Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Yes very good news.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/02/2021 16:18

Congratulations to all those that have got their vaccination 🥳

Hugs to those feeling a bit crappy at the moment ❤

I am very jealous of all the people volunteering. Would love to be able to do that myself. So well done we all appreciate it 🥰

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/02/2021 16:23

Fairly reassuring set of figures today!
Congratulations to everyone who has had their jab.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/02/2021 16:25

Some decent drops in all the daily figures again

Plus hospital admissions and patients in hospital still going down nicely

An example of this is my own local health care trust. It consists of five large London hospitals. The trust this week is down to single figures for hospital admissions. It now only has between the five hospitals around 360 patients in hospital with covid. If you take into account some of these patients will be in for other reasons and just happen to test positive for covid. Well we are getting there.

I am so hopeful deaths are going to absolutely plummet over the next few weeks.
The deaths being sadly announced now, will be from people who have been ill for a few weeks. They would have needed to be vaccinated 2-3 weeks before that to not have got infected.
So that takes us back 5/6 weeks- at that point we had only vaccinated around 3 million people....
Combined with the huge reduction in cases in the last 5/6 weeks due to lockdown.... we should see deaths massively drop very soon, and hopefully never get anywhere near as high ever again!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/02/2021 16:38

Agree it is about those deaths. Which are still going down nicely but plummeting sounds much better.

Which is why I am watching hospitals to see if less people are getting seriously ill That won't show what is happening in care homes etc mind.

Does anyone have any experience with how long it normally takes results from the home testing kits to come back? Sent off my 2nd one yday just to make sure I am negative...

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/02/2021 18:48

Whoop whoop StarStar fantastic news Fuzzy! Hurrah.

Blerg · 20/02/2021 20:08

@louisejxxx on the tests - we have done many now! They vary quite a bit (7 days in the last wave). Most recent one was about 36 hrs.

TJ17 · 20/02/2021 20:27

@louisejxxx a family member did a home test on 17th Jan (posted on 18th) and had result 20th Thanks

I've got a spot of "jabflu"! Fell asleep this afternoon, now a bit achy, sleepy and have a slight temperature. But I've had a paracetamol and I really am ok. And I have a very over reactive immune system.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/02/2021 21:05

And I didn't get a sticker. Swizz!

Thanks so much both - this unsupervised helpful to counteract some significant doom I couldn’t escape today Grin

Would it be poking the doomers too much to make some predictions for Monday? I don't want to start a bun-fight so I'll see what others think first. Grin
