Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Vaccination is already reducing hospital admissions, deaths and virus transmission in the UK, according to the Times. The paper reports "encouraging" early data as showing the positive impact Britain's race for jabs is already having.

Good morning.

Tracey from fb is needed in a fair few places. This is probably needed again the most though.

I don't watch the news anymore, can you give me a vague rundown of what Bozo said at the briefing last night (I didn't realise there was one scheduled or i'd have tuned in hoping for positive vibes)

Mindymomo · 16/02/2021 07:26

Our village has gone white on the interactive map, which is really good considering we are very near to the Woking hotspot and increased testing. Also DH has his vaccine appointment this evening and I’m going along to drive back as I haven’t driven since October.

FourTeaFallOut · 16/02/2021 07:36

Morning. Love the cartoon @Pomegranatespompom Grin

The US has dropping case rates too, down to October levels.

"Daily COVID cases in the US hit lowest levels since October" www.businessinsider.com/covid-cases-us-drop-lowest-since-october-daily-infections-data-2021-2?amp&r=US&IR=T

Pomegranatespompom · 16/02/2021 07:42

Ooh that’s good @FourTeaFallOut maybe will get our USA holiday this year - I only dare day that on this thread.

Pomegranatespompom · 16/02/2021 07:43

FuzzyPuffling · 16/02/2021 07:51

And it's Pancake Day. I might make some for lunch.
Hurrah for optimism, blankets and cute furry animals.

thatgingergirl · 16/02/2021 08:22

Pancakes with lemon and a little sugar - yum!

FourTeaFallOut · 16/02/2021 08:23

I'll have chopped bananas, cream and a smidge of brandy in my pancake please.

thatgingergirl · 16/02/2021 08:27

Oh, oh, oh "My Old Dutch" has just popped in my head! Anyone know that restaurant chain? Huge pancakes with just about any filling or topping you can think of! Add it to my list of things I must do come better times. Smile

Autumn101 · 16/02/2021 08:28

DC and I are having pancakes for every meal today!! I decided to try and say yes to everything they ask for this week (within reason obviously!!) and little things like this have made them giddy with excitement - they’ve even written a menu

LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/02/2021 08:29

Not exactly pancakes but one of the things I miss about Greece is a creperie....I loved a crepe with chocolate spread and crushed biscuit folded and eaten whilst perusing shops in the evening. Heaven.

thatgingergirl · 16/02/2021 08:31

That's lovely Autumn101.

Oh Lord you are making me giddy with optimism as if USA is on then I'm sure I'll be able to travel to Mauritius Grin

Happy pancake day everyone.

I had massive eye rolls at my elderly CEV Uncle yesterday (good job it was a phone call) as he was moaning he wanted the Oxford vaccine and for Astra Zeneca.

I don’t think he even understood when I likened it to a Arla making Lurpak, but Asda being the ones that put it on the shelves and enabling him to buy it. Hmm

thatgingergirl · 16/02/2021 09:13

Marmite27 Smile Just refer to it as 'oaz'!

My mum thought Astra Zeneca sounded like something from Dr Who, but that Pfizer doesn't sound a nice word either!! She mulls about lots of inconsequential things, my mum. And I am so close behind her!

As long as they put their arms out (in more ways than one!), all is good!

Motorina · 16/02/2021 10:19

Even better news than pancakes. BBC reporting that 80+ are showing higher levels of antibodies than the rest of the population, due to vaccines.

Crumpetycrump · 16/02/2021 10:34

The government are hoping to vaccinate all of the remaining priority groups by March 24th! The May date is just so that they don’t over promise and under deliver.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/02/2021 10:41

Every week earlier is a week less damage to the economy...

starfish88 · 16/02/2021 10:44

I wondered how they could say May for priority groups but end of summer for everyone twice! That makes a lot more sense. And fingers crossed! In my immediate family and closest friends I only have my mum left to go. I realise I know a lot of old people and HCPs!

BigWoollyJumpers · 16/02/2021 10:54

Just sent DH out for eggs - lots and lots of eggs Grin.

louisejxxx · 16/02/2021 11:07

Hoping for lots of good news today - dh tested positive yesterday and I am currently awaiting my own test results. Only symptom so far being a bit hot and very achy.

Good idea! There's a film coming out about that I think, with Jennifer Garner? Yes Day or something.
AudacityOfHope · 16/02/2021 11:14

That's not so good @louisejxxx hopefully some paracetamol and couch days will be all it takes xx
