Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

I am in the south east and just tried but can't book online as a group six. So disappointing! Lol

pommedeterre · 18/02/2021 15:54

I am group 6 and got a text message from my GP with a link to follow for booking an appointment.

pommedeterre · 18/02/2021 15:54

I didn't know I was group six until I got the message!

DarceyDashwood · 18/02/2021 15:55

I think the problem is that people don’t know how long they should wait before querying with their GP!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2021 15:57

@pommedeterre I have seen a few posters saying they had gestational diabetes so if you have ever had that it could be it!

Oldsu · 18/02/2021 16:02

Actually in my Area Group 6 were not contacted by our GPs it was felt that Group 5 were more complicated so our GPs were concentrating on them, at first I was bloody angry as the online one was only giving out appointments in a centre miles from me, and I would have had to wait until all Group 5 were seen until I was given one in the centre nearer to me the one my 71 yo DH was able to go to but I felt that getting the jab as soon as possible was more important - in the end it wasn't too bad except I had nasty side effects

pommedeterre · 18/02/2021 16:08

Haven't had GD ever. I think I have worked it out though, I have a blood autoimmune disease which isn't group 6 but because of it I had a hospital admission with a bad lung problem. I think that hospital admissions for lung complications may trigger a group 6 vaccine.

Yes, my partner got a letter saying he could book online or wait for his GP to contact him, he booked online and has his tomorrow, I’m finally having mine tomorrow as well, I had to delay due to covid. We have luckily managed to book them 40 minutes apart so we don’t have to take my son inside the vaccine centre.

MyBossIsATwat · 18/02/2021 16:25

It’s interesting that some group 6 people have been able to use the site and it seems it’s down to what trust area they’re in.

It does make me think though that if some trusts can manage to transfer the group 6 info to the national system, then why can’t they all?!

Perhaps that’s the plan and they’re doing it in a staggered way to avoid crashing the system, which makes sense, but if that’s the case I’d really like to know so I can stop wondering about it all the time.

Like others have said, it’s the uncertainty that’s driving me mad. If someone could just tell me there’s no point checking my phone for at least 3 weeks but then I should look for a text - fine.

Thankfully, I am now sorted following message with Gp and appointment booked for next week.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2021 17:35

Great news @Frazzled6

FebFrosting · 18/02/2021 17:39

Great news @Frazzled6

Sadly Gp refusing to talk to any patients and admin staff is only contact. So no good news here apart from been told if not heard of jab by 31/3 can phone to book one.

BondiRescueHoppo · 18/02/2021 17:41

Myself and DD are both group 6, when chatting with GP receptionist on the phone today about an unrelated matter, I said I bet they're getting a lot of calls re vaccines and how do us patients know we're in the correct group?

To which she replied that they have different lists for each group, so when I said I thought we were group 6, she checked the list and said yes, we could book an appointment - first available being next week.

I also have had a shielding letter this time so the vaccine couldn't have come at a better time Smile

ImAncient · 18/02/2021 19:18

A neighbouring borough is vaccinating some under 50s. No health conditions as far as I’m aware. I’m still waiting- they said 2 weeks & confirmed I’m group 6.

Sadless · 19/02/2021 12:14

I am in group 6 as a carer should I email the drs and ask if they are know that I am.
I don't want to ring because the receptionist are nasty.

I emailed the GP as a carer to be told I was down as a carer but not coded as a carer as the did not have proof of carers allowance on their files. I had to email the document even though it is not required to be classed as a carer. If I had not of emailed I would not of been included.

Sadless · 19/02/2021 12:39

Just sent one I think they are doing group 6 at my drs my dad got an appointment for Saturday he's 62 with diabetes. My mums husband had is on Wednesday he 60 with cancer both appointments at the local surgery. But my mum had has yesterday at a hub shes 67 and my uncle is 66 with asthma and has been asked to go to a hub.
Hope they reply.

Sadless · 19/02/2021 14:12

Got a reply says they have amended my records to carer status which will be picked up when they run the search and I will be contacted in due course to booked an appointment.

Thanks
Sal

Well despite being registered as a carer with my GP and having been so for a long time. They are now insisting on being in receipt of carers allowance or a carers passport.

They have put me in touch with adult services as my local council in order to get confirmation of my status as a carer. I rang the council who were annoyed at the doctors and took my name and number and promised me someone will get back to me.

Honestly I don’t think I’ll bother. It’s not worth it.

Bluebolt · 19/02/2021 15:13

I was told similar as I couldn’t at first find my carers award. I asked them to provide an email as carers allowance is not required for being a carer and quoted the JCVI. They suddenly became reluctant in putting in writing but instead phoned as said they would temporarily code me but I would be reported if I didn’t provide evidence. They wouldn’t put this in writing either. This is for my child who is registered at the surgery.

pinkhappy · 19/02/2021 15:21

Group 6 here. Website says I am not eligible and no word from the GP. I thought I would wait until we have vaccinated 20 million before I contact them.

bungobango · 19/02/2021 15:48

I called my gp reception and they said I am not in group 6 because it doesn't mention mental health problems! I tried to argue with them but no avail.

dystopianGP · 19/02/2021 15:58

@bungobango

I called my gp reception and they said I am not in group 6 because it doesn't mention mental health problems! I tried to argue with them but no avail.
The green book says a person is in group 6 if they have 'severe mental illness' and carer is in group 6 if they care for someone with 'severe mental illness' (the carer bit was in a letter to all GPs sent a few days ago)
