This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

just done my maths and I don't think it will be quite half a mill but not far off. 470k+ though so hopefully the best ever thursday numbers (and may be rest of the week's numbers be even higher!!!)

DdraigGoch · 18/02/2021 14:50

Yesterday's data showed a considerable step up in second doses from previous figures too.

PuzzledObserver · 18/02/2021 15:14

So what number are we going to start the next thread with?

I think if you count jabs it will hit half a million. But quite a few second jabs so less than that for first jabs. Whichever jab it is, it is people whose risk is being reduced so it makes me happy.
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/02/2021 15:30

And the more first jabs are done now the fewer will be needed later.

It’ll have to be today’s figure at 4pm, if we can hold off filling it up before then! @buttery81 are you on standby to put up a new one?! I thought your OP in this thread was excellent so should be used again!

Agree - Buttery’s wording was excellent - we want that again.

Frazzled2207 · 18/02/2021 15:53

This is an England only chart but great to see the visualisation of the new figures.

@Mumoftwoinprimary
Yeah I reckon. I think in future we might need to get excited about numbers of jabs in total rather than first jabs as the latter might get lower (and understandably so)

I have mine at 6pm!

buttery81 · 18/02/2021 16:05

New total just in...

16,423,082 people have now received their 1st dose of vaccine up to and including 17 February 2021

That’s an increase of 482,110 on yesterday’s figure. And we’re nearly halfway through the 16s already! Just tremendous!!! Grin

💉💉💉 fantastic numbers today!

Standing by for the new thread @buttery81

Plus another 15,000 second doses. So 497,000 in total. So close to the half a million!

Yes mum but we did hit a new Thursday high like you said Grin

Parkandride · 18/02/2021 16:24

Good numbers today

My mum causally dropped into conversation that she's been jabbed this week so all parents and inlaws done! Shes 64 so was thinking she'd have to wait a bit but thinks they maybe did it by birth year rather exact date of birth, or perhaps they're just making great progress!

Flev · 18/02/2021 16:24

I'm one of yesterday's half million or so Grin

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 18/02/2021 16:25

I’m so excited for the next thread! What an amazing achievement! I truly love this thread and feel it’s helped my GAD so much. Thank you all Flowers

gingeristhenewblack43 · 18/02/2021 16:28

Agree @GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat this thread is like a balm to my soul

HalfDutchGirl · 18/02/2021 16:30

@Fgs1

When you get your first vaccination do they tell you when your second one will be?
At the vaccine hub where I’m working the vast majority of people who come in for their jabs have booked their second appointment at the same time as the first.
TheHateIsNotGood · 18/02/2021 16:33

I got mine yesterday too - it was so well organized.

To the poster upthread who asked if they tell you when you get second jab - I wasn't, but told I would be contacted.

As I waited I wanted to cry or cheer, but just did what everyone else did and quietly did as I was very politely asked to.
