A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

Welcome @Easeljeasel
I think all of the vaccines are good but staying in the trial is the only way of knowing what you’re getting and the info on novavax is very promising. There wouldn’t have been the announcement in the media today that it was going to be bottled up in barnard castle unless it was a. Good stuff and b. Almost certain to be approved. For me the three weeks is another big plus. The 6th is only next week so I’d stay in if I were you.

@Easeljeasel I would stay in. By the end of April you will have had both vaccines. The NHS you will have them both by June. Novavax is looking really promising, the early data was great and it is expected to be licensed very soon.

Easeljeasel · 30/03/2021 09:35

Thanks for the welcome Frazzled! And thank you both for confirming my instinct! Stick with the trial it is!

MrsHamlet · 30/03/2021 11:16

First crossover jab in Chorley booked. Phew.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/03/2021 12:45

Yay! You found us!

I was offered the NHS vaccine on Feb 27th but declined. I wanted to honour my commitment to the trial. I'm not being exposed in a public facing job or anything like that, so happy to wait a few extra weeks. I want the Novavax vaccine.

Got my crossover appts booked for April 19th and May 10th.

Frazzled2207 · 30/03/2021 16:58

sounds promising

How odd: booked for my third novavax today and I've just been invited for the NHS one!!!

andadietcoke · 30/03/2021 17:18

I've just read through the email they've sent about the protocols for the crossover trial and am now inexplicably anxious about not being eligible for it because my BP is high on the day or something. I am a ridiculous human being.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/03/2021 17:32

I get terrible white coat syndrome. I explained this last time and they left the cuff on and did it again 10 mins later by which time it was ok. My first one was something like 160/100 and my second was 115/75! It always happens 🤦🏼‍♀️

Frazzled2207 · 30/03/2021 17:34

I was thinking similar. I read it quickly and it didn't make an awful lot of sense tbh. I'd best not be pregnant either !!!!!

andadietcoke · 30/03/2021 17:37

Mine's high anyway - I had pregnancy related hypertension and it never went down. I'm on meds but the last few times I've had it checked it's been high even by my standards.

100% not pregnant so at least that's one test I'll pass!

andadietcoke · 30/03/2021 17:38

@Frazzled2207 yep didn't make sense to me either, especially the last section about study dates.

MrsHamlet · 30/03/2021 17:52

I read that and decided not to think about it 🤣

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 30/03/2021 17:55

I've not had sex in seven years since I got divorced but they'll insist on doing a pregnancy test. I'll still be slightly anxious waiting for the result 😂

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 30/03/2021 18:01

Bradford are lovely but very laid back! They’re not starting until 12 April and I’ve been booked for 14th but they haven’t booked my second one - I’m assuming they’ll do that on the day. I’ve got an antibody test booked for 30th so I’m assuming that will go ahead too.

Vargas · 30/03/2021 18:07

I haven't got my second one booked either. London.

Frazzled2207 · 30/03/2021 18:54

I got the impression from ours that they want you back in exactly 21 days later for the second dose.
20 or 22 not allowed.

OP posts:
MrsHamlet · 30/03/2021 19:07

That's why I wanted the second appointment at the same time... my HT is being very arsy about everything at the moment :(

Monkeygirl68 · 30/03/2021 19:10

@MrsHamlet have you got a vaccine policy? Our LA is just about to put one in place from 1st April. I commented that there wasn’t anything about allowing a person to attend vaccine trials, so now they have amended the draft issue to include this.

MrsHamlet · 30/03/2021 19:26

I doubt it but I'll ask!

Daftapath · 30/03/2021 22:37

I also get white coast syndrome when it comes to my bp. First time around, they had to keep repeating the reading until it fell enough to be within the limits. Second time around, they happily took my home readings as proof that the levels are usually lower.

I have my first appointment tomorrow and the next one 22 days later. They seemed to happy to have a few days leeway

andadietcoke · 30/03/2021 23:24

I'd best find some batteries for my BP monitor and see what it's like then! And make sure I take my meds before I go!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 31/03/2021 00:08

That's good to know. I've got my machine out ready but I wasn't sure they'd accept home readings.

QueenOfThorns · 31/03/2021 06:38

My first one is the 14th *@JosephineDeBeauharnais* (although not Bradford) and the second is May 5th. Maybe you could just assume yours will be the same?
Torvean · 31/03/2021 06:51

I didn't think to ask anything when the called. They just asked if I wanted to continue and I agreed. Our dates are dead on 21 days I have mine on the 7th and 28th even at the same time.

I thought I got the vaccine first time . I had really bad muscle ache. It hurt to walk. Not agonising more of a constant ache like you'd done a really intense gym class the day before.

I'll be mortified if it's the other way round as we had to do the diary entries.
