NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Currently having a debate on the data thread about naively comparing results from different clinical trials. I would have hoped that on a DATA thread there would be better knowledge of this.

I feel like it's impossible to comment anywhere at the moment - no one listens even when you actually know what the hell you're talking about.

Pomegranatespompom · 15/02/2021 08:25

@OrangeBananaFish so excited to have a warmer week - we get lost about once a week.
I haven’t looked on the data thread- is it generally positive or best avoided?

This is my go-to morning thread.
Thank you for all the positivity.
I was calculating this morning, and I reckon that by the time the schools go back, my DF should have had is second jab, so that is seeming close now.

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2021 08:36

@Pomegranatespompom I would steer clear if I were you. I think it has lost its way. Maybe I should take my own advice.

Pomegranatespompom · 15/02/2021 08:41

*post bit lost !!

I I’ll stick here thank you @TheChineseChicken

PuzzledObserver · 15/02/2021 09:31

Here’s some positivity for some of you with asthma who use a steroid inhaler long-term: recent clinical trial showed that Budesonide reduced the risk of progression to severe disease by 90%. You may already be on it.

In other news - I’m getting my first jab tomorrow (Warwickshire, group 6)

MarshaBradyo · 15/02/2021 09:34

It could be better discussions if it wasn’t such hounding rudeness. I’m glad we agree.

Half term vibes here. I’m hoping for better weather by the end of the week and fingers crossed for an ok road map out of this.

1990s · 15/02/2021 09:34

Almost at the end of the thread! Who’s in charge for the new one...? Smile

SeldomFollowedIt · 15/02/2021 09:34

@PuzzledObserver

Stoneleigh?

alreadytaken · 15/02/2021 10:30

I don't post on the data thread because of the lack of support when a person was troll like derailing the thread. However for anyone concerned about the direction of travel I'd remind you that a substantial number of children have had covid once. Take a look at the ONS figures for different age groups, half of those in some age groups have been infected.

And if you need more cheering up lithuania is vaccinating its athletes, to make a change from cute animals external-preview.redd.it/k8zH5rh1fR2OxBG_FUiGBQgFlA8hNMirKTbfSQk8v3c.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=3b6ebc3db814bda9315b397dace5836050f126d2

Grin that photo

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/02/2021 10:37

Bloody hell AlreadyTaken, we’ve clearly got our vaccination policy completely wrong.

The Data Thread used to be a wonderful thing and sadly it is no longer. There was a time when it was as near to objective as you’re ever going to get on Mumsnet.

alreadytaken · 15/02/2021 10:55

He's not really my type - just thought he's be a change Grin.

Probably should have spelt out that, not for the first time, I think the data thread are getting it wrong - this time on herd immunity being feasible without vaccinating children. Many children have had this already.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/02/2021 11:03

Don't worry I think most people have realised it ain't what it used to be. Thank you for your input Smile

You have just got me some strange looks from my kids though. I made some kind of involuntary noise when that photo opened.

Can we please have a warning on photos like thatGrin

PuzzledObserver · 15/02/2021 11:08

@SeldomFollowedIt no, Warwickshire Golf Club at Leek Wooton. That’s the GP-run hub covering practices in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. Group 6 are being contacted by GP’s it appears.

I have contact with a lot of older adults through my work. Initially they were all going to the Warwickshire, now it’s a mix - if you respond to a text or call from the GP, you go to the Warwickshire, but if you get a letter then you get a choice of hubs, of which Stoneleigh is the nearest.

SeldomFollowedIt · 15/02/2021 11:11

@PuzzledObserver

Ahh I see. I’ve been vaccinating around Stoneleigh. It’s non stop :)

SeldomFollowedIt · 15/02/2021 11:12

At, rather

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2021 11:24

I've just been offered a vaccination Thursday! I'm shocked.
I expect I'm in a group because of my asthma but it's only mild and I only have a blue inhaler so expected to be way down the list.
I suffer with health anxiety and ocd so it's been a bit of a shock and sent me spiralling but still really happy to have been offered it.
