Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

@brunetteonthebus same situation as me, early 30’s no route to vaccine other than as a carer for my ds, you need to let your gp know you are on carers allowance, that’s what I did and I’m added onto the list x

@quietyear I feel like they should just open the national booking now to group 7 too and make the best possible use of the centres if it needs GPs to deal with group 6, otherwise it risks really slowing things down. I don’t see it matters too much what order the groups are done in as long as they are getting done and getting vaccinations into people as fast as we can. Plus group 7 will have more people still working so start to pick up some teachers etc.

SlayDuggee · 15/02/2021 20:34

Here they have only just started group 5 today. My 70+ inlaw only had their jab this weekend. Whereas my 65 year old aunt on the next county has already had hers

Sadless · 15/02/2021 20:44

Where is everybody in the country to give an idea what group they are on to.

My GP surgery isn’t doing vaccinations as we’re 20 minutes from a mass vaccination hub so they’re sending everyone there. So how’s that going to work if group 6 can’t book at the hub?

quietyear · 15/02/2021 20:57

And conversely, my GP have just posted online that they are currently doing Group 5 and once that is done they will move onto Group 6 Confused

That is the opposite problem. Group 5 are supposed to be at the mass hub or community pharmacists, not the GP (although they are allowed to request a GP vaccine if they want).

If GPs are doing Group 5 when these should be going through the national booking system, it will just be longer until group 6 get done.

CavernousScream · 15/02/2021 20:58

@JellyBabiesSaveLives are you sure it’s a mass vaccine hub and not a large GP led consortium centre?

I really agree with this, made an appt today for my in laws (late 60s) and was astonished that the v local big hub had literally the whole week of appointments available, I struggled to find one that was taken. The hubs should crack on with all over 60s if it takes the gps to organise group 6 (obviously if there's a way of directing group 6 to mass hubs this should be done ASAP!)

FebFrosting · 15/02/2021 21:09

I would like national booking open to Group 6, it worked for Group 4 here ok.

Pixxie7 · 15/02/2021 21:10

I am fortunate is so far that my daughter is heading up a vaccine centre so has managed to get me an appointment.

Lemonsyellow · 15/02/2021 21:13

Are you actually entitled to a vaccine yet? Your daughter is abusing her position, it seems, which is shocking.
andisaidgo · 15/02/2021 21:14

Group 6 and have my appointment through the GP on Thursday as I have the Coeliac condition. Have cancer as well but the coeliac puts me more at risk.

Boulshired · 15/02/2021 21:16

We have no local hub and group CEV are still being vaccinated this week. Group 5 are being allowed to book in the local area and the out of town hub. So it’s looking at two weeks before the GPs can even begin to start group 6, unless they can offer the hub to group 6. The joy of being sandwiched between two cities. We are already in a bottleneck from the first four tiers.

Abraxan · 15/02/2021 21:18

My colleague in her 20s who is Cv had her vaccine today.
She lives in a different part of the city to me.

I live in an area with a large elderly population, and a GP surgery who have never been the best at being organised or quick with anything - for example, I never wait for them to call me for my flu jab as it would be December/January by the time they get round to me. It's quicker to go in September/early October to the local pharmacy who will do my free one there instead with no wait.

I'm not even sure I could guarantee they'd got me ticked in the right group. Hoping I can get some form of check when I have my nurse appointment tomorrow,

Abraxan · 15/02/2021 21:20

I don't understand why group 6 can't be done at hubs. They are generally younger and probably more able to travel.

Surely there should be a system that would enable surgeries and hospital consultant/departments to flag their CV patients onto a national network to identify them.

SendMeHome · 15/02/2021 21:36

I’ve just realised that my DH has a condition that puts him on the group 6 list. He hasn’t had any contact - wasn’t advised to shield, hadn’t heard from our GP. He doesn’t want to chase it, as his condition is mild and he doesn’t feel he deserves to get it so much earlier than everyone else...

It’s going to be an effort and a half for all the group six people to be identified. That linked-up NHS system that was supposed to be delivered a decade ago sure sounds useful now...

I hope everyone waiting hears soon.

TheCrowening · 15/02/2021 21:38

I’m group 6 based on medical need as I have a BMI of 45 with a history of chest infections/pleurisy (though my GP hasn’t got either flagged on their system even though I was hospitalised with pleurisy 10 years ago) but actually should have been group 2 because of my job (children’s social worker) and I haven’t had my vaccine yet. I’ve had to book out of area for next week and drive for an hour, or I’d end up waiting until general population. I don’t want to jump the queue but I’ve been patient and all my colleagues have had theirs, I just live in a slightly different area to my colleagues and my GP won’t refer me locally.

Deelish75 · 15/02/2021 22:00

DP is waiting to hear. He hasn’t seen anyone medical regarding his condition in years (brain haemorrhage as a teenager, now fully recovered). He’s had no respiratory function problems and the only medication he’s on is the annual flu jab. Early on in the pandemic he spoke to his GP who didn’t seem concerned so who knows when he’ll get a text or call.

Earlier on LBC they were saying that they may be able to get through all of groups 5 & 6 by end of March with the speed at which the vaccine rollout is going - something to do with the daily vaccination doses increasing between early Dec to now therefore there’s not as many 2nd doses at the moment.

icedancerlenny · 15/02/2021 22:06

I’m group 6. I just rang my GP this morning and they booked the appointment for tomorrow.

ImAncient · 15/02/2021 22:19

I’m group 6. I spoke to GPS this morning & they are still doing group 5. We have a huge hub near us but no the GPs are sending people to the surgery. They said they hope to start group 6 in a couple of weeks. I won’t be protected when the schools go back. I’ll try again in a couple of days.

Thanks for starting this OP 👏👏👏

HSHorror · 15/02/2021 22:51

Are asthma exacerbations

  • More than one?
-is that after diagnosis?
ImAncient · 16/02/2021 08:43

Still not able to book. 😬

Abraxan · 16/02/2021 11:54

Had a nurse appointment today and confirmed I'm definitely flagged on their system - yeah! Just that little reassurance is good.

We have a large older demographic though so they're only just moving into group 5.

I have had my name added to a short 'happy to be called at no notice, any day/time' list, though they'll call group 5 on their last minute list first.

Florelei · 16/02/2021 12:48

Looks like the online booking system might be down. It won’t let me go through the questions.

Florelei · 16/02/2021 12:50

I hope I haven’t broken it trying to book too many times.😬
