Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Wahey jemima go you!

I want an iced bun. But on the good side I've lost 1.5 stone (in two months) and DH has totally utterly and completely reversed his T2 diabetes (despite the GP saying he didn't think it would work and he ought to have the tablets - miserable bugger) and his cholesterol level is now brilliant.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2021 13:22

truely I LOVE that hedgehog. Does it have a name?

Not yet. Why don't you name it for me ❤
carolinesbaby · 17/02/2021 13:33

monkey in that case I apologise for over reacting and being rude.

carolinesbaby · 17/02/2021 13:34

My good news is that despite having a raging temperature and being aches and sore my test result came this morning - negative. Phew.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 13:39

That sound awful reacersloveinterest, hope you get well soon.

Off topic, I love Jack Reacher novels but is it weird that the thing I love about the character the most is that he bins all his clothes and never washes them? I mean, that really appeals to me.

Given that I do a minimum of 10 washes a week I am totally with you on that one! When I first got pregnant someone should have told me that motherhood was just endless laundry.

Thats amazing @FuzzyPuffling!! Well done both of you.
I'm on the weight loss train but been struggling this past week.

Turns out no covid jab for me tomorrow. It was an error because I had a heart murmur as a baby.
So my good news is someone who is actually vulnerable will now get a call to have their jab tomorrow afternoon 🤞

Hope you get well soon @Reachersloveinterest! I've got aches, headache and feel rubbish but none of the main symptoms. I haven't left the house anyway but might book an asymptomatic test just to make sure.

Thank youThanks I know for so many people 'all schools back' is great but for me it brings the fear of being unsafe. I've not even been to a shop since last March and the courage it took for me to get through September to December in school really took it out of me. My MH is on the edge, in part due to the situation of our DS but also as DH and I are both secondary teachers approaching 50 not in the best health. I came on this thread to hear good news about vaccines and research etc etc.
Monkeytennis97 · 17/02/2021 14:12

Anyway... moving on with positivity SmileSmile

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 14:25

It's just different for different people. I haven't been in a shop for over the year either and consider the children being able to go back to be very good news. There's not a party line about it on the thread as I understand?

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 14:33

Vaccines are nudging up again.

315,797 additional vaccine doses registered in England yesterday.

32,070 in Scotland
17,161 in Wales

@SmileEachDay

Schools going back gung ho which will cause rates and hospitalisations to rise doesn't fill me with positivity but sensible, staggered reopening does

Agreed, monkey. I saw some really positive research re masks somewhere- hopefully that will help the government to make some sensible (positive) decisions re re opening.

A negative result would be schools opening, closing and doing the bubbles bursting dance.

☺️

And we have the lurker.

Maybe, maybe not. I just have to accept I'm in the minority as I'm fearful of being in enclosed spaces with 30 maskless adolescents with windows that crack open to 3-4cm if I'm lucky. I understand why school is important (or I wouldn't be a teacher of 25 years) for kids. It's just not the same for me now, with the pandemic. Anyway.... there we go. Trying to be positive Smile

Shehz21

I’m not sure what you mean?

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 14:51

Well, it's a good news thread. People post all sorts of things which they consider may be good news that others might not but we've had ten threads without it descending into a shit fight because it's not a debate thread and we all seem to recognise that the news item is indeed, good news for some, at least.

🥳🥳🥳

Yay that is more like it❤

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 15:01

Now we wait for those daily figures 🤓

Shehz21 · 17/02/2021 15:02

@Monkeytennis97 If it provides any reassurance,my line of job within my local council means that colleagues and I are working hard to advocate for risk assessments to be carried out across schools. We are also liaising directly with teachers to provide advice and guidance as well as gather feedback.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 15:04

The rolling case average is at 12300 ish so I want another 10k-er in the mix.

Monkeytennis97 · 17/02/2021 15:10

@FourTeaFallOut I'm not trying to cause a 'shit fight'. I'll bow out of this thread now.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 15:12

10k rolling average for the 22nd is my hope. Reckon we should be able to manage that 🤞

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 15:14

I didn't mean to infer you did, but that's the shape of every other thread on this board where the focus is on battling one idea against another. This is more a collaboration of sources. You don't have to buy into each piece of good news and you certainly don't need to leave.
