WHO report: covid likely not from Wuhan

PicsInRed · 09/02/2021 16:40

Covid not from Wuhan, not there before December 2019 and may even have been imported into Wuhan/China in frozen food.

Definitely, 100% not from a lab but may have mutated bit by bit and crossed different animals and borders whilst doing so in order to reach the current covid we know and love.

So there ya go. Hmm

It should be one of their priorities to win back public trust.

Unfortunately they don’t have a shred of credibility left. Trump was correct.

juliastone · 09/02/2021 22:38

But how would they know either way? Are we supposed to believe they can trace the virus back to its origins? The same guys who thought masks could not be useful for a respiratory infection? It's not a hollywood movie, they can't possibly prove where the virus started. So the only logical conclusion is that the WHO traveled to China to make a statement that the virus didn't originate in Wuhan. And we are supposed to buy it because they are actually in China now like physically there so they must know for sure, right...Hmm wtf?

mathanxiety · 09/02/2021 22:38

@Beaniecats, all viruses mutate and adapt.

What specific signs of intelligence are you suspicious of?

LetItGoGo · 09/02/2021 22:38

Well at this point it's all theatre imo.

Bet you never thought you would say that last bit😱

Lol. Yes, almost a year and a half later!

Maybe they were hoping there would still be a pangolin or two still knocking round the market?

blueteddy11 · 09/02/2021 22:45

Defo defo man made !!!!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 09/02/2021 22:46

@Blessex

Next thing you know Ursula VDL will be saying it originated in the U.K.
Then Sturgeon will back her up saying it was all Englands fault
LetItGoGo · 09/02/2021 22:47

Oh I think that's coming.

7Days · 09/02/2021 22:49

Maybe anger, lljkk but anger driven by disillusionment because of being let down by the institutions of society.
"They" are at odds to what normal people want. After a while people switch off and no longer believe what they are hearing.

It comes home to roost now at moments of emergency.

whereisthejoy · 09/02/2021 22:52

Not RTFT but of the posts I've seen do PPs really believe covid is a conspiracy?!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 09/02/2021 22:52

@LetItGoGo

it arrived in chin on frozen goods?

Will this be what is in future history books?

Yep. It turned out China was innocent all along.

We should be blaming Iceland

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

LetItGoGo · 09/02/2021 22:54

Quick, unplug all your freezers!

DNHandTNS · 09/02/2021 22:57

Sounds like Chinese propaganda to me. Or people kowtowing to China SIGH
However it got to Wuhan, it spread quite quickly around the world. People on cruise ships in Asia were dying of a mystery illness in December 2019 and it was hushed up. They then came back to Britain. It was all around the world by December 2019. People on cruises were given large amounts of compensation to cover up their bad experiences.

By the time our government seemed aware of a pandemic in China they did not close our borders or secure PPE. There is negligence and there are cover ups. I would not be surprised if this WHO one is another cover up.

Dongdingdong · 09/02/2021 23:02

I think that is the nub of it.

Not necessarily. Unlike the majority of Mumsnetters, I prefer not to see things in black and white. There’s no doubt that Trump got a hell of a lot wrong, but he was correct about some things too and wasn’t afraid to challenge the status quo - the WHO being one such example.

These “findings” from the WHO aren’t worth the paper they are written on IMO.

Kokeshi123 · 09/02/2021 23:11

We'll never know how this damned virus made its way into the world. Whatever the real story is, I'm guessing it isn't flattering to China since they spent such a long time "preparing" (= destroying evidence) before letting the WHO in to have a look.

The Beijing Winter Olympics is a year from now.

I am in Tokyo. The CCP has ruined our Olympics with their **ing virus, and now they are getting ready to swank around and turn their Olympics into a joyful post-pandemic celebration.

I will be disgusted at any athlete, corporate sponsor or ANYONE who gets involved in Beijing's big propaganda party in any way. The CCP is an absolute shocker anyway, and this just puts the tin hat on it all.

Kokeshi123 · 09/02/2021 23:14

Trump is an orange faced lunatic. But like the stopped clock that tells the time correctly twice a day, he was correct about the WHO (and in terms of his general "instincts" about China).

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 09/02/2021 23:15

In between a whole heap of shite, Trump occasionally was bang on. And was about the WHO

CandyLeBonBon · 09/02/2021 23:35

Also this virus is intelligent its behaving in a way to suggest some man made intervention or modification

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That has to be the single most batshit thing I have read on MN.

really??? Ffs 🙄

Agreed.

Not getting the jump from..lab leak...to man made? Those things are not the same thing, at all. I think the 'man made bioweapon' stuff is a little silly and without merit really. That does not mean I totally discount the lab thing though..

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 10/02/2021 00:07

Not wishing to move this thread off tangent but allegedly the Orange Trumpanzee although sponsored and controlled mostly by Russia (hence he rather be Putin's puppet and go against US Intelligence) also has much funding from China too. Business is business as that is how organisations and organised corruption works! Trump did go soft on Russia but hard on China! Trump may have called out China and WHO on Covid but it takes one criminal mind to think accordingly. However trumpanzee is evidently above the law as like Teflon nothing sticks when money (even borrowed Russian and Chinese money) talks. Even Trump inciting civil war and domestic terrorism let alone countless sexual offences makes no difference to those that control millions of voters. Trumps views and national world leading Covid fatalities record on the “flu” sums up his understanding of the pandemic as he tried his best to dismiss it even being anti mask etc.

Agreed. And I think even the sceptical can admit that if it WAS a lab leak, any investigation now, 13/14/15 months after the fact, would be highly unlikely to find anything revealing in this regard.
Maze76 · 10/02/2021 00:31

How the hell did the virus survive in frozen food??.. I do not believe a word of it. The virus escaped from a lab.

LangClegsInSpace · 10/02/2021 00:42

Since we're writing fiction, if you designed a virus, what would it do?

It would get into people's brains and make them extremely intolerant of minor annoyances caused by other people's behaviour, like local parking infractions or owning a loo brush. It would make people extremely aggressive and impulsive so that instead of just silently fumming they would go straight round to their neighbours' house and Have It Out. Vicious fights would ensue and infected people would end up biting their neighbours and that's how it would spread oh no that's zombies isn't it ...
