Has anyone in group 6 had any success using the NHS jab booking site?

I am group 6 and have been checking at least once a day. I feel the urge to check about once an hour now and I know it’s not healthy!

Has anyone in group 6 been able to use it yet? I think I want the answer to be ‘no’ because then I can hopefully get over my obsession and resign myself to waiting to be contacted by my GP.

Group 6 can book if in the area 2 miles from my house but not where I a as large group of Gp’s sending to a big hub. So seems to vary.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 19/02/2021 16:24

I got the first one yesterday ( I didn't see it until this morning) and I got all excited and before I could reply YESCOVID I got the second message.... but it's still great. I didn't think I would be group 6 but I last had steroids and nebulisers over Christmas and I have to have them a few times a year on top of my inhalers.

@dystopianGP I have schitzoaffective and if I wouldn't take my meds I would be seriously ill. Now I am more or less stable.
I will call again on Monday

danni0509 · 19/02/2021 16:50

I posted earlier in the thread, I contacted my gp Monday (group 6, carer for ds) they said they would phone me within the next month.

They phoned me this afternoon and I have it at a vaccine hub Monday afternoon. (10 minute drive)

danni0509 · 19/02/2021 16:53

I’m a little nervous. (Not of injections or anything) just any side affects and she said I had to stay for 15 minutes afterwards incase of anaphylaxis which has worried me.

vjg13 · 19/02/2021 16:54

I'm group 6 and was sent a text invite from my GP to book last Friday and had my vaccine today. My 22 year old daughter with SLD (also group 6) cannot be booked yet, GP is trying to organise it.

ineedaholidayandwine · 19/02/2021 16:56

Haven't a bloody clue which group i'm in (assumed after the top 9?!) but i got a text today saying i could book, going for the vaccine on Sunday

Having seen some replies here and having talked to a GP this morning - who, when I said I thought I would be in group six as a carer he's said do you receive CA? I said yes and he thought I would be called with the group six (within the month) but I don't know if they will get a list of people who receive CA so I have emailed in a copy of my CA allowance letter this afternoon.

However! I didn't think you needed to be in receipt of CA to be in group six? So not quite sure what is going on. Haven't heard anything back yet.

vjg13 · 19/02/2021 17:57

The GP needs to have you down as a carer on their system. I receive carer's allowance but my husband doesn't and we were both invited at the same time. GP did not require proof. My daughter whom we care for is at the same GP.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 19/02/2021 18:09

That's good @vjg13

Sorry, don’t have time to RTfT, but on the off chance it helps...different areas are choosing to do thing differently, so Nottingham, for example, allow group six to book via the queue website, but only about three areas are doing this so far. Why they can’t just agree a nation strategy is beyond me.
Also, why GPs don’t just post regular weekly brief updates to field the huge amount of calls all asking similar questions is also lost on me. My surgery are being really bogged down by people enquiring about where they are up to, but they don’t update any of their social media or website. I know this would take time (5 mins?) but surely it must be an economy for the amount of callers it would deflect and also a kindness for people who are genuinely anxious.
Anyway...here’s the link!

I'm group 6 and feel quite fortunate to live in Nottinghamshire!

I booked online on Weds (didn't have a text but my GP had updated my coding on the system so I was able to book) and had the AZ vaccine yesterday.
It was really well organised and very efficient - and for those worried, I've had no side effects (been 24 hours) apart from a sore arm and just feeling a bit tired.

I was also allowed to leave straight away - they only keep you for 15 minutes if you've driven yourself there.

ShaunaTheSheep · 20/02/2021 05:24

The clinic I went to was asking everyone to wait 15 minutes after the jab - no mention of travel arrangements. They did take next of kin contact details on arrival.

vjg13 · 20/02/2021 08:48

Does it depend which vaccine you get? I had to wait 15 mins after the Pfizer.

freezingcoldsnow · 22/02/2021 14:08

DH just spoke with 119 who confirmed that anyone in receipt of carers allowance will be able to book online from Thursday. Not helpful for people who earn too much for carers allowance though. Our GP is refusing to allow carers access to early vaccination.

Sevensilverrings · 22/02/2021 14:25

Thanks @freezingcoldsnow, that’s really helpful, I wonder if that’s also for the people with the Carers flag on notes?
I still don’t understand why GPs are gatekeeping this so individually.

bungobango · 22/02/2021 14:29

I just put my information in that page and computer said no. But I have already a appointment on Thursday through gp.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 22/02/2021 14:45

@freezingcoldsnow That is excellent news. I know many carers don't actually get CA but this will mean those that do can go to the big hubs therefore freeing up space at the GPs.

Bluebolt · 22/02/2021 14:59

I bet the carers phone line is busy at the moment, there is going to be a lot of people wanting proof of entitlement or copies.

That's true actually. Should also free up GP time etc 👍

Apparently a letter is coming out to everyone in receipt of CA ahead of Thursday.
Bluebolt · 22/02/2021 15:46

That pretty good organisation, I’m impressed.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 22/02/2021 20:43

The government online booking system now mentions you can book if you receive CA but when I try it doesn't let me proceed? Anyone being successful?

Not here but we're wondering if it will update overnight or something. I think it's only just changed wording.
TheGoodEnoughWife · 22/02/2021 21:06

Yes really recent as I had checked earlier and it didn't say it then.
