This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

I get an average of 362k per day, so I estimate all the first lot of priorities having their first jab on 12 Feb! Based on BBC figures.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2021 17:14

If you use the last 7 days to get an average we're above 430k/day now.

Yep definitely before the 15th. Also if you look at 10% not wanting or being able to have the vaccine and remove that amount. You are well into group 5 by the 15th.

Hmmph · 04/02/2021 17:20

Excellent! I like your figures even better!

PuzzledObserver · 04/02/2021 17:20

Bringing hope, jab by jab

One day in a vaccine hub

@Babdoc did you miss the part where I said I was in NORTH Scotland and yes areas around here ARE mostly rural with huge distances between areas of urban living Hmm I was talking about these areas where I know what's happening.

People doing our famous NC500 route are often shocked to get to Inverness and realise there's more than 100 miles to go to get anywhere near the top of Scotland. Doesn't help that tv weather maps are so tilted it makes our area look tiny when we are really not.

Parkandride · 04/02/2021 17:38

@doritodiva

I just love this thread. My baby is due in April and I'm hoping grandparents will be able to meet the baby after they've all had their jabs and hopefully easing of lockdown rules!
Same Smile 1/4 grandparents done here, hoping for them all!
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 04/02/2021 17:42

Found you! Marking my place to follow the joy. I’m having a shitter of a week and this is the only good news Flowers

chocolateisavegetable · 04/02/2021 17:46

I can't really get my head around 10 million people, but when I read "one in 5 adults have had the vaccine" - it just seemed more significant!

buttery81 · 04/02/2021 18:07

Woah - that is wonderful!!

Babdoc will take any opportunity to bash Scotland.

littlebillie · 04/02/2021 19:50

I had mine yesterday, they are doing 300 per day 7 days a week

Motorina · 04/02/2021 20:17

@FourTeaFallOut

There was a big step up between Thursday and Friday last week. I'm going with a cool 11m. So 510k doses.
I agree. I think topping 11million tomorrow is entirely within the realm of possibility. Just extraordinary.
Motorina · 04/02/2021 20:19

Next cheering thought: I wonder how long it will be til we break the million in a day mark?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 20:25

If 1 million a day is possible then not until April at the earliest. I think by then supply of Pfizer and AZ will be up. Plus hopefully one of the new jabs will start to be delivered too

Quornflakegirl · 04/02/2021 20:53

Dh was told today he is receiving his first jab on Monday. He is and a critical (non NHS) worker. Hopefully this is the start for teachers being moved to priority groups too.

tootyfruitypickle · 04/02/2021 20:57

The fact my mid 70s folks haven't had it yet does make feel like I'm living in some parallel universe !
Hopefully next week then !!

Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2021 20:58

@Quornflakegirl
That’s great but surprising that people like him are being called up but no official announcement? Does he work with (but not in) the nhs? I know some linked industries have been able to get their staff jabbed.

I do think it’s going to be tricky to prioritise key workers simply as there are so many - you’d have to show proof which would be easy to fake.

Quornflakegirl · 04/02/2021 21:02

frazzled he has no links to the NHS but is county council employed, he job is critical and he deals with a lot of people. 25 staff who work with him are all being vaccinated on the same day. He was only told today.

Motorina · 04/02/2021 21:23

@tootyfruitypickle have they tried the booking link circulating on various threads?

tootyfruitypickle · 04/02/2021 21:26

@Motorina they won't as it still says not without a letter, and need GP led anyway as they can't get to a hub. Looks like only half 70s done , sure will be huge push nxt week!

tootyfruitypickle · 04/02/2021 21:27

If they're already doing critical workers surely some police are being done, and they absolutely must add in teachers !

WetJan · 04/02/2021 21:27

Checking in. Just seen on fb a friend in her 30s has been jabbed (vulnerable due to various meds). Fab news.

I've taken the positivity a step further and put a deposit on a camper Grin

OooErrThor · 04/02/2021 21:34

I love the positivity of this thread Glitterball
