A continuation of the thread for those of us taking part in the Vaccine trial.
Never had a thread continue to part 2 before so quite excited.

@JosephineDeBeauharnais
But surely if we need to know when we were vaccinated, they can tell us (by unblinding if nothing else). I think we have a right to be unblinded at any time. Def something to try and nail down though.

I met a lady yesterday who had chosen to unblind, she had been given the vaccine and is staying on the trial.

BG2015 · 16/03/2021 21:13

I was unblinded 3 weeks ago and had been given the vaccine. I'm a teacher, 52 and was returning to school. It was the right decision for me after being called for the NHS vaccine.

I'm still continuing with the trial and will attend blood tests and anything else they want.

Last week I had an official letter stating what vaccine I'd had and the 2 dates. A copy has gone to my GP. Hopefully this can be transferred to any Travel passport form

andadietcoke · 16/03/2021 21:34

I misunderstood, I thought @Frazzled2207 was talking about the crossover trial and people being unblinded being eligible for that, not the continuing and doing antibody tests.

Frazzled2207 · 16/03/2021 22:25

Ah no- that would be weird

@Frazzled2207 Regarding vaccine dates, I can't imagine they will force us to unblind ourselves just in order to reveal when we were vaccinated for the purposes of vaccine passports, but at least this option is available if the vaccine passports become an issue for anyone that needs to travel etc... this might be me as I have an elderly mother living abroad and I will visit her as soon as I am able to. Hopefully the various vaccine trials will have sorted out their protocols for vaccine passports by then!

I emailed the London team today as I am now eligible for a vaccine according to my local council, and I wanted to get an idea of how long I would be expected to wait if I want to stay in the trial. The trial team replied quickly and said that the crossover will be done 7th -20th April for first jabs and 3 weeks later for second. They are just waiting to 'finalise' where and when the clinics will be and then will offer appointments. I think I will stick with the trial as I WFH and my DH is getting NHS jab in a few days.

Frazzled2207 · 17/03/2021 12:19

Indeed I am sure there will be a plan even if there isn’t one yet.
Sounds good generally though annoying that for most centres dates are still not set in stone.

I received some new swab labels for the self tests today, in the post. Has anybody else had these? Apparently it is so that they keep the same lab to analyse the swabs and so have consistent data. Hopefully I’ll get a crossover appointment soon.

andadietcoke · 17/03/2021 15:26

I have appointment dates @Frazzled2207!

Frazzled2207 · 17/03/2021 15:33

Oooh @andadietcoke I shall keep my phone close to hand!

@Monkeygirl68
yes we had these as well. I also think it's something to do with making sure any tests that we take have the genomic sequencing done so that they know which variant we have

Monkeygirl68 · 17/03/2021 15:41

@andadietcoke are your dates in April......I’m getting a little twitchy as have not received any indication it’s going ahead in my area yet...

andadietcoke · 17/03/2021 15:51

@Monkeygirl68 the 1st and 22nd April.

Torvean · 17/03/2021 16:28

I got my crissover dates today. The 7th of April and 28th.

With regards to who asked about the labels. You need to replace your old ones to make sure your swabs go the same lab.

QueenOfThorns · 17/03/2021 21:32

So the crossover trial is starting to look like a good bet for those of us under 50 after today’s news about a reduction in the supply of the approved vaccines. I think they’ll need to save the supply for the second doses, which will need to start soon.

@Frazzled2207 have you actually received your new labels? I saw the email about them from Stockport, but nothing’s arrived yet.

andadietcoke · 17/03/2021 21:35

I haven't had new labels from Stockport yet either.

Frazzled2207 · 17/03/2021 22:19

@andadietcoke
@QueenOfThorns

Yes i have my new labels from Stockport.
Only about 3 days ago though.

Spoke to someone from the trial team at C&W today. I was told that the vaccines for the crossover are due to arrive on 29th March and they will offer 1st appointments to anyone on the priority list for the first week of April and will be in touch with these dates next week.
I am now on their priority list as I have been offered the nhs vaccine so will stay in the trial. Hurrah!

They will give us cards with the dates of all four injections and batch numbers for us to use for any passports and will send the same info to our gps.

The vaccine has also passed the next step in the approval process and they expect to have final approval for general use very soon.

Frazzled2207 · 18/03/2021 08:27

@Daftapath
Sounds positive! Especially in light of the fact that being in my 40s and given the vaccine shortage news I won’t be getting an nhs invite soon after all

Has production of Novavax already begun in anticipation of approval does anyone know? The other brands did that and Novavax is being manufactured here which would help secure consistency of supply.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 18/03/2021 09:01

I think production in Teesside was due to begin in February.

andadietcoke · 18/03/2021 09:18

First day of 3 (took it at bedtime last night) and feel really nauseous for the first time since day 1. May well be post period nausea though - I get that sometimes too!

andadietcoke · 18/03/2021 09:22

Sorry!!!! Wrong thread.

Frazzled2207 · 18/03/2021 09:30

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears

I think production in Teesside was due to begin in February.
I think so too but I wish we'd hear more about stuff like this. I'd hope it will be approved int he next few weeks and if there's millions of doses 'ready to go' that would obviously be fantastic. That said, even if they were, it doesn't necessarily follow that all doses made in the UK will be for the UK. The political squabbling over the doses I find really concerning and I think will carry on for a very long time.

Aaagh....phoned my centre this morning at Cardiff, and they haven’t been given any dates yet for the crossover trial. This is worrying me, so I’ve asked to chat with the doctor this afternoon where I’ll decide whether to be unblinded or not. As much as I want to stay on the trial, I’m being bombarded with texts from my GP and the NHS telling me to book for my approved vaccine! Any advice? (I’m in group 6 priority)

Vargas · 18/03/2021 12:13

Got my invitation from NHS today but I'm going to stick with Novavax. If they mess me around and don't offer me the first jab when their email says then I will jump ship, but I'm hoping that won't be the case...
