NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

@FuzzyPuffling

I'm desperate to get my vaccine.. On March 10th it will be a year since we went into hiding. I'd like to see my family and friends again. I'd like to go into a shop. I'd like to go to the beach. But it looks like Surrey ( and possibly other areas) have nicked all the bloody vaccines so they are on to their over 50s now. HOW IS THAT SODDING FAIR?

How can I learn to be more patient?

I assume they have fewer people in the higher category groups and that’s how they’ve got to 50s?

I would be incredibly frustrated in your position too Fuzzy. I guess just remind yourself that your DH is much safer now, and every person who gets the vaccine, whoever they are makes it safer for you to go out when you can if you see what I mean.

Also let yourself be annoyed (maybe for a certain amount of time?) It is annoying.

Also, use your energy to lobby your MP for better services in your area in future.

From memory of where you are in Cornwall it certainly needs some work!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/02/2021 13:38

Our MP is not the most proactive chap. I have emailed him on several occasions!!
I think my frustration is that I have two conditions that put me in group 6 and I keep hearing about people with no issues elbowing me out of the way! ( A relative got her jab a few weeks ago, as she "might come into contact with vulnerable children". She works PT, entirely from home for a local council) Honestly, I'm turning into such a horrible person.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 13:40

How are the others who have had their vaccines feeling?

Ds1 went for a walk with his mate yesterday. He hasn't seen a sole beyond our house since school broke in December. And I didn't even worry a jot. So yes, feeling more confident as each week goes by although I haven't personally done anything different, yet.

Frazzled2207 · 14/02/2021 13:43

@FuzzyPuffling
No you’re not if certain gps or areas are saying certain people can jump ahead of CV people or people of a certain age then of course to some that will be unfair. Apols if already said but have you asked gp if they will vaccinate you soon?

Motorina · 14/02/2021 13:45

@sometimesamazinggrace

Any idea when the "no driving long distances to go on walks" will be lifted? I have a friend I would very much like to resume socially-distanced walks with but he's 20 miles away so would have to drive to get here and sit on a bench with me!
This is the one thing that will make the biggest difference to my quality of life. I'm ten miles drive from the most amazing walks - can go for miles without seeing anyone. Instead I and the dogs are stuck on the same mile out and back of muddy field margin.

I get that I'm lucky. I'm on a foot path. I can get out. It could be a lot worse. But I'm still sick to the back teeth of it.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 13:49

He hasn't seen a sole

Grin Or a soul, even.

Inastatus · 14/02/2021 14:03

@FourTeaFallOut - he must have met the odd haddock though 😅

Brunt0n · 14/02/2021 14:06

15 million target hit 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Brunt0n · 14/02/2021 14:15

The exact data will be available at 4PM but the number of new doses administered yesterday is going to be 507-525K

England administered 431K doses compared to 458K last week.

15 million people have received the vaccine, reaching the government goal 2 days ahead of schedule

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 14:20

15 million!

Man - a big epic thank you to everyone in the vaccine roll out, you utterly wonderful legends.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/02/2021 14:20

Fuzzy- it won’t be long now! You can do it!

I can’t wait to be allowed to go to the sea again. It’s so near and yet so far. We do have some nice walks within local driving distance and the coast is not much further but it would be very much against the spirit of the rules as people tend to cluster there.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 14:41

Amazing - how wonderful. It’s a really good day.
Sorry to all who are struggling - we making such good progress, brighter times ahead.

FebFrosting · 14/02/2021 14:49

@FuzzyPuffling I feel a bit the same. I have 5 different NHS consultants for different medical conditions and am in Group 6 and have to be in school as a teacher. No working from home. So lots of different things to put me at risk sadly and having been in resus part of A&E, been in HDU twice I am keen to stay out of hospital.

Not started group 6 here either, in England. Great over 50’s called elsewhere, but I am worried about schools fully opening when some areas have not had the vaccine for groups at risk. I was hoping for a vaccine in Feb! Hence my name! I cannot get hold of my Gp to even say, am I near top of group 6 name or how are you doing it? I do at least know I am group 6 and they are on group 5. And that Gp texts and letters are coming out after the ability to log on and book online system allows you to do it. So are behind!

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 14:50

Just saw some of the thread pp are referring to - it’s very upsetting. I knew the schools can’t go back posts would ramp up as soon as we got near to opening.
I’m not posting on there but as someone who has worked in child health for almost 30 years and wants schools open, it’s really insulting that posters are claiming wanting schools open is faux concern for children.
Very nasty tone from a minority of posters who quite frankly are self serving.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 14:52

Apologies - I should keep to thread. Sorry.

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2021 14:56

Oh just saw the one you mean. I’m feeling quite positive today think I’ll give it a swerve.

What a load of bunkum. Yeh as if we’re not actually concerned about children. I cannot understand people who are not at all. Such an alien concept.

alreadytaken · 14/02/2021 14:57

An additional 431,683 vaccinations have been reported over the past 24 hours in England.

An overall total of 13,165,548 in England.

50,329 1st jabs in Scotland yesterday.

Wales dont report at weekends but uk probably did another half a million yesterday. Between natural infection and vaccination we are probably looking at half the population having some protection in 3 weeks time and another few million on their way there. And the natural infection covers a lot of those most likely to spread it, because that's how they got it before.

Hope that turns people back to the bright side.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/02/2021 14:58

No apologies pom. I think this is the only thread where we can express our worries, whilst not getting bogged down in them. We KNOW the overall picture is one of improvement, and have lots of proof of that; it's just that now and again personal circumstances overcome us. Or me, at least.

My daughter is a teacher ( with underlying health issues) and I fear for her.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 15:03

@FuzzyPuffling that must be worrying for you, I hope the school have good measures in place and you both get your vaccine soon 🤞

The views on here are from a minority hopefully. I think the posts are alienating tbh aggressive, really doesn’t help - surprising the posters don’t twig this !

Inastatus · 14/02/2021 15:09

@Pomegranatespompom - I got drawn in to that schools thread 🙁

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2021 15:10

Pom yes aggressive. I’ll stick here and cook the roast instead ;

alreadytaken · 14/02/2021 15:10

fuzzy keep checking that government website for both your daughter and yourself. But every vaccine makes us all a little bit safer.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 15:16

@Inastatus I was going to post but decided I didn’t want to feel irate.., I only read a couple, that was enough ..
@MarshaBradyo we’re having a roast too, might open a bottle of something and track the good news on this thread.

starfish88 · 14/02/2021 15:22

@MarshaBradyo good idea to give it a swerve. @Pomegranatespompom I have to regularly remind myself that just because a lot of people say something doesn't make it right, true or anymore likely to happen. Still it depressed me so I had to drown my sorrows in an overbaked toddler-made cupcake with too much icing to cheer myself up. I totally recommend!

@FuzzyPuffling I hope you get your vaccine soon. Can you book in tomorrow when they open the CV category online? Apologies if not, Im not 100% on UK news, just hoping for the best.
