NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

@FuzzyPuffling

I won't know what to do when things open up! What do you actually do in a supermarket?
@FuzzyPuffling - you’ll need patience as it will take you twice the amount of time as you have to stand back and wait for other customers to faff about deciding which tin of beans/pack of toilet roll/box of cereal to buy whilst you fight the urge to lunge forward into the 2m area and grab your item off the shelf 😅 Defo stick to online!
MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2021 18:47

I don’t think it’s possible to discuss it on those threads anymore.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 18:48

Absolutely right @FourTeaFallOut it’s been fairly quiet but ramping up now that schools might open. I’m really surprised at the depths people will go to.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 18:49

@MarshaBradyo absolutely not with engaging. Preys on people’s fears though which is pretty awful.

MadisonAvenue · 14/02/2021 18:50

My daughter is a teacher ( with underlying health issues) and I fear for her.

My son is a teacher too, and I’m nagging him to check with the GP as to whether he falls into group 6. He’s eligible for a free flu jab and there’s a vague mention of the health issue that he has in the list.

It worries me for him and for all of us, he still lives at home. My husband is 52 and we’re nowhere near reaching that age group for vaccines around here. Me and our younger son have been vaccinated but with AZ so that’s worrying me with regard to mutations, particularly the SA one, plus I know a couple of have both been vaccinated around 3 or 4 weeks ago (due to their jobs) and both have tested positive this week.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 18:59

I think concerns like that are reasonable. But there are accusations being levied that parents have faux concern over their children's education.

I'm cev and I sent my child in on Jan 4th,
with covid at its height, knowing that if he brings it home then I could be in a bad way. But I value education and, for my youngest, who clearly has sn but is not yet on the radar for support, it provided him some continuity with an environment that he can find challenging. So off he went and I crossed my fingers.

And now apparently my desire for him to be at school has fuck all to do with his wellbeing? With his brothers well being?

I'll have this post removed if you like, it's not very good news. I'm just sick with the injustice of the accusation.

hahaboink · 14/02/2021 19:02

Good news please! This thread used to be my safe haven. So I’ll start. My friend who has asthma (more severe than mine but not hugely severe) had her vaccine today! In north London. So they’re onto group 6 there!

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 19:07

@MadisonAvenue do encourage your son to check with his GP.

Re positivity post vaccinations- lots or evidence which demonstrates less severity of illness.

@FourTeaFallOut these posters have an agenda - there is no reasoning or middle ground to be reached. That’s obvious with every measure dismissed as not enough - including vaccinations.

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 19:08

My friend in group 6 was also vaccinated yesterday 😊

🤞more people get their appointments soo.

Sorry I went off topic but it’s actually really comforting to see that other people feel the same.
I will try to stick to theme in future.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/02/2021 19:23

We're never grumpy for long here though are we? It's not like the whole thread is full of doom; just that sometimes we need to get answers or express concerns.

And I think that is absolutely fair enough.

TeaInTheGarden · 14/02/2021 19:27

I love coming over to this thread when I have a wobble. I’ve never felt my mental health go up and down so much as this lockdown and it’s quite scary. Coming over here to read positive friendly comments has helped so very much. And seeing other people wobble and then come back is also really reassuring.
Long may these threads continue!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/02/2021 19:48

I come here for the positive vibe

To help people having a wobble because it upsets me to see and selfishly it makes me feel useful

To find good news or ask a question you just dare not on another thread

Oh and to count how many times Pom says sorry or apologies 😂😂😂

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2021 20:01

Ok, I'm back on message. I'm sitting on my hands and staying in the good thread bubble with the best posters on MN.

whataballbag · 14/02/2021 20:03

I'm in group 6, going to try online booking tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it will let me as it's also my birthday tomorrow! Be a grand present

Flowers Luckily I don’t think MN is representative. There is some very strange hero-worshipping/ god complex stuff going on over on that thread!
Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 20:05

My apologies have been noted in real life 😂😂 maybe I should have some therapy 😂

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/02/2021 20:06

Does anyone remember which inhaler put you in group 6?

Think people were discussing it on here. Is it the brown one or is it more complicated than that?

Pomegranatespompom · 14/02/2021 20:06

Yes there is hero worshipping - all so strange.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/02/2021 20:07

Yes it was the brown inhaler; and also be offered a flu jab each year. I keep seeing conflicting things about this though - can’t seem to get a straight answer anywhere.
InterfectoremVulpes · 14/02/2021 20:19

Its almost cult like (not a typo)

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2021 20:21

It skews the whole site. As the same posters pile on aggressively.

Tg for this thread. It’s nice and markedly free from it.
