Quick question, has anyone heard anything about Moderna recently, I believe that was due to be delivered from March? Vaccinations looking really impressive, a third of the adult population done now I think?

tobee · 19/02/2021 23:42

I thought Moderna was April???

Just saw my Dr John Campbell video from today. He got his jab yesterday. A lucky recipient of a leftover dose!

tobee · 19/02/2021 23:44

According to bbc article from 8th January the Moderna vaccine will be "arriving in the spring" in the U.K.

TeaInTheGarden · 19/02/2021 23:48

Aw I’ve not watched John Campbell for a few days. Bet he was super chuffed to get his jab! Good for him.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 19/02/2021 23:48

An old headline

COVID-19: UK approves use of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine and orders 10 million more doses
Matt Hancock calls it "another weapon in our arsenal to tame this awful disease" - though doses will not be available until March.

Visitors are going to be allowed to care homes

That's wonderful news. I really do feel for people in homes. It will be amazing for them to get visitors even if it is only 1 to begin with. Hopefully as the vaccine keeps being rolled out it won't be long before it's more than 1.

I had started to feel optimistic lately but today just feels hard. Any chocolate left?

I haven't slept more than 5 hours a night this week, I'm shattered.
I feel like my body clock is all to cock. I feel like a zombie most of the day but then the second my head hits the pillow at night my brain switches on and I can't stop thinking about everything from dinner the next day to where we can go on our walk the next day, I feel too hot or too cold or I'm lying the wrong way. Then worry if ds has a school place from one week to the next. It's bizarre. Then because of that, I'm properly awake.

I've been able to cope with it this week as I've been on leave but don't know how I'll cope with it if it doesn't improve when I'm back at work next week.

Awww hugs to you - you will get through this although I really really feel for you and understand how hard it is. I wish I could offer you some advice but I think at the moment it's just that we have to do our very best to get through it and look to the other side of the rainbow with hope that things will get better.

My heart absolutely goes out to you.

Delurking again for solidarity. PPs struggling with mental health have put it perfectly into words for me. The brain fog, drained to exhaustion, no patience, nowhere to escape to mentally. I've been on antidepressants since the beginning of the year which is helping a bit but I can't shake the empty feeling.

But in positive news, my dad has had his first dose, my mom (64) has booked her appt for tomorrow! And her 2nd dose on 10th May, so that's great news. The children can't wait to start spending time with their grandparents again

We're also waiting to hear about DD1's secondary place, only 9 days to go!

thatgingergirl · 20/02/2021 11:14

Had my jab this morning. I thought I'd been so good, digging out my NHS medical card (issued in 1991). But I couldn't be found on "the system". Turns out my card has my name spelled incorrectly - I never noticed, although I'm not entirely sure when I've ever used it before anyway! Made sure I got my sticker.

I had been so unbothered which vaccine I got, but DH had the O/AZ earlier in the week and I started to really want that one for reasons I can't even identify! Absolutely made myself not ask before it was administered, and was chuffed that it was indeed O/AZ.

Feeling a bit down now though as DF has to have an x-ray this afternoon - had a COPD check yesterday and has been prescribed some ABs - guess some infection brewing. He's ok in himself. Hope the ABs kick in quickly, I really don't want him to be poorly.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/02/2021 11:24

I'm jabbed! Like thatgingergirl I had an Oxford AZ one and am pleased, not that I really cared! My arm is already a touch stiff ( one hour post vaccination) but that's just how I roll.
Next one booked for May 15th.
Happy.

Inastatus · 20/02/2021 11:28

@LivinLaVidaLoki - sorry you are struggling. Lack of sleep always makes things feel even worse too! Have you tried Kalms (the nighttime ones?) or valerian tablets? They might help. I hope you get a decent nights sleep soon.
@thatgingergirl - great news about your vaccine! Hope the AB’s do the trick for your Dad.

Treaclepie19 · 20/02/2021 12:24

Glad to hear of more vaccinations ❤

@LivinLaVidaLoki I can offer plenty of chocolate. We had a delivery yesterday.
A thoelrntons Easter egg? Orange bunny? Mini cadbury eggs? Dairy milk? Twirl?
I'm back to being strict so it's all just sat there teasing me.

Level75 · 20/02/2021 13:22

Yey!! @FuzzyPuffling

Lovely yellow jacket Vulpes. I hope you get to use it very soon. And thank you for being a volunteer.

Checking back in to check if I’ve gone mad again....

One friend trying to organise birthday weekend away for around 10 friends last weekend of August - in UK.

EVERYONE invited is deep in the doom, literally saying it WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I said that I’m hopeful given it’s likely that most people will be vaccinated by then. Apparently this was a ridiculous statement.

Sanity check - am being mad?

InterfectoremVulpes · 20/02/2021 15:51

Not mad at all!

InterfectoremVulpes · 20/02/2021 16:03

17.2m first doses given as of yesterday 🥳

10,406 cases and 405 deaths reported

Inastatus · 20/02/2021 16:04

@FuzzyPuffling - yay for your vaccine! I hope you don’t suffer too much with the side effects.

ArianaVenti · 20/02/2021 16:05

@1990s definitely not mad at all. I think we'll even be vaccinating kids by then tbh

ArianaVenti · 20/02/2021 16:10

My own good news - dh got jabbed yesterday which I'm so relieved about. He's only 40s but lots of chronic health conditions, i wasn't sure if any of them would qualify officially but obviously still worried he'd be higher risk from having several so it's a massive weight off.

Anecdotally I've heard of so many people getting it in the last few days or booked this weekend, we're definitely getting there...

louisejxxx · 20/02/2021 16:13

10th day in a row of deaths below 1000, 3rd day below 600 which I think is great considering those days were weekdays.
