ve made an exception just for me, out of all the millions in group 6. I just can’t seem to help myself though 😂😂

I'm new into group 6 and Cheshire based and was contacted by my GP yesterday. Vaccination booked for Thursday.

Monty27 · 16/02/2021 15:24

I had a text from GP today attaching the link to book. I've booked for tomorrow 😃

@ImAncient

Just spoke to GP category 6 here in 2 weeks so a while.
Same, couple of weeks to go in my area.

Good that it is coming, but I'd quite like it before DC go back to school (plus a couple of weeks for it to become effective inside me).

Impatient now many in group 6 have been vaccinated and DC with clinically vulnerable parents will be in school again soon (not forgetting cv teachers and cv sixth formers) - all eligible for the vaccine as priorities, but not necessarily going to get it before schools reopen...

FebFrosting · 16/02/2021 17:34

Still anxiously waiting here. No idea of started on Group 6 here as nothing on GP website/Facebook page and it says do not contact us.

AgntOso · 16/02/2021 18:11

Both myself and my friend are group 6 due to caring for disabled children. She had a text today to book for the vaccine from the gp. I called to ask if I could have one/ check I was down as a carer and was told I am group 6 but need to wait.

Lemonsyellow · 16/02/2021 18:14

I’m group 6 due to cancer treatment but haven’t heard anything yet. Dr surgery website says not to contact them. So I’ll wait, I guess.

rslsys · 16/02/2021 19:55

Got our invitations today, went on-line to book to find that nearest vaccine centre being offered is 94 mile round trip away, and the furthest is 360 miles away in Brighton, we live near Norwich!
Called 119 and they offered us the same options!

Abraxan · 17/02/2021 13:23

I've been bumped up and, after being told yesterday it might be a few weeks yet, I have an appointment for my first vaccine next week!

When they called me I was surprised at how excited I felt!

brunetteonthebus · 17/02/2021 14:10

I'm in group 6 due to being a carer and had a text from my GP surgery this morning telling me that they're now doing G6 and to keep my phone on, they will ring me to book in the next seven days. I'm in the Home Counties.

Sleepyblueocean · 17/02/2021 16:00

I'm group 6 due to being a carer and since I get carers allowance I expect I will eventually be contacted through that. Except that if only one of us can be vaccinated we want it to be dh because I can't physically manage ds on my own whereas dh can. We have both filled the surgery online carer form so will have wait and see what happens.

wlv12 · 17/02/2021 16:03

Waiting to hear about DH - group 6 due to being a carer and nothing on GP surgery fb page/says not to ring. I wish I knew if they’d even started group 6!

FebFrosting · 17/02/2021 16:40

I called 119 as heard nothing and 119 said they cannot book Group 6 and to contact our Gp. As our Gp have a “do not contact us policy” and receptionist staff will not allow anyone to talk to a Gp about vaccination or about anything just have an anxious few weeks waiting.

I will probably see two of my NHS consultants before I receive my vaccination now.

Rahgh · 17/02/2021 16:56

Group 6 here - I rang the local hub booking number and no problem at all booking in! I was shocked as thought I’d have to wait fir GP but thrilled to be getting it Saturday!

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 18:10

Group 6 only started on Monday. There are 7 million people in this group. If people haven't heard from their GPs yet it's not really surprising, it will take a while to get through 7 million people.

Flump9 · 17/02/2021 20:05

I've found I'm feeling impatient now that it is my group, I felt alright before because it wasn't my turn but I'm not liking this waiting for a phone call. What do you think will happen in a couple of weeks when group 5 are done do you think they will allow group 6 to book through the national booking or will it move on to group 7 even though group 6 won't be finished? There's a pharmacy hub nearby to me, closer than where the vaccine centre for my gp is where I'm supposed to go when I get called and they keep posting on fb that they have plenty of appointments for over 65's so it's frustrating that I can't go there. Or I would be able to get to one of the major hubs easily and save the gp vaccine centre slot for people with no transport.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 20:08

No, I think the national hubs will keep working down the ages because that's straightforward to do. Group 6 is really complicated and needs to be managed by GPs. It would be really difficult for the national booking system to know who is group 6 and who isn't. It was different with group 4 because all those who were shielding were registered as shielding centrally so there was a central database. I know it's hard but we're moving through them so rapidly now, try and stay patient, don't driver yourself to despair. It'll be really soon for you.

ExpulsoCorona · 17/02/2021 20:10

Also there will be a fair bit of overlap with the ages and group 6, the majority of group 6 are likely to be over 50

No and it's my understanding it isn't being opened to G6, direct contact from GP only.

I feel very lucky to have had mine already, our group of surgeries is doing really well. However, they've been told they have to stop doing G6 & only do G5 now.

I would email the surgery to check you have been correctly coded and are in G6.

Good luck getting it soon.

Sophiesdog2020 · 17/02/2021 20:21

My young adult DC both got a text at the same time this afternoon from GP, I didn’t - even though my condition is definitely in Gp 6 list (TIA). So the texts are not just based on alphabet 😂.

I have no idea how the GPs are selecting who to invite first but given that my GP has refused other medication due to TIA history, I will be peed off if I have to chase them up, as my history is definitely on the system.

We are not even sure why DS has been called. He had very mild asthma as a child and a potential (but not confirmed) kidney problem - being monitored but no detriment to kidneys as yet. There is obviously something on system that puts him in Group 6, but we don’t know what!

Hopefully I will be texted in the next week or 2 - I did try the booking site but it didn’t let me on.
