@alreadytaken

There are some occupations I really want to see vaccinated..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................anyone who works in meat packing factories or prisons, no doubt they cause outbreaks.
Absolutely this. Meat packing places are awful, I've posted elsewhere about their working conditions, and the gov.U.K. Cases map shows where the prisons are because they're the only purple spots still left on the map.

Someone asked upthread about postal test results - my mum did one last week, sent it off Wednesday afternoon and got the result on Thursday morning!!!

carolinesbaby · 21/02/2021 11:38

Although tou are right about getting everyone done by July solves the problem anyway.

BBC News - Coronavirus: Latest data shows vaccine reduces transmission - Hancock
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56145392

Rather old news by now but just been confirmed again by the BBC

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/02/2021 12:33

Worth repeating again and again and again for all the people who are STILL saying ‘the vaccine just stops you getting seriously ill you know, it doesn’t have any effect on transmission’!

alreadytaken · 21/02/2021 13:13

If you really follow the science then vaccinating where you know there have been outbreaks before makes sense. Vaccinate all prison staff of any age. Yes there would be a lot of whining - but the places I've mentioned are large employers with a big - and indisputable - impact on transmission. Take a mobile van (or bus as it's Doris) and park outside the factories and you'll cut infection and transmission 3 weeks later. Makes no significant difference to calling the rest of the population by age band as you could have them all done in a day.

Another random post by me.... completely unrelated to Covid, but definitely good news regarding Spring: A bright yellow Brimstone butterfly is currently "butterflying" around my garden Grin. That's really early? Couldn't believe it. DH has been clearing undergrowth though, so I wonder whether he disturbed it.

Testing is really rapid at the moment. I've been ridiculously and inexplicably fatigued for over a week so did a test yesterday. It went in the 5pm Saturday post and I was texted at 7am this morning with the (negative) result. It's amazing that they are getting collected and delivered at the weekend and turned around so quickly.

I had a test in September at a walk in place and that took over 3 days to come back.

Yes they do seem to have much improved on getting the results out.

My dh did a test at a walk in centre, the last slot at night before closing...he had the result by the time he woke up at 7am next morning.

Then I went to the same place but first thing in the morning, I expected it to take longer because of having to wait for a “full batch” to send off but I had the results back by 7.30pm.

I then had a postal test which took 24hours to arrive, then I did it and put it straight back in the post box within the hour, and had results 36 hours later.

@BigWoollyJumpers I was out today and saw two Red Admirals and a big fuzzy bumblebee.

It made me feel so hopeful. Grin

Autumn101 · 21/02/2021 15:57

The sun is shining here for the first time in what feels like forever!

Earlier the DC were playing in the garden, birds were singing and I was pottering in the kitchen and it just felt so normal and lovely.

I hope everyone who’s been jabbed or tested positive is doing well and here’s to a quick recovery for you all

Emlemily · 21/02/2021 16:26

17.5 million first doses administered now. Hopefully we'll hit 20 million by this time next week.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 16:58

Hello - couldn't stay away long.

Brilliant to see cases sub 10k today! And vaccinations are doing alright on a week that we knew the supply would be a little squeezed.

I really can't wait till tomorrow so we all know what's ahead of us. I'm beginning to feel more hopeful again (although I've just posted on the coronavirus board off this thread so that isn't a good start Blush)

Awesome to see you got your jab Fuzzy - hope you are feeling ok?

Do we have any gin left?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 21/02/2021 16:59

Treaclepie19 · 21/02/2021 17:03

Welcome back FourTeaFallOut!

I have gin. Half a bottle to share 😊
I may make my next gin box come early...

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 17:07

Thanks treacle! Ooh, gin box sounds good. Maybe that's what I need in my life? I've decided I'm going to hire a hot tub for the Mother's Day weekend - a fancy gin might be the icing on the cake.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 21/02/2021 17:12

Oh a hot tub sounds good.

The sun has been out all day here. Really feeling like spring is close. Only a week left of February then March is often good weather Smile

Definitely emotionally all over the place waiting for Boris tomorrow 🙈

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/02/2021 17:12

You can hire hot tubs??
To go outside or inside? How does it work with the plumbing? It just sounds really fun!

MarshaBradyo · 21/02/2021 17:13

Welcome back Four 😀

Finally Feb 22 tomorrow, a bit nerve wracking

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 17:23

Yeah, it's a real rollercoaster, white knuckle ride. Hopefully the leaks will come thick and fast early on to put us out of our misery.

I read a really good article in the Telegraph that was absolutely scathing about how EU leaders have completely eroded all the trust capital in the az vaccine and loads of people unnecessarily vulnerable. I can't remember exactly what the uptake was - I could look if you're interested- but the point was very little of which they have available had been used.

Before I'm accused of schadenfreude from the murkers - I think what's good about that is that we've had our fair share of people attempting to sabotage the roll out in similar ways but our trust capital in our scientists, for the most part, seems rock steady (off this bloody board). The number of people willing to take the vaccines hasn't changed since the vaccine was just a neat and tidy concept and not a political pin ball.

Upshot, I think I need to improve my opinion of our general public - when you stop listening to all the noise here, the media, social media and watch the actions of the masses, well, they're a stoic bunch really.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 17:25

Yes you can hire them. They come around and set it up and take it away. You need a power source, we have an outdoor socket but I think you could feed it through a window if you can bear the draft!

Hi Marsha Smile

FuzzyPuffling · 21/02/2021 17:32

Yikes I feel really bad again. Chills and aching and dizzy and I keep falling asleep. Good job I didn't get covid.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 17:37

Aw Fuzzy, sounds exhausting. Hope you're over the worst of it soon.Flowers

Treaclepie19 · 21/02/2021 17:42

@FourTeaFallOut we get a box from the craft gin club. It's really good! I managed to get a discount on the first few boxes but I'd happily pay full price. A full bottle of gin, mixers, syrup, liqueur and snacks.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish Fuzzy Flowers

I've not been feeling great so been and had a test this morning. Not the main symptoms but figured since it's lingering on it was worth checking.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/02/2021 17:56

I think that's a good move treacle, fingers crossed it's a run of the mill seasonal thing.
