Any idea when the vaccines might start for this group and how they'll be divided up ? It's a big group !

@drspouse This is truly amazing. Just why couldn't we do this for test and trace and for quarantining arrivals??!

The vaccine effort is being run by the NHS, a lot of us are volunteering for free to make sure there are enough vaccinators.

Track and trace etc are outsourced to the government's cronies.

Flossie44 · 02/02/2021 20:36

ThatDamnKrampus - that’s fantastic you had your vaccine!! I’m sure it will smooth out in the coming weeks to enable the second. Have you a card to show you had your first??

It says online not to turn up at our hub. I’m chomping at the bit!!!!!

Flossie44 · 02/02/2021 20:46

Can I ask where you are, roughly?

TheVamoosh · 02/02/2021 20:51

DH has a qualifying condition, but was quite recently diagnosed and he's never seen an NHS GP for it. (We have health insurance cover through his job.) Does this mean he needs to contact his GP to flag this up, in case he doesn't appear in their system as eligible? Does anyone know? I'm worried about him being passed over.

ThatDamnKrampus · 02/02/2021 21:52

@Flossie44

I got a card with the date and batch number and got told to bring to my next appointment.

I've just sent you a PM.

Spring2021 · 02/02/2021 21:55

My mum is 79 and she hasn’t had an appointment yet and I am CEV and I haven’t had an appointment for mine yet either. I think it really depends where you live, whether you have a large hub near you and or how quickly your Dr’s surgery get supplies and get through patients etc.

drspouse · 02/02/2021 22:01

@ExpulsoCorona good point. I won't ask why that happened, and wasn't changed. Sigh.

ExpulsoCorona · 02/02/2021 22:25

@TheVamoosh yes, it would be to be on his notes so that he can be invited. Ask him to drop a copy of the correspondence from the private provider to his GP practice so that they can code it on his notes.

@Spring2021 both you and your mum are eligible now. If your local practice haven't got down to your group yet, try booking on this site. The post has been pretty delayed, v if your letter has been generated it will let you book even if you haven't received it yet: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

ExpulsoCorona · 02/02/2021 22:27

@drspouse at least we can feel reassured that
with vaccines the NHS are managing this, so we can make at least this aspect a success.

verybusyknitter · 02/02/2021 22:32

@2boysand1princess

Your sister could be in Group 6, she should check with her surgery.

Both of us are in Group 6 as unpaid carers to our 19 year old severely autistic son, who is also in Group 6.

There is some information here on www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-vaccine-faqs

True! V-day for DH tomorrow!

ExpulsoCorona · 02/02/2021 23:25

@drspouse that's fantastic!

TheVamoosh · 02/02/2021 23:39

@ExpulsoCorona

Thank you for answering. His GP has been copied in on correspondence, so I guess that's already been done but I'll ask him to double check.

drspouse · 03/02/2021 07:55
@drspouse that's fantastic!
He has an insulin pod (It's another condition that makes him CEV) and he's gone to have a shower and clean the medical adhesive off his jab arm. I think I'm more excited than is reasonable!

Flossie44 · 03/02/2021 08:02

Drspouse - I think I would be incredibly excited!!!!! I keep imagining the day!!

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/02/2021 08:14

Just looked up our area and they are now doing over 70s. They did not refer to a group number, just that category.

AsthmaChecker · 03/02/2021 08:15

For all those clinically vulnerable who are hoping moderate asthma puts them into group 6:

I emailed the JCVI about this and got a reply last week from a Senior Scientist there.

They confirmed that the wider, clinically vulnerable moderate asthmatics are not in Group 6 but will hopefully be in the second tranche of vaccinations.

I emailed Asthma U.K. last week to ask their policy department to get in touch with me/the JCVI about this, as they’re telling people on Twitter that the Dept for Health is saying the CV asthmatics should be in Group 6, which is clearly against what the JCVI are saying.

Asthma U.K. haven’t got back to me yet.

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/02/2021 08:17

Ah, just looked it up, sorry group 4.

Jinglealltheway22 · 03/02/2021 08:39

My parents GP in Warwickshire have called me (my mobile number is registered at their practice) 3x for each parent.

They are at their holiday home in Europe and are staying put for the moment until cases drop here.

I've told the GP that six times and it was only on the 3rd phone call each that they said they would note it as a decline.

But they said just to call when they land back in the UK and they will book them in. They've also had their NHS booking letters.

I'm sure they just have a (very long) list of patients in order or priority and they are just working their way down until appointments are full.

Warwickshire are on group 4 now, but I'm sure there will be patients they haven't been able to contact. I hope they just remain on their lists and they still try to contact them.

I think group 5 are being sent their letters next week, which is great news.

If anyone has a relative 70+ who hasn't been called, I'd check the NHS covid vaccine appointment site to see if you can book them in. They should be eligible even if they haven't yet received their letters (postal delays).

We don't want anyone left behind

Jinglealltheway22 · 03/02/2021 08:42

@Redlocks28

Wow, some areas are really ahead! My mum is nearly 80 and not been called yet.
Input your mums details on the booking site - if she's eligible (which she definitely is if she's over 80) it will show you the nearest available appointments to her home postcode.

Get her booked in x

Their website directs people to British Lung Foundation website. According to that ( as of yesterday!) people with chronic lung conditions such as asthma (doesn’t clarify intensity of illness, eg severe etc., just says chronic) aged 16-64 will be in group 6.
So everything crossed here for our 18 year old.

Would you be kind and post again when they do get back to you, if they say otherwise?

Bourbonbiccy · 03/02/2021 09:55

I'm getting mine this week and I'm group 4 for rheumatoid/psoriatic arthritis.

drspouse · 03/02/2021 13:05

DH had Pfizer, just waiting to see if he has a reaction.
I'm not sure how I check if my GP has me down as carer for DS, I did ring them to tell them.

Flossie44 · 03/02/2021 15:18

How can I look up which group are being vaccinated in my area?

Yes of course. It is ch.14a of the Green Book that needs to be updated though as that is what the NHS / GP surgeries are going by.
