Any idea when the vaccines might start for this group and how they'll be divided up ? It's a big group !

YepI know it includes carers allowance although its unclear how they are called up if not registered with the gp. Thats a separate list.

Glad you've been "done!"

Member141089 · 01/02/2021 21:39

MiraWard1 wondering if we live in the same town or attend the same doctor’s surgery as the exact same thing happened to me! Received a text Saturday evening and managed to book for Sunday. I’m in group 6 as well.

BenoneBeauty · 01/02/2021 21:50

When do they start giving people the 2nd dose?

DenisetheMenace · 01/02/2021 21:54

BenoneBeauty

When do they start giving people the 2nd dose?“

Mum (81) was vaccinated a week ago and has her second appt. on 3rd April. Stepdad (74) receiving his first next week and 2nd appt. on 12th April.

purpleme12 · 01/02/2021 21:57

What is group 6?
I'm a bit confused
Someone up thread said it's for people on the flu jab list
Well I'm on flu jab list (only because I get a blue inhaler) but I've got no conditions on the vulnerable list

ihearttc · 01/02/2021 22:01

I’d like to know too. I’ve got Rheumatoid Arthritis although I’m only on a DMARD not methotrexate. I assumed I’d be included but I’m not sure now. I’m a TA as well (I’ve worked in school throughout) so would be most welcomed.

LIZS · 01/02/2021 22:02

60-64 and those medically vulnerable but not shielding.

purpleme12 · 01/02/2021 22:03

Ok fair enough I was a bit confused by someone saying it's the people on the flu jab list
WillSpingSpring · 01/02/2021 22:06

I had asked because at the start I thought they said you were classed as vulnerable if you're offered the flu jab as that was why you are offered it

justwanttoknow21 · 01/02/2021 22:07

@MoneySuperMeerkat

Just had to come on this thread and brag share. I just got a text from my GP inviting me to book - am booked for Thursday!

Group 6, carer 🙌

Me too, I'm a carer for my 93 year old Mum and I'm having my jab on Saturday 😀🙌🏻🙌🏻
Flossie44 · 01/02/2021 22:12

I’ve heard this evening that our local hub is running below capacity and are asking the over 70’s to book online as they have lots of space.
I’m group 6. I really do believe in the orders being processed correctly to protect the vulnerable. But is there a case to call the hub somehow?

Redlocks28 · 01/02/2021 22:13

Wow, some areas are really ahead! My mum is nearly 80 and not been called yet.

Stepdad is 74 and received his 2 days ago. Fingers crossed for your mum, it won’t be long now 😃

drspouse · 01/02/2021 22:22

DH is CEV and his is booked for Weds. I think I'm group 6 but I'm not sure. I have asthma but it's not severe, and I'm carer to DS who has disabilities, but I don't know if my GP has me down as either of these (I did register as carer).

Fantastic. Such a great thread!

Peppafrig · 01/02/2021 22:25

So much hope on this thread. I don’t suppose any of the carers getting jabs are in Scotland ? I feel like we are so behind .

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/02/2021 22:28

I was done yesterday (ECV) and we've hopefully moved DH up from group 9 to 6 as he qualifies as a carer for me. Group 5 isn't big so hopefully it will be in a week or two.
Once we get to March the first jabs will have to slow down to do the second jabs but the speed they are doing this now is incredible. I was hoping to have my first jab mid Feb.

Wee Nicky says not. Scotland is on target too, according to Evan Davies on PM.

The UK as an whole has - for once - played a blinder this time. (Lucky accident or expertise, who cares? Result’s the same.)

ihearttc · 01/02/2021 22:35

This was the list that I saw.

Dammit, I liked this username too! 😆

@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid

I know about being registered as a carer with the gp. You dont need to receive carers allowance to do this.

My point is that the govt has said those on carers allowance will be entitled. But they havent told those on CA to register with the gp. No public campaign etc - more wait your turn to be called. Normally theyre quite hot on not sharing information (esp since gdpr) so I wondered if anyone knew how officially this was happening.

I have had emails from all the carers groups, disability groups etc saying to register if not already. I don’t think the Government really realise how disconnected carers allowance etc is from GP. All the years I’ve been receive carers allowance the GP has never once asked if I’m a carer or asked at appointments if my children have a carer.
hedgehogger1 · 01/02/2021 22:42

I thought it was only severe asthma too.

Lots of people haven’t visited their GP in years it won’t have occurred to them to register as carers at their doctors . The government need to let people know that’s what expected.

MrsFezziwig · 01/02/2021 22:52

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady
Has anyone tried the direct booking link just to see whether they're allowed to book yet?

I started doing it and chickened out because I thought it mite flag something or that even if it didn't work it mite somehow delay me getting contacted...

Yes, I’ve tried because I’m getting pretty close and apparently if they have started on your group you don’t actually have to wait for your letter to book online, but not eligible yet in my area. Never imagined that it would put a red flag against me Confused

I’ve been following the thread about booking online and there were a few posters who tried booking but weren’t eligible, tried a few days later and they were so hadn’t been cast into the outer darkness. The online booking preferentially offers mass vaccination centres and pharmacies - I think if you want to go to your GP you have to actually wait for your letter to arrive.
