This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

The FT have also got their calculator out. Grin

Graphic gives a good illustration of when second doses start to become a factor.

Nice graphic. Thanks.

There was an interview with one of the vaccine buyers. He said that by spring double the supply would be possible. So long as no glitches come up. So lets hope we get that added to a graph soon Grin

His mother's response 😂😂😂

Frazzled2207 · 17/02/2021 16:09

Touching distance of 16 million today
365k which brings it to 15,940,972 total first doses

Mumoftwoinprimary · 17/02/2021 16:44

Today we have had seven consecutive days of less than 1000 deaths per day.

Monkeytennis97 · 17/02/2021 16:48

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

20 million for the 28th🤞
That would be great!
buttery81 · 17/02/2021 17:10

Wonderful new total for today - looking forward to burning past another nice round number tomorrow!

Today we have had seven consecutive days of less than 1000 deaths per day.

30% - that’s great!

I guess the next big milestone is 33.33333333% or 1 in 3. Is that about 17.7 million? Some point in the next week I guess.....

FourTeaFallOut · 17/02/2021 17:18

No way, really? 30% - that's leaped since I last had a look on this thread. Awesome!

Yes, I’m hugely looking forward to that!

30% why isn't that all over the newspapers? So awesome 🥳

17.7 million to make it 1 in 3. Thanks for that I love a mini milestone (Not that it is a mini number but you know what I mean😂)

lurker101 · 17/02/2021 17:44

30% was in the corner of Sky News - got very excited seeing it! Worth changing channel just to admire it 😂

PuzzledObserver · 17/02/2021 17:47

@CaveMum another way of cutting that data from Israel. 0.1% of the vaccinated group tested positive - that’s 602 people. And only 7 of them were serious cases, just over 1%

To put it another way, if scaled up to the UK population, by multiplying by 110, we would have 770 serious cases per year. You would think we could cope with that.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 17/02/2021 18:32

@CoffeeandCroissant that is freaking hilarious 😂

SilenceIsNoLongerSuspicious · 17/02/2021 20:16

I stupidly closed the tab on my phone and lost the link to the website that shows cumulative and daily jabs (done and projected) for different countries - can anyone post it?

PuzzledObserver · 17/02/2021 20:58

Do you mean this one, @SilenceIsNoLongerSuspicious?

SilenceIsNoLongerSuspicious · 17/02/2021 21:42

@PuzzledObserver Yes! Thank you!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 17/02/2021 22:33

I’ve just realised! 16.65 million is also an exciting milestone. 25% of the entire population! Might even happen tomorrow (although we won’t hear about it until Friday). Probably will happen on Friday and we’ll hear about it on Saturday.

Even better than that though, the reduction in transmission once we're up to herd immunity levels of vaccination means that the chances of those 770 people actually coming across the virus in the first place are much reduced.
