A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

@SpeckleDust
Same here! Great if you could let me know how long they keep you for, 2.5 hours sounds quite dire I hope that’s a worst case scenario!

@QueenOfThorns

Still no labels or appointment from Stockport here Sad

I’ll give it another couple of days and then get in touch if I’ve still not heard anything. I don’t want to hassle them, but I’m keen to know when I’m getting that jab!

Check your junk email - I nearly missed seeing my appointment email as it had gone to junk. Otherwise give them a quick call or email to check. The appointments are definitely being made and sent out now.
SpeckleDust · 22/03/2021 17:04

Will do @Frazzled2207 - I was hoping it wouldn’t take that long as we’ve already been through all the medical reviews and checks before.

andadietcoke · 22/03/2021 19:00

I have visions of my first two appts there. They were awful! But I guess it'll be the same - bp, weight, height, check for lumps and bumps...

QueenOfThorns · 22/03/2021 20:56

@SpeckleDust thanks, I’ve been checking my junk email religiously (every half hour or so Grin) as I found the last email from them had gone in there, quite by chance!

Not sure why they have to do that all again tbh

Regarding the length of the appointment, the nurse told me on one visit that they have to have the jabs out of the fridge for something like half an hour before administering them. And they don’t get them out until you’ve been checked over, so that accounts for some of the time. Plus then they have to watch you for a bit to make sure you don’t keel over!

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears

Leeds are booking crossover appointments now starting April 19th. Smile
Leeds have been a disgrace. Starting late because they were not prepared and don't take us with care. When speaking to lady on the phone she was spouting rubbish and making things up as she felt like. Haven't received an appointment despite being told i'd be one of the first ones. Very disappointed.
Vargas · 22/03/2021 22:47

Email today confirming crossover starting 7th April and explaining process. We will receive an appointment booking email soon. London.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 22/03/2021 23:21

I emailed Leeds this morning and they emailed back with an appointment. Try them in the morning.

ItsSnowJokes · 23/03/2021 13:32

Booked in for the crossover next week at Bournemouth. Going on Tuesday and they said it will take about 1.5 hours. So pleased I have managed to stay in the trial, I have had 6 texts now from my GP regarding booking the vaccine.

QueenOfThorns · 23/03/2021 15:31

I’m sure it’s a total coincidence after my email to them yesterday, but I’m now booked in for the 14th. So just 3 weeks to wait (6 until I can go and get my hair cut Smile)

ItsSnowJokes · 23/03/2021 16:00

Husband has just been called regarding the crossover as well. So we have the same appointment time. A little family outing next Tuesday.

Daftapath · 23/03/2021 16:06

I received a text today telling me that I will be contacted sometime over the next couple of days to give me the dates for my crossover appointments.

All the friends my age are getting their vaccines now so it's good news!

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 23/03/2021 16:42

I have just had a text message from the NHS inviting me to book. It's not at all obvious how to go about contacting the trial (London) to get an update on timings or for unblinding purposes. The letter they sent a while back didn't give any contact details. It's all a little frustrating in terms of the lack of good communications - I think they are doing an amazing job in terms of the science but there is a job to be done in brushing up on how they keep the trial participants engaged.

JPLeeds · 23/03/2021 16:48

I've been working today at a mobile vaccination centre and they had a few doses left over but I was unable to accept one as the trial team said it would be 24 hours to unblind via e-mail. They still agreed to still unblind me as I'm working Thursday and Friday and again with possibilities of spares.

Daftapath · 23/03/2021 17:09

@WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold which London site are you at? I used the number on my card (that I was given at first appointment last year) initially. Then had a call to let me know a different number. Happy to pass this on if we are the same place

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 23/03/2021 17:19

Kings. I've tried calling the number on the card but it takes me through to the switchboard and the automated system doesn't recognise "rheumatology doctors on call" which is who I'm meant to ask for if I have Covid symptoms. Just as well I don't, really! I think I have an email address somewhere so will have a proper look later.

Frazzled2207 · 23/03/2021 17:23

@WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold
that is rubbish
we have a contact number but don't think I've ever tried it. But they send me emails quite often and if I respond to that address they are pretty efficient at Stockport . I had an email back from them about changing my time at 11pm on Saturday night (I'd emailed a few hours earlier but wasn't expecting a reply that day!)

OP posts:
pattyleeds · 23/03/2021 18:34

It appears Leeds are giving out appointment haphazardly and on whoever rings or emails first. Doesn't surprise me at all, been pushed all over the place when I ring them being told different things by different people and some can't even answer basic questions.
In a dilemma, would rather be unblinded and withdraw than be messed about further.

JPLeeds · 23/03/2021 18:37

They recently advertised 5 vacancies for Novavax / Maternity Trials so I reckon they are down on staff.

Frazzled2207 · 23/03/2021 19:12

Re Leeds that is a real shame.
Stockport aren’t super quick at anything but do seem to be handling things professionally, especially on the day when they deal with quite a lot of people at the same time.
The team do do a lot of trials though so are clearly well experienced

OP posts:
Stillmuddlingthrough · 23/03/2021 19:22

So has anyone in the Leeds trial been given appointment dates? I have only been given ‘looking to give appointments from 19th April’ even though I said I was going to have to unblind if it wasn’t soon.

werekitty · 23/03/2021 20:20

Haven't heard anything from the Chorley site about appointments, I got excited about an email only to find it said more labels were on the way to me.

Daftapath · 23/03/2021 20:42

@WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold oh, different from me then unfortunately. Hope that you manage to get hold of someone.

C and W trial seems pretty well organised, considering all the changes they have had to deal with recently. Must have been a nightmare. Hopefully the good results has made it worth it for all the staff.
