Oh that's a bold gamble! I hope you're right.

TheSunIsStillShining · 03/02/2021 13:27

I'm betting 21k

OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 03/02/2021 13:28

I’m going for 16k

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/02/2021 13:38

🤦‍♀️

Mousehole10 · 03/02/2021 13:39

@CoronaIsWatching

I reckon todays figures will be the first day they're under the 10,000 cases
I'd love that but aren't Wednesdays usually a spike in case numbers because of weekend lag? I'm guessing 18,000
ceeveebee · 03/02/2021 13:40

Brave call! 10k would be 60% less than last Wednesday! I think 18,000

MarshaBradyo · 03/02/2021 13:40

Ah I really dislike that emoji on here. Such a bad addition

ceeveebee · 03/02/2021 13:40

Cross post -I am going for 18,001

MRex · 03/02/2021 13:44

Damn, I was going to guess 18k too. I'll go an optimistic 17k instead.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 03/02/2021 13:49

17,500 😄

lurker101 · 03/02/2021 13:59

I’ll go for 14K

wintertravel1980 · 03/02/2021 14:03

20k - 20% week on week reduction.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/02/2021 14:37

@MarshaBradyo

Ah I really dislike that emoji on here. Such a bad addition
Sorry that wasn't for you. I forgot to add the post that prompted it

Afraid sometimes words don't quite cover the emotion felt🤷‍♀️ 😁

Firefliess · 03/02/2021 14:45

If we're placing bets, I'm going for 19,573!

boys3 · 03/02/2021 14:58

@CoronaIsWatching

I reckon todays figures will be the first day they're under the 10,000 cases
Whilst I applaud your optimism the disassociation with objective reality is perhaps a cause for concern.Grin

Wednesday reporting picks up day 2 for Monday just gone.

As such at the UK level something around the 18000 mark would be good week on week progress. So using the excel random number generator function 18472 for the UK overall.

Just taking England 22915 reported last Wednesday. Monday accounted for 16857 of them, 34% lower than the previous week’s addition to the Monday figure.

To counter that though last Tuesday reported 3597 cases for Monday, as opposed to 5047 in the previous week. Yesterday reported 3582 for Monday, so an almost identical number to the previous week.

Assuming yesterday is down to faster reporting of test results - so maintaining a level of optimism - today could be something just over 16,000 reported for England overall.

As we’ve now passed 10 million first jab vacs, I’m feeling broadly optimistic.

Monkeytennis97 · 03/02/2021 15:53

I'm going for 19,368

Piggywaspushed · 03/02/2021 15:54

Glass half empty. I reckon somewhere around 20k.

boys3 · 03/02/2021 16:03

19202 reported cases

1322 deaths

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 03/02/2021 16:05

16,833. Although I'm having a bad day car conked out at Tesco at 6.30am so I'm prob way off, and Piggy and Monkey are unfortunately nearer the mark.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 03/02/2021 16:05

bugger. too late posting (my day is just getting worse) and I was right that those two ^ were right!

lurker101 · 03/02/2021 16:06

@Monkeytennis97 that was so close well done! Are you Matt Hancock? 😂

Monkeytennis97 · 03/02/2021 16:07

@lurker101 no just a slightly data obsessed secondary school teacher (not maths or science though!)

Piggywaspushed · 03/02/2021 16:10

Sorry. Maybe teachers are born or madepessimists.

Monkeytennis97 · 03/02/2021 16:12

@Piggywaspushed yup definitely pessimist here...

Monkeytennis97 · 03/02/2021 16:13

However having a good happy day today due to vacc numbers and better light. Optimism is peeping through.
