Wiping down the food shopping?!?

Anyone else out there still (if you have at all) wiping their food shopping down with bleach/disinfectant etc? I am and I’ve got to say it’s driving me insane but I know it would worry me if I didn’t?!

No I never have, don't intend to start.
Of course wash veg, salad and fruit but just in cold water.
Feel fine!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2021 17:54

Never did it, never will and I feel perfectly safe.

McCorona · 27/01/2021 17:54

I do. Well, I quarantine all the ambient stuff (put it at the back of the cupboard and don't touch it for three days). Anything fresh that I'm going to use sooner, I wipe with a bleachy cloth or wash in soapy water.. Pandemic rates are still sky high; if you felt you needed to do it in the first lockdown, you certainly need to be doing it now.

Katie517 · 27/01/2021 17:56

Nope never have and never will. It’s excessive and unnecessary in my opinion.

Spodge · 27/01/2021 17:56

No. I just wash hands thoroughly after putting it away and sometimes after opening a packet if it hasn't been in the house long.

Same here.

atomt · 27/01/2021 17:57

Never have done and haven't caught covid yet.

I unpack my shopping and wash my hands afterwards.

I feel like I follow you around this board just nodding and going, yep, what she said Grin
vodkaredbullgirl · 27/01/2021 18:01

no

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2021 18:02

Lucille Grin say it like it is!

GintyMcGinty · 27/01/2021 18:04

I've never done this and don't plan to start beyond the usual washing of fruit and veg.

Smartiepants79 · 27/01/2021 18:09

Nope, personally feel it shows a worrying level of anxiety and a skewed risk perception.
But... if it makes you happier... it doesn’t impact me so ....

ajandjjmum · 27/01/2021 18:11

I still do - very conscious of passing on an infection to our 'oldies' who we shop for. Takes five minutes and makes me feel better - but totally understand those who take a different approach.

ParkheadParadise · 27/01/2021 18:11

No, I never have.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 27/01/2021 18:12

Nope, never have

Tinkerbellflowers · 27/01/2021 18:15

Yes I do. I stopped for a bit last summer but started again as we are told the new strain is a lot more contagious. And wipe cupboard door handles and kitchen tops after putting shopping away.

Axlcat · 27/01/2021 18:17

Yes. It’s personal choice and based on health issues and the fact that if I get it it could be very serious indeed for me. I personally know 2 people who hadn’t left the house even for walks and contracted covid therefore could only have been groceries / deliveries post. Nobody should berate others for doing it / not doing it

LetItGoGo · 27/01/2021 18:19

Just wash hands.

I did clean stuff at the beginning or leave tins and packets a couple of days. Stopped doing anything during the summer when cases dwindled in our part of the world. Not resumed it as it seems to be driven by indoor mixing mainly.

I do still clean the trolley handle!

Fizzybottle · 27/01/2021 18:21

Nope

Roselilly36 · 27/01/2021 18:22

We have wiped all of our shopping down, since the start of the pandemic, I am ECV though.

cookiemonster5 · 27/01/2021 18:23

We just restarted wiping shopping.

I had symptoms and had to go for a test on Sunday. Luckily it was negative but I've picked up a nasty cold and the only place could have been from shopping. I'm the only one who leaves the house as everyone else is off school or shielding.

Really gave us a scare. Still feeling horrible and it's my first illness in over a year so it goes to show just how big a difference increased cleanliness and masks makes to daily life.

Teakind · 27/01/2021 18:23

No, I have to draw the line somewhere. I used to quarantine post but just open it and wash my hands now.

XenoBitch · 27/01/2021 18:24

I did at the beginning but then stopped. That way madness lies.

Meredithgrey1 · 27/01/2021 18:30

Nope, never have and never will, didn’t even consider it.

NotCornflakes · 27/01/2021 18:33

Never done this either. It just goes straight in the cupboards/fridge.
