A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

I can't email my GP either. Well, I tried as I found an email address online, but I got an auto response saying the inbox is not monitored and to phone instead.

Frazzled2207 · 11/05/2021 14:25

Neither can I email. You have to be persistent at calling to get through too and often just get cut off. Some GPs are living in the dark ages.

I got a response from the email despite being told it was unmonitored!

Good Afternoon
I have passed your email onto our assistant practice manager who will arrange this to be put on your records.
Kind Regards
Reception Manager

I attached a photo of my A4 certificate

Ok some good news from a bod on the facebook group - according to a clued up GP apparently there will be a 'fix' on the app for those who have been unblinded pretty soon so that the vaccine shows up. Some people have it showing already. As for blinded people there apparently is a fix in progress so that it will show (a bit more complicated when no concrete dates). And those that have had it show up confirm that it basically does not show what you've had, just that you've had two doses of covid vaccine.

There's a chance still that the unapproved thing could be a non-issue. Keeping everything crossed.

Thanks Frazzle

Frazzled2207 · 11/05/2021 16:03

Also now just had an email from the guys at the hospital saying we are seeking more info (regarding the delayed approval) and will get back to you as soon as we know more

Ooh good. Report back!

Torvean · 11/05/2021 16:37

I messaged my Gp service as we use e- consult. I asked if they'd been informed that I was fully vaccinated. They said no.
So I emailed the study centre they replied with

There currently is not a system in place for Scotland for a centralised system as proof of vaccination, so we will know more in due course. It may not be through GP practices as not everyone has been vaccinated via GP, such as healthcare workers and people in trials.

Torvean · 11/05/2021 16:39

It's a joke as except for the elderly people ppl are getting it done in exhibition centres here.

I did download the my Gp app. Having it scan your face is a new thing.

^ Novavax CEO talking about delay in approval.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 11/05/2021 19:40

I hope it's ok to share this from a different site as I'm keeping them anonymous. It was posted half an hour ago. Looks hopeful.

"I have asked about travel today and received this email from the Principal Investigator running my trial.

The coding of 2 novavax doses works for the NHS app. We’re just testing it this morning on our patients. I’ve been drafted in with the national vaccine taskforce group this morning as the GP link to make sure everyone on the trial is ok to travel in this interim period until full approvals come through."

Torvean · 11/05/2021 19:42

So they're unblinding all the Americans and no mention of EUA in the UK? We've done this for free and he fails to mention us.
Sounds like their sdmin staff are slightly incompetent.
Vials just sitting there is crazy.

this sounds very hopeful. They do need to sort something. It runs further than our trial -there are also thousands tied up in the mix and match trial (which includes novavax) and the NIHR is still actively trying to recruit to the Valneva trial which will be a long way behind us. I will cut them a bit of slack if it takes a little while. Hope we get some kind of formal update soon.

From the independent on certification....

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) says the certification will be in line with the interim guidance on digital vaccine certification from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The WHO requirements are highly specific, requiring for each jab:
The brand of vaccine and the name of the manufacturer.
The vaccine batch number **
The name of the vaccination facility **
The name of the health worker who administered the jab **
On paper certificates, the handwritten signature from “the health worker who provided the vaccination or the supervising clinician” **

The ones with ** next to them denote information that I don't think we have or our GP has from the trial.

Sadsiblingatsea · 11/05/2021 20:48

Do you think it is safe and how will it effect fertility?

MrsHamlet · 11/05/2021 20:59

I'm not concerned about fertility. I wouldn't have been in a trial if I didn't think it safe.

Torvean · 11/05/2021 21:24

I also don't think ot will affect fertility or they would have done initial testing on an older age group.

Fair point but these sounds like surmountable issues. The last one is presumably not needed because we're asking the app to be valid not the paper certificate.

I was just watching the jabbed programme from Ch4 that was on yesterday.

In it Kate Bingham goes to the Novavax trial. After the vaccine she says " I know now that I've had at least 1 vial of the Novavax vaccine"?

That's not what I thought after injection number 1

Frazzled2207 · 11/05/2021 22:29

@Torvean
Me neither!

Maybe if you’re kate Bingham you can make special arrangements to have the real stuff

Was thinking that myself.

Ragdoll4 · 12/05/2021 01:01

Hi
another Novavax blinded crossover participant. Last week Novavax registered 3 CPT codes with the AMA in readiness for approval. 1 for the vaccine itself and two for administration of the vaccine. Think these codes could be the key to adding us to the NHS app. Think only confirmation of Covid vaccine without dates administered is shown on the app. Google Novavax CPT Code.

Frazzled2207 · 12/05/2021 09:15

Hi @Ragdoll4

had a google and it suggests those codes no good until approved (which is why we are worried) and i'm not sure if UK codes might be different to US ones? Might be wrong about that.

We've had another email from our study lead today (two in two days!) not saying much other than the 'Chief Investigator' (I think that's for the whole of the UK trial) is "looking at alternative approaches to try and address this and I will feedback to you each day on his progress". So they are aware of a potentially serious issue and are doing what they can to address it. Other stuff I'm read on facebook suggests that there is already a provisional plan so atm I am confident it will work itself out. I really don't want to go and have to seek another vaccine, and fairly sure they really won't want us doing that either (even though many of our american colleagues seem to be doing so)
