A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

Guys, seen this on Twitter this morning - in a thread about proving vaccine status for travel post 17 May:
The Covid vaccine programme Tech & Data Team are working to get vaccines received as part of a trial uploaded into the patients’ records, once unblinded.
I’ve tweeted back to ask where does this leave those of us who won’t be unblinded until the end of the trial.

Frazzled2207 · 09/05/2021 10:30

@JosephineDeBeauharnais
That’s interesting. Suggests that as a worst case scenario we could be unblinded if they can’t give us the assurance we need.

We're any of you asked to extend your 12 month contract? Mine runs out on Oct 12 but been given appt for 4 weeks later. I'm planning to move sometime between sep -oct. It happens to be a town that did the study. But I don't want to extend 12months. I've already done more with crossover. Plus my own health needs have been ignored since February last year and they need dealt with.
I know it's a month but I want done according to my contract.

andadietcoke · 10/05/2021 06:29

@torvean when was your second jab? It's supposed to be 12m from your second jab - I've been told mine will be November too. In terms of a 'contract' you're free to leave the trial at any time. I think the only consequence of you finishing in October would be that you're effecting leaving the trial early and unblinding but for the sake of three weeks it doesn't seem worth it?

MrsHamlet · 10/05/2021 06:49

My next appointment is a year from my second "first dose" if that makes sense.

Torvean · 10/05/2021 09:48

I'd have to look back to see if I can find my 2nd vacc. I was told my last appt would be close to my original date. So maybe they made a mistake.

I want to see it out. I told them I'd be moving sep/Oct. And they said I could swap study sites.
I'm talking of moving of Scotland and it's too far for a day trip back.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 10/05/2021 13:56

I’d need to check but I seem to have a memory that the trial was 56 weeks. I don’t know why I think that.

Frazzled2207 · 10/05/2021 14:21

Not good news from the US- approval (in the US at least) likely to be delayed likely to manufacturing issues. I’m not sure this will necessarily affect UK approval but fingers crossed for more clarity soon. Hopefully our trial will realise we can’t be left in limbo indefinitely.

this is the article causing the fuss. Novavax itself is due to update later today.

Not good news for the sharewatchers, at least short term. But I'm not in it for a quick return (thank goodness)

I’m expecting to hold until at least next year, I’m confident they will work this out, it seems to be operational rather than scientific difficulties and since the whole world is waiting for vaccine options there’ll be a collective will to sort it. I’m staying optimistic.
Frazzled2207 · 10/05/2021 15:36

so am I in the long run. Just seen a press release about a joint covid/flu vaccine they are developing.
Unfortunatley having never brought a product to market manufacturing (teething?) difficulties are going to be unavoidable.

in the depths of twitter I have found this graph which is an interesting visual of side effects from novavax. All sounds good but I wonder how they actually know given that this time round there is no monitoring of them at all as far as I am aware. I am fairly sure I was supposed to log stuff for my first two shots but I never did as there was nothing to log.

Fingers crossed for an earlier approval in the UK!

I'm not sure I've got anything informative to add. I'm now the proud holder of an A4 sheet of card with my four dates on it.

I was told they shall soon be writing to my GP to inform them so they can update my file, but if I want it doing sooner, I can take my A4 card and they can scan it for my records.

The doctor said there's a website where they're (Novavax) allowed to add our data to the database along with the others, AZ, Pfizer etc. so the govt will get our info with all the rest when they're working on vaccine passports.

They'll email me with my next date. The consent form says "you will be in the study for approximately 1 year after your second study vaccination in the first vaccination period" ie the anniversary of your second of the four shots. It hasn't been extended.

The doctor also said that the data is looking really good. Their figures are better than Pfizer and they're really good for the variants too.

As for NVAX, I daren't look! Isn't it silly that it's so reactive to what's said, what's not said etc. Hopefully the delays in manufacturing are sorted out and we get approval soon. They've never done this before. No wonder there are hiccups. They've got a great little vaccine here, the best in my opinion, and I'm confident that will secure their success.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 10/05/2021 16:43

^^ Some good news about NanoFlu, their flu/covid combi vaccine.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 10/05/2021 16:58

Thanks @PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears, I had heard they had a flu jab too.

Torvean · 10/05/2021 18:40

How did that woman find out that they used her data? Our study was also on made to complete survey Qs after the first 2 questions.

Torvean · 10/05/2021 18:44

With regard to manufacturing. I thought they have somewhere in UK, USA ,somewhere in Scandinavia and they'd got somewhere new in Eastern Europe.
Last I saw in the news was the UK factory was on track to make 60 mlion doses.

andadietcoke · 10/05/2021 22:11

According to the fb page per the earnings call they're aiming for Q3 authorisation in UK and US. So that's me not going on the cruise then.
