Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

It’s bizarre all those posters.

I very much hope we don’t follow, primary especially.

TheChineseChicken · 18/02/2021 19:00

Agreed

Same Marsha, ds is at school as we are both critical workers but really wish all his friends were back.

On a different note: mobile.twitter.com/skepticalzebra/status/1362451340333617157 this made me giggle

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/02/2021 19:09

Most of us are basically going to be in a state of on and off wobbles until 22nd aren't weSad

My sleep has been even worse than normal since last week. Just need to know the plan. Stupid media and there guess work really not helping

At least my year 10 child is a bit more himself this week. That is something I suppose

I've just been reading that NI thread and now feel really down 😔

I am literally desparate for my 5 yo (y1) to go back to school. He’s become so withdrawn lately.
Am not so hopeful about my 8 yo but at least he is coping with it all so much better. Will be glued to Twitter all weekend for the usual “leaks”

Shehz21 · 18/02/2021 19:29

The funny thing is in my local area, most teachers can't wait to be back, albeit with more safety measures in place but the vast majority want to be back in on the 8th of March.
I am quite Hmm when posters write stuff like "a lot of us would be okay following NIs route". As seen on that thread and many other threads, parents(esp those who are working FT from home), want their children to be back at school. Teachers mostly want to go back but with more safety measures implemented such as ventilation, mandatory masks in class, staggered returns.. yet most want the reopening of schools to be the 8th and not after Easter. God knows where all these posters are coming from with wanting to follow NI route so fervently...

OrangeBananaFish · 18/02/2021 19:39

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who wants to start to see a way out now. On here (ie the NI thread and others) there seems to be a large variety of posters wanting to keep lockdown for another few weeks. I see it on FB and my DH. Just everywhere, people seem to not want anything to ease until Easter at the very earliest. I think that's why I'm struggling so much TBH. Everyone just wants to stay as they are, whereas I'm really struggling. It's just dragging sooo much. I know I should probably step away from MN, facebook and the news for the next 4 days, but they are pretty much all I do in my spare few mins ATM.

I saw another thread earlier and a lot have commented about everything they have lost due to lockdowns and that is so sad. Makes my hardships about lockdown really insignificant TBH.

On the plus side I went for a really nice walk today and saw snowdrops and the start of daffodils sprouting. I know snowdrops have been mentioned earlier, but I've not had chance to get out much due to work before today.

TheChineseChicken · 18/02/2021 19:44

I have to say, having a chocka day and not being able to go on MN (present company excluded) or news sites makes such a difference! Maybe it’s a bit out of sight out of mind but it works.

You are not alone I assure you.

One post that stuck with me was "NHS staff are exhausted and deserve not to have lockdown 4 so let's lockdown for another couple of months until it is ". My DH is a frontliner in the NHS and would beg to differ. He doesn't want another lockdown and is probably the most law abiding citizen on earth but he cannot wait for this lockdown to end and have a life outside of work/home and maybe even have a gasp holiday!

MarshaBradyo · 18/02/2021 19:46

Orange no you are not alone. Some of the posts are mind boggling although self serving at least. So you can see why.

Others are overly worried but I don’t get that.

Wherediditgo · 18/02/2021 19:47

I don’t get the people on that thread either. I keep seeing phrases like “if we open up too soon, we will be in lockdown by May”

Why?? Why do they think that is the case? We have vaccinations being rolled out at a rate of knots and summer on the way??

MarshaBradyo · 18/02/2021 19:49

Where I know I don’t know where it’s all coming from

OrangeBananaFish · 18/02/2021 19:51

Thank you for the reassurances about not being alone. So my task for as long as I can is to ignore MN (apart from this thread), news and certain FB posts. Unfortunately I can't run away from DH, but if I could avoid the news I won't have to hear him ranting about staying in lockdown for just a little longer (he's not a people person anyway so its easy for him - bastard!!!).

Now to find something else to keep my mind busy.

Wherediditgo · 18/02/2021 19:51

If I was cynical, I would think that some people post under more than one username on the same thread...
Or that’s what I’m telling myself because I can’t quite believe people actually feel this way!

Shehz21 · 18/02/2021 19:53

Stockholm Syndrome from being in lockdown way too long...
Pomegranatespompom · 18/02/2021 19:54

Everyone I know in the nhs wants schools open and we're happy for gradual lifting of restrictions. Lots of talk at work and staff and with patients (!) of being able to go on holiday, looking forward to sitting in a pub garden.

I don't know one person who refused to work in the nhs, and most of the time we just have a surgical mask and an apron when in very close contact for long periods of time.

It's disappointing and yes self serving.

Passes round huge bag of mini egg with a side of chocolate orange rabbits.

Pomegranatespompom · 18/02/2021 19:56

We're in such a great place with vaccinations, there can only be improvements logically....

@Wherediditgo very vocal minority maybe?

alreadytaken · 18/02/2021 20:07

The last 2 days have been tough - nothing to do with covid (although they'll claim that), just some incompetence from my bank. So you lot are letting me down and I've gone in search of a picture . Sadly they arent mine.
