Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Get well soon @louisejxxx!

Love the idea that all categories 1-9 could be done by end of March. That would be great news!

BigWoollyJumpers · 16/02/2021 11:22

I think we can achieve 1m jabs a day. Two streams. 500k new per day, 500k seconds. Always dependent on supply, but seconds will have to take priority over firsts, but with new vaccines coming on-line, I am assuming these will go to the next tranche of first vaccines, seconds having already been stockpiled or planned for.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/02/2021 11:26

I agree BigWoollyJumpers, I don’t doubt it at all. As long as supply holds (and they must think there’s a fighting chance it will to be even thinking about it) they can do it.

twinmum2017 · 16/02/2021 11:26

1m jabs a day would be amazing!

What will happen if the Pfizer supply (I read the other day that there's a production delay) is disrupted and people reach the 12 weeks and need their second? Can they have the Oxford one instead? I know that's being trialled....
Surely we wont waste all those first doses by not giving these people the long term immunity

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/02/2021 11:28

I don’t think there is yet evidence to justify mixing jabs but I am confident they have built it into the planning that they will need them to be available.

I'm going to book a Christmas holiday today. I keep going to do it and thinking what if? But fuck it, if we are still in a lockdown no travel situation at the end of the year then a cancelled holiday will be the least of my worries!

I've booked two holidays to visit family this year @InterfectoremVulpes
I'm determined to be positive!

starfish88 · 16/02/2021 11:45

Where are you planning on going?

InterfectoremVulpes · 16/02/2021 11:47

It will happen. It will happen. It will happen. My family is looking forward to see me this year and I am tentatively looking at July.. The UK is banned atm but I am keeping positive that by July we will be in a position where keeping a ban on the UK will not be justifiable.
FuzzyPuffling · 16/02/2021 11:52

Oh how lovely to hear all you happiness. It's shining through.
Apart from Louisejxxx - I hope you and your DH are both ok.

DH and I are thinking about our delayed "bucket list" of things we want to do....hot air ballooon ride, sing sea shanties, go for a meal out....

InterfectoremVulpes · 16/02/2021 11:52

I will book for summer as soon as we can, there's a hotel in Crete we've been to a few times so we are hoping to get there this year.

And see Pete Tong in June (tickets bought) at a local outdoor venue.

alreadytaken · 16/02/2021 11:55

@louisejxxx If you have already been taking vitamin D supplements but only a small dose now is a good time to double up. There is some limited evidence it helps with covid (more came out this week). Vitamin D levels drop when infected. If you dont have supplements eat as much oily fish, eggs and mushrooms as you can stomach and check if breakfast cereal is fortified with it.

There are other vaccines besides AZ and Pfizer, new people may get one of those.

alreadytaken · 16/02/2021 11:57

This was said on twitter " NHS chief Simon Stevens tells No10 presser: "Overall although supply will vary week to week and we've got to adjust accordingly, we may be giving up to twice as many vaccinations overall." "

BigWoollyJumpers · 16/02/2021 11:59

We are still not sure about booking anything. Recently we have been going to Sardinia, and have become friends with local hotelier and representative for the islands travel industry. They were very positive a couple of week ago, TUI and other had block booked rooms, and in fact we privately reserved our usual rooms in our usual hotel, but now it all seems up in the air again? DH and I will probably be vaccinated, but what happens with our teen DD's`? Also flights at the moment are thousands of pounds, way more than we usually pay. Not sure what to do.

Inastatus · 16/02/2021 12:01

@louisejxxx - get well soon wishes to you and your DH.

My good news is that my cousin and her husband have both had the vaccine. They are early 60’s and live in Shetland.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/02/2021 12:04

I have family I crete @InterfectoremVulpes, I visit quite often. Where about do you visit?

InterfectoremVulpes · 16/02/2021 12:08

Really hope it all stays mild for you and your DH @louisejxxx and you’ll soon be telling us the good news that you feel better and have the antibodies.

HattieMid2 · 16/02/2021 12:35

@louisejxxx hope you feel better soon. My DH tested positive last Monday, and I haven’t caught it despite him not being able to isolate from us (young kids). He had it very mildly so hoping the same for you 🤞

louisejxxx · 16/02/2021 12:40

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, so far we are both alright to be honest. Hopefully it’ll stay that way 😄

LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/02/2021 12:42

My family are dotted around all [email protected] around Ag Nik, but also Hersonissos, Heraklion/Knossos and Analipsis, so not tooo far from Stalis. Its my favourite place.

Crumpetycrump · 16/02/2021 13:40

We are booked to go to Crete in August .... Plaka 🤞

LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/02/2021 13:53

Fingers crossed for you @Crumpetycrump
I'm sure it'll be fine. Have you been before?
