10 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

The Scots are improving but according to a graph I saw yesterday on the welsh presser they are lagging in the numbers per 100,000 per day. They may well catch up over the course of this week tho.

CaveMum · 04/02/2021 14:22

England data is late today. I might have to go and do some work instead of hitting F5 repeatedly Shock

PuzzledObserver · 04/02/2021 14:23

Has there been significant snow in Scotland? That would be a factor, particularly in more rural areas.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 04/02/2021 14:25

Scotland is signifiantly more sparsely populated than England so they are always going to struggle to reach everyone - particularly the older age groups.

Sturgeon won’t like being “bested” by a Johnson though so hopefully she has a plan!

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/02/2021 14:26

I live in the south west, we have reached million vaccinations.

ImnotCarolineHirons · 04/02/2021 14:31

I'm in north Scotland. Due to rural areas, and difficulty with transport, some areas were vaccinating the over 80s at as many local surgeries as possible, to help their attendance. They are now moving over to big vaccination hubs in cities and central locations for the 70s so that should speed up the jab rate.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2021 14:36

The U.K. has been pushed two places down the international jab rate table by.... Jersey and Guernsey. It looks like they started Jan 17th and did over a quarter of their population in a few days. The 'small territory outlier' effect, no doubt, but well done them! It quirkily makes half the top 10 'british' in some way.Grin

Hugo Gye tweets:

381,076 additional vaccine doses registered in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 yesterday (378,794 1st doses, 2,282 2nd doses)

45,358 in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
28,129 in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

InterfectoremVulpes · 04/02/2021 14:55

378794 first dose vaccinations done in England "yesterday"!

CaveMum · 04/02/2021 14:57

Fantastic numbers! So we can put a guesstimate on UK numbers being around the 450,000 mark today? That is agonisingly close to 10.5 million!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 04/02/2021 14:57

Yay big numbers 🥳

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2021 14:57

For comparison, numbers declared last Thursday were 314,707. So that'll be a significant boost to the rolling average before NI adds their number to the total.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2021 14:57

450k minimum.

CoffeeandCroissant · 04/02/2021 14:59

381k added (first and second doses). 51% increase on Thursday last week. Running 7 day total 2.57m.

Happy new thread!
Just given my in laws a nudge on checking the booking link as it sounds like more under 70s are starting to get done, fingers crossed they'll be soon

Shehz21 · 04/02/2021 15:06

Checking in. DH is a frontliner and already has a date for his 2nd one. Pfizer vaccine. Wondering when MIL will have hers.. she is 67 and we are in East London..

Babdoc · 04/02/2021 15:12

Scotland’s population is 80% urban, (mainly central belt) not rural. The SNP have just been crap - as usual - at getting the rollout organised. England has 1500 vaccine hubs up and running. Scotland? Just 2.
When I type my age into the vaccine queue calculator, it says I’d be vaccinated in mid Feb (England) but mid April (Scotland).
So Scotland is two months behind.
Thank goodness the UK have offered military assistance to speed them up!

buttery81 · 04/02/2021 15:20

The early numbers sound very positive... roll on 4pm! Grin

@notevenat20

I am never sure how to translate the England only numbers at 2pm into likely UK numbers at 4pm. Does anyone have a handy formula?
You can only really do a rough estimate based on averaging previous numbers, but an easier option is to follow this guy on twitter as he does it for you. Grin mobile.twitter.com/ganeshran/status/1357341847719321600

His tweet for today is:

^The exact data will be available at 4PM but the number of new doses administered yesterday is going to be 456K-474K

England administered 381K doses compared to 252K last week.

Scotland sets a new daily record of 45.3K doses.

notevenat20 · 04/02/2021 15:31

Thanks! I am now following someone new :)

So close!!!! We need 478,529 to break through 10.5 million!

If you want another good stats person to follow I recommend @jburnmurdoch. He does stats (and lovely graphs) for the FT.

CaveMum · 04/02/2021 15:42

More great stats!
