This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

Would make sense then to invite more of those who can use the hubs. Hopefully it will pick up in a few days.

Frazzled6 · 16/02/2021 17:24

Someone said on another thread that Group 6 are being handled by GP practices so I guess they can't turnover the same numbers as the big hubs.

I think the process will slow down with GPS now involved given they are using their own data. May make sense to use the big centres for all age over 50.

PuzzledObserver · 16/02/2021 17:29

Isn't there also a slowdown in Pfizer supply for a couple of weeks?

lurker101 · 16/02/2021 17:32

Didn’t the Govt also announce that they have “sent letters” to those now eligible to book their vaccine? Presumably the typical postal delays will also be kicking in a bit, I was surprised they didn’t direct the newly eligible groups to book online at the briefing last night.

  • Someone said on another thread that Group 6 are being handled by GP practices so I guess they can't turnover the same numbers as the big hubs.

DHs invitation must be a group 6, I think it may have come from the GPs but the appointment is at a large medical centre not the surgery.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 16/02/2021 18:03

I am wondering how many group 6 could be home visits for vaccinations.

Plus how many will take longer at GP hubs. Wheelchairs, walking sticks and other reasons for a percentage of group 6 will mean more time and consideration needed.

My mother was in the 70s group and to stop her wheelchair holding up the jabs. When she went in and out the surgery building. They got her pushed under a porch to one side of entrance. Then a nurse came outside and jabbed here.

She was very disappointed not to see the arrangements for jabs inside. It was just a quick jab outside and goGrin

Boris said yesterday that GPs would be handling the clinically vulnerable group as they’re best placed to do it, knowing the needs of patients etc.

My positivity is dripping away today, there seems to be so much negativity around. Threads predicting nothing will change, the 22nd announcement will be pointless and people thinking we should be locked up until 2022.

I wonder if it’s because we hit the big milestone yesterday and there wasn’t much fanfare, we’ve just moved on to the next phase. I don’t know but will try and focus on the positives: the 4 most vulnerable groups have been jabbed, most areas are well into the next 2 groups, it’s lighter and warmer out, it’s pancake day and soon there’ll be Easter eggs to enjoy Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 16/02/2021 18:57

They were talking on the 6 o clock news how many over 80s now have antibodies, that's some positive news for you, Londt

BunsyGirl · 16/02/2021 19:09

My GP practice has shared the NHS link for group 5 to book and confirmed that they are doing group 6 and will contact people directly.

Paddy1234 · 16/02/2021 19:28

All the people on my Facebook in group 6 were vaccinated today by GP and some group 6 are being done by hubs tomorrow so it's all go in our area! It's been a busy day. However the nay slayers were out in force but taken down by the RNs

NeedToGetOuttaHere · 16/02/2021 19:30

I’m group 6 and have mine on Thursday.

Crumpetycrump · 16/02/2021 19:39

I’m booked in to have my first jab in the new mix and match vaccine trial on Sunday! Can’t wait. I wonder if I will grow a new head and limb 🤔!

Nacreous · 16/02/2021 20:23

Centres will be jabbing at the available rate of vaccine supply, so I don't think it's fair to say that it's to do with which places are open.

There was massive push at the end of next week and while humans are employed to vaccinate people there will always be peaks and troughs - if you go all out on a few days you will have to have quieter days to support workforce needs. It's all a zero sum game ultimately.

Some good numbers posted tonight by NI’s Dept of Health for progress through the key groups

The guardian is saying all priority groups could be done by Easter

pinkhappy · 16/02/2021 22:04

The guardian seems to have involved discovering multiplication (or division). How they can have "revealed" in the title is beyond me unless I am missing something?

Presumably they've got a headline writer on secondment from a red top or one of the local rags. Clickbait headlines. The rest of us have been using the Omnicalculator for weeks.
EasterIssland · 16/02/2021 22:51

The rest of us have been using the Omnicalculator for weeks.

Even there it says I could have it in April (36yo no underlying ) so i guess it’s not that far from alll those priority groups vaccinated by Easter

Londt · 17/02/2021 10:19

That is positive news @ErrolTheDragon Smile and should hopefully provide encouragement to those countries who are unsure on using the Oxford vaccine on the over 65s.

It’s random acts of kindness day so I would like to tell those who take the time to post here how appreciated you are. The number crunchers, fact finders and those who have the ability to calm others - thank you Flowers I think you’re all so impressive!

CaveMum · 17/02/2021 14:25

That’s a lovely post @Londt

Today’s numbers look good, on track for about 360k-370k depending on NI numbers.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 15:06

Lovely 🥳
Thank you ❤

TheLaughingGenome · 17/02/2021 15:10

I think the vaccine programme where I live (in Eng) has been very impressive. The pharmacies have been a huge help - no queuing, very clean, airy and efficient.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 17/02/2021 15:24

@CaveMum

That’s a lovely post *@Londt*

Today’s numbers look good, on track for about 360k-370k depending on NI numbers.

So looks like we are about 15% down on last week then (last week Mon - Wed was 1043k and this week it is 884k).

So as we did 3 million last week looking like maybe 2.5 million.

Pretty good considering supplies were expected to be down this week.

I’m still hoping for 20 million by the end of February!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 15:34

Yes 2.5 million is great ❤

We have just got a bit greed😂

Remember near the beginning when we were hoping to get to 1 million a week

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 15:35

20 million for the 28th🤞
