Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

I think this counts as good news:
Covid-19: World's first human trials given green light in UK www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56097088

It will potentially speed up research on transmissibility and treatments. Hooray for the science, but those volunteering are very brave!
@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum Please stop peddling that we want them closed. We just want better safety mitigations than before.
When did I say say that? Paranoid doesn't even touch the sides with some posters.

Plus we all want proper safety measures. Don't be a prat. You miss my point completely.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 11:57

The results of human trials will definitely be worth it.

However it still makes me a bit jelly thinking about it

Monkeytennis97 · 17/02/2021 11:59

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum woah. "Don't be a prat". Nice.

That is why I am so good working with teenagers 😂

@Monkeytennis97 wrong thread

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2021 12:31

I just got called "ridiculous" on another thread. WAAAAHHHH!
Pass Marzipan over.

carolinesbaby · 17/02/2021 12:31

Are you purposefully watching this thread so that you can pounce and report anything that might be considered directed at you, or just trying to start a bunfight?

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 12:40

I'm really optimistic about the schools opening on the 8th.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 12:44

No bun fights at this picnic please. You might knock over the wine.

I'm on here for positivity. Funnily enough as a teacher my MH has taken a bashing over the pandemic. I need positivity. Schools going back gung ho which will cause rates and hospitalisations to rise doesn't fill me with positivity but sensible, staggered reopening does.

I've bee on this thread for a while now. I think I joined about 3/4 threads ago.
FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 12:49

And what a wonderful addition you are Monkeytennis97. Got any good news?

Yes currently seeing my learning disabled DS who I haven't seen for 7 weeks as he lives in a care home. Having a lovely time too. Also he's getting his vaccine next week.
starfish88 · 17/02/2021 12:54

That is great news.

And on a random tangent 'bun fight' made me think of how I would fight anyone for an iced bun right now. One of the ones with the pink icing. Yum!

Agreed, monkey. I saw some really positive research re masks somewhere- hopefully that will help the government to make some sensible (positive) decisions re re opening.

A negative result would be schools opening, closing and doing the bubbles bursting dance.

☺️

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 12:56

That's lovely to hear. Must be a big relief. My DM got her jab yesterday, no big surprise as she is 67, but still, it's all moving forward.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 13:09

90 volunteers are going to take part in a human challenge trial.

Urgh, I'm useless at linking to Twitter. I'll try again.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 13:12

Just seen Boris on TV. He was saying again about when we open up that will be it. No more lockdowns.

Seems a very definite thing to keep saying. I don't get what is behind this statement being said again and again. Obviously joy no more lockdowns but I am surprised they are telling us this.
