Any idea when the vaccines might start for this group and how they'll be divided up ? It's a big group !

Surely second doses are going to start to slow the rollout of the first doses shortly. 1-4 is vital to cover 1st dose but then I fully expect it to slow down. I think I'm group 6, get a flu jab due to asthma but it's a bit unclear at the moment.

Crakeandoryx · 01/02/2021 15:24

We're in doing group 4 which slowed down last week due to supply. PCTs saying they're expecting more vaccines now. We have the staff it's the vaccine supply that's slowing things up.

WillSpingSpring · 01/02/2021 15:26

If you get offered the flu jab does that mean you are in group 6?

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 01/02/2021 15:27

I dont think theyve said that everyone who gets the flu jab has been included.

Flossie44 · 01/02/2021 15:37

Gp told me last week that we are still doing the over 80’s here. Yet I know two men in their early 40’s, both CEV, who had theirs over the weekend!!

I’m a carer For my CEV child and also got underlying health conditions listed on the list myself. Group 6. Desperate for the text!! Will feel like Christmas!!

Flossie44 · 01/02/2021 15:38

I’ve got epilepsy and asthma (steroid level) and never get invited for a flu jab. I always have to chase my surgery!!

Poppyliveshere · 01/02/2021 16:38

@2boysand1princess

What actually is a carer? My sister has a child who is vulnerable (autism and mental health) she cares for her obviously unpaid. Does she qualify for a vaccine under group 6 as a cater?
Yes, I have 2 sons with autism and other MH conditions, and GP practice manager has put me on carers list group 6, and I don’t get carers allowance
PuzzledObserver · 01/02/2021 16:52

The thing is, they are not going to insist on completing everyone in each group before going on to the next.

If they are making appointments by ringing people up (seems to be happening with older people here), how many times do they try before they cross them off as declined? Can they ever do that - do they actually have to speak to them to confirm they don’t want it? Similarly, if they are texting invitations, how long do they wait before trying again or giving up?

It makes sense, once they’ve made one or attempts at everyone in one group, to move on to booking the next, as otherwise there would be appointments going begging. I’m sure nobody wants that.

I think they are insisting on this though, some people on this board are reporting going to/working at the big hubs with huge capacity and it being a bit empty.

Yet they are not formally inviting by letter group 5 and 6 yet in my area (although they have invited people I know in early 70s already).

I think the mass invites of the next group are dictated by the government?

The big hubs maybe could be used more with groups 5 and 6 who should be far more mobile and fit than the top 4 levels. Maybe they could expand the time to reach a hub to 1 hr also?

CyberPixie · 01/02/2021 17:11

I had mine yesterday morning. They phoned sat around 5pm so short notice. I'm 43 chronic neurological condition and mild asthma. I had the Oxford/AstraZeneca one. Today I feel awful and barely slept last night. Severe joint and muscle pain, chills, temperature, nausea when painkillers wear off. I hope it doesn't last much longer! My mum 70 had hers at same time, some muscle ache and a headache, chills but no severe pain like me.

McFarts · 01/02/2021 17:15

Yorkshire was racing through at an amazing rate, then we had our allowance reduced, so that other area's could catch up. Disappointing to hear that doesnt seem to be the case everywhere, when i know several CEV who had not yet been contacted at all.

justwanttoknow21 · 01/02/2021 17:15

@CyberPixie great to hear you've had it. NOT great about the side effects. I hope you feel better soon. I also have Neuro condition. Are you on medication for that ?I have read on here that the Oxford one has worse side effects. Where are you ?

MotherofTerriers · 01/02/2021 17:20

I'm group 6 in Scotland so probably sometime in 2022

CyberPixie · 01/02/2021 17:20

@justwanttoknow21 I'm in Dorset.

Yes I'm on various meds.

The nurse told me that younger people under 55 tend to have more side effects. I was expecting it but not this severe pain but I also have Ehlers danlos quite bad so that maybe why.

Flossie44 · 01/02/2021 17:39

CyberPixie- are you in group 6 or 4? I’m 46, epileptic, on medication.....

Same we might be lucky to get it in time for Christmas at this rate
Twilightstarbright · 01/02/2021 20:19

@CyberPixie I've got EDS (amongst other stuff) and having the AZ vaccine on Weds. Bit nervous about it now! I'm group 4.

Good luck. Hopefully it'll be OK. Don't let my experience put you off. My pain is starting to wear off a bit this evening thankfully.

Group 6 as far as I'm aware.
justanotherneighinparadise · 01/02/2021 20:25

Ooh interesting! My DP is group 6. We’ve heard nothing so far.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/02/2021 20:27

DD1 has mild asthma, group 6, and had her first vaccine today.

DenisetheMenace · 01/02/2021 20:27

MiraWard1

I think it's regional. I'm group 6 and was done yesterday (after a text on Saturday evening). Our local health centre seems to have whizzed through everyone else and had enough left to start on 'the flu jab list'.

For which I am ever grateful.”

Can’t tell you how happy you’ve just made me, Mira. I think my heart actually skipped a beat.
Do you mind if I ask which region you are in?

Hophop26 · 01/02/2021 20:34

It’s such a postcode lottery, where I am the deliveries have not been coming through very often at all, we are just starting group 2 now. Set up is there ready and waiting...! Whilst I think it’s great other areas are rattling through it fully shows why supplies need to be diverted, doesn’t seem fair that some are onto group 6 yet others are on group 2 due to lack of supplies locally

TheRealMrsMorningStar · 01/02/2021 21:23

@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid

Im surprised about the mild asthma beibg called. From a few threads on here it seems it must be at gps discretion?

Asthma uk on their website said they had thought it was group 6 but were seeking clarification. Notes elsewhere say sever asthma. So it isn't clearcut yet.

Im curious about carer to. I get carers allowance for autistic daughter but elsewhere it looked like carer for ecv person.

Group 6 includes anyone getting carers allowance (and those who are registered as main carer for elderly, disabled etc at their GP). I had my first dose the other day as our local hub was vaccinating carers as they had capacity that day.
Absy · 01/02/2021 21:31

My parents got theirs over the weekend. My dad was scheduled for the day after my mom, but they vaccinated both on the same day as my dad had accompanied mom for her appointment. Gives me hope that they’ll whizz through everyone
